sp614x posted a message on OptiFine HD (FPS Boost, Dynamic Lights, Shaders and much more)

    Hello everybody,

This mod adds support for HD textures and a lot of options for better looks and performance.

    Doubling the FPS is common.

You can follow the OptiFine development here: reddit.com/r/OptiFine, [email protected] or http://optifog.blogspot.com.

    Resources: translations, documentation, issue tracker.

Get the Magic Launcher for easy mod installation, compatibility checking and more.

Donate to OptiFine and receive the OptiFine cape as a sign of your awesomeness.

The cape is visible to everyone using OptiFine. Thank you for being awsome.

    Download OptiFine

Get all OptiFine versions here: optifine.net

    Editions

    Even Older Versions

Even older versions of OptiFine are available in the OptiFine history.

If you have previously used MCPatcher for HD Textures, HD Fonts or Better Grass (important)

Follow these steps to prevent a possible "Black Screen" problem when installing OptiFine:

    1. Temporarily revert back to the Default Texture Pack.

    2. Uninstall the HD Textures, HD Fonts, and Better Grass mods from the MCPatcher. These functions are included in OptiFine.

    3. Set Graphics to Fancy

    4. Install OptiFine and test with the Default Texture Pack to make sure everything is working.

    5. Select your previous texture pack and graphics settings

    6. Run Minecraft and enjoy

    Compatibility with other mods

When installing OptiFine together with other mods always make sure to install OptiFine last. The only exception are mods which are designed to be installed after OptiFine and say so in their install instructions.

If you need ModLoader: Install OptiFine AFTER ModLoader.

If you need Forge: Install OptiFine AFTER Forge.

MCPatcher is NOT needed for HD textures, HD fonts and BetterGrass, they are included in OptiFine. Install OptiFine without MCPatcher's HD features for best performance.

If you need DynamicLights (ModLoader edition): Install OptiFine AFTER DynamicLights.

Compatible with: ModLoader, Forge, SinglePlayerCommands, TooManyItems, PlasticCraft, CJB's Modpack, Zan's Minimap, Rei's Minimap, DynamicLights, GLSL Shaders 2, LittleBlocks and many other.

Not compatible with: CCTV, The Aether.

    ------------------------------------------Basic Information------------------------------------------
The Seasons Mod adds the four traditional seasons to Minecraft.
The Seasons Mod is SMP-based, and all clients connected to a server running the mod will experience the same season at the same time, within the same world/dimension.
By default, the seasons each last seven Minecraft days, but their durations can be changed per- world/dimension.
When creating a new world, or loading a world that hadn't been loaded with this mod previously, the world will start somewhere in a random season.
By default, an overlay will appear when transitioning normally from one season to another, but this can be disabled by the server (both for SSP and SMP).

It is commonly believed that users must restart the game when switching between SSP and SMP, but that is a misconception.

    -----------------------------------------SMP Server Support-----------------------------------------
The Seasons Mod supports SMP usage in both integrated and dedicated form. All clients will experience the same season at the same time, for the same world/dimension.
The Seasons Mod is intended to be run on pure-Forge servers, but can be used on Forge-Bukkit hybrid servers such as Cauldron. Please note that The Seasons Mod may disable certain Bukkit hooks on such hybrids.
The Seasons Mod adds a command for quick basic server maintenance.

    ------------------------------------------------Items------------------------------------------------
The Seasons Mod adds some items. Information about these items can be found on the mod's wiki. (Please contribute what you can, so I can write more code!)

    ---------------------------------------Wiki and Bug Reporting---------------------------------------
The Seasons Mod is complicated - details will be added to the mod's wiki over time. (Please contribute what you can, so I can write more code!)
If you find a bug, please use the mod's GitHub issue tracker.

    --------------------------------------------Compatibility--------------------------------------------
    • The Seasons Mod does NOT support usage with Optifine. Optifine destabilizes and de-optimizes certain parts of Minecraft that The Seasons Mod uses. There will not be a crash - instead, using the two together will result in an atypical [not normal] experience. The Seasons Mod is not the only mod with this "problem." While it is possible to play with both mods together and not realize there are any issues, problems that are reported involving Optifine will likely be ignored (due to Optifine).
    • The Seasons Mod is compatible with mods that add biomes.
    • The Seasons Mod is compatible with mods that add crops. Added crops may or may not support all/some/any of the seasonal crop settings, depending on how the crops are coded. However, not all crop types are supported, yet, either.
    • The Seasons Mod is compatible with Better Foliage and similar mods.
    • The Seasons Mod is compatible with world generation mods.
    • The Seasons Mod is compatible with mods that add dimensions. Every dimension is logically separate from the others, and is configured separately. Some dimensions have low fps, which should be reported with one of the repeatedly-logged stack traces.
    • The Seasons Mod is not fully compatible with mods that increase the world height. Certain parts of this mod will not function correctly when used with any such mod. Any mod that lets blocks be placed below y=0 and/or above y=255 counts.
    • The Seasons Mod is mostly compatible with Bukkit. Some Bukkit hooks may be disabled by The Seasons Mod. This mod still requires Forge, even when Bukkit is installed.
    • The Seasons Mod is somewhat compatible with time mods. For now, The Seasons Mod does not communicate with, nor interact with, any time mods. It is being reworked for future compatibility and cross-integration with such mods.

    --------------------------------------------Requirements--------------------------------------------
The Seasons Mod is a PML and FML mod coded in the Dev. obfuscation and compiled to the MCP/FML obfuscation. In other words...
The Seasons Mod requires the following to run:
    TSM pre-3.0 beta13 and newer:
    • PML with Minecraft connector, version 10.0 or newer
    • Minecraft Forge (an appropriate version; link to official Forge download page)
    Old Versions' Requirements:
    TSM pre-3.0 beta12x:

    • PML with Minecraft connector (more details on PML requirement with download link)
    • Minecraft Forge (an appropriate version; link to official Forge download page)
    • A PML mod to relate Dev. and MCP obfuscations (such as this one I offer, with ad-free download)

    -------------------------------------Frequently Asked Questions-------------------------------------
    Compatibility
    Q: Is this compatible with...
    A: Check the Compatibility section

Q: Why/How is this incompatible with Optifine? Why do you hate it so much you go out of your way to make it incompatible?
A: Optifine overhauls vanilla rendering, and The Seasons Mod deals a fair bit with rendering. Long ago, Optifine decided to "optimize" several of the sections for rendering that The Seasons Mod uses and relies on. I've reached out to Optifine's creator, but gave up after he gave repeated suggestions of deoptimizations. At this point, I never check if Optifine is installed directly; I only check if the code is borked, which strongly hints that it's installed.
"Always blame Optifine if it's installed. Didn't install Optifine? Blame it anyway." - another modder
    Terms and Conditions/Mod Packs/File-Mirrors
    Q: Can I file-mirror this so I can-
A: -No. And I don't care why you're wanting to, either. I will keep my downloads up long after they are outdated. I still have v1.5 for Minecraft 1.2.5 uploaded. Actually, I have the two test-builds that came before it still uploaded, even. Share my link, not a mirror of the file. (And it's even better if you share this webpage directly (http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1285986-the-seasons-mod-), so users can always get the latest copies of the mod.)

    Q: What is a "file-mirror?"
A: A re-upload of a file so it can be downloaded from somewhere else, often used through/by another website. I do not allow them for The Seasons Mod, as it amounts to nothing more than mod theft (mod stealing / mod plagiarism). See stopmodreposts_org (replacing the underscore with a period) for more information. Think 9minecraft, etc., etc., etc.

    Q: If I can't file-mirror, how can I share this mod's files with others?
A: You can link directly to this page.
You can also link to individual versions of the mod using the links I provide, if you really want to, since I keep them working. If you do this, though, don't refer to a version as "The Seasons Mod for [insert Minecraft version here]" or any similar name, as I make between one and fifteen (roughly) versions of The Seasons Mod per version of Minecraft - it gets very irritating when users come to me complaining about bugs that I had fixed nearly a year beforehand.
I also approve of mod packs that contain multiple mods.

Q: Why did you add a TaC?
A: After my first year of modding being filled with frustrations, I grew tired of dealing with file mirrors and people that didn't understand vanilla Minecraft functionality.

Q: Can I use this in my mod pack?
A: Yes. Just remember that a "mod pack" with The Seasons Mod consists of more than just The Seasons Mod and it's dependencies - it must have other mods, too.

Q: Can I do a Let's Play video/series with this mod, or do a mod spotlight?
    A: Please do!
    Suggestions

    Q: I have a suggestion!
A: Please put your suggestion on the mod's GitHub. If you have more than one suggestion, use one report per suggestion and one suggestion per report. Also, please explain what you're suggesting in sufficient detail.
    Statistics

Q: How many people use this mod?
A: I don't know, mostly because of file-mirrors and language barriers. My guess is between 11k and 40k people worldwide.
I came to this guestimate because there was an average of about 12k downloads through the official download link in a month in my first year, when I released several versions per month. Of the half of that which went through the ads, more than half are from countries where the official language is not English (which are less likely to go with an English site when downloading). I also had many unwanted file mirrors drawing in large numbers of my users (based on their publicly viewable download counts).

    ----------------------------------------------Donations----------------------------------------------

All donations will be used directly towards my mods,
including getting and keeping official game servers,
    when that time comes.
When donating, please Private Message me so that I
can give you cosmetic in-game donation perks when
    I've finished adding them.

I would like to give a tremendous thanks to the people that worked with this mod before I started. Thank you
    Nandonalt, for creating the original mod;
Trak, for updating and reviving the mod after Nandonalt; and
RAWRMaD, for assisting Trak in updating and maintaining the mod before graciously letting me take over.
It is a great honour to me to update, lead, and shape the legacy that has become of The Seasons Mod.

I would also like to thank everyone that made the content that is (and will be) posted above and below, both on this and other pages of this thread or related threads; and everyone that helped discover bugs, letting me focus on writing code.

Additionally, I want to express a huge thank you to my donators. When the time comes, I hope to make it up to you for your selfless act.

    Thank you, everyone.

The world has been hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few who have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population, now infected with the disease. Go solo or team up with friends and take on the world as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive.

Install Minecraft Forge (look elsewhere for a guide on that), then place the downloaded DayZ jar file in the .minecraft/mods folder just like any other forge mod.

    ===================================================
    Information
    ===================================================
Metallurgy is a vast enhancement to the basic mining system, adding well over 48+ new metals (based on which submods you use). Our goal is to create a balanced atmosphere for players to explore and enjoy mining. Metallurgy 2 is also modular, configurable, and entirely tailoring for the player's experience.

You can find the configs in your .minecraft folder under Config/Metallurgy/(Metal Set)

As part of Metallurgy's addons, normal ores are put onto our spawn system of no height restrictions, we felt this created a more fun, exploratory system for mining. If you want to change Vanilla metals back to their old values, simply crack the Core config and under ores disable all of the listed ores (should all be vanilla names) which will reset anything we change about them.

    Base Metals
Adds Copper, Tin, Bronze, Hepatizon, Angmallen, Damascus Steel, Manganese, and Steel.

These are supplements ranging between Stone and Diamond with Steel being Diamond Equivalent but less durability. Installing Base Metals also gives you access to new metal Furnaces and Crushers (see below).

    Precious Metals
Adds Zinc, Brass, Silver, Electrum, and Platinum.

These metals create high enchantability, low durability tools, they can also be mixed with some other metals in other sets to create potent new metals. Precious Metals can also be turned into "Met" at a Mint, Met being a coin-like currency that's tradeable with Villagers.

    Nether Metals
Adds Ignatius, Shadow Iron, Lemurite, Shadow Steel, Midasium, Vyroxeres, Ceruclase, Adluorite, Inola&#91"]"]"]"]e, Kalendrite, Amordrine, Vulcanite, and Sanguinite to the Nether.

These metals vary in strength from midrange overworld metals to post-Diamond and are only obtainable in the Nether. Some Nether metals come with alternate uses (Ignatius/Vulcanite can be used for fuel for example). Nether Metals also comes with a new furnace called a Smelter that's powered specifically by lava.

    Fantasy Metals
Adds Prometheum, Deep Iron, Infusolium, Black Steel, Oureclase, Aredrite, Astral Silver, Carmot, Mithril, Rubracium, Quicksilver, Haderoth, Orichalcum, Celenegil, Adamantine, Atlarus, and Tartarite.

Fantasy metals spawn in the overworld and come in a very large variety, covering Stone through high end Nether in strength. They have higher enchantability by default, but are much rarer than their overworld counterparts. Fantasy Metals also comes with the Abstracter, allowing you to transmute old metals into Experience Orbs.

    Ender Metals
    Adds Eximite, Meutoite, and Desichalkos.

Eximite is a high tier metal found throughout the Ender and can make weapons/armor/tools near Steel in strength. Meutoite is a Catalyst found throughout the Ender when mixed with Eximite creates Desichalkos, a strong and powerful alloy.

    Utility Ores
Adds Phosphorite, Sulfur, Saltpeter, Magnesium, Potash, and Bitumen to the overworld. These ores drop straight items that are used to craft Fertilizer (Bonemeal replacement), Gunpowder, or Tar (Stickyball replacement). See below for recipes.

    ======

To enhance mining, each Metallurgy metal set comes with a special "machine" that can be upgraded through the tiers that provides new functionality.

    Crusher (Core)
The Crusher is included with all Metallurgy installs, it is crated by placing 4 cobblestone in the corners, 4 sticks in the straights, and a Stone Furnace in the middle. The Crusher uses coal and other basic fuels to turn raw Ore into Dust, increasing your output and allowing you to mix dusts to create alloys.

Note: If you have Base Metals installed, you have access to a Copper, Bronze, Iron, and Steel Crusher, each crafted using the previous tier and 8 bars around it. They are faster and more fuel efficient.

    Metal Furnaces (Base)
Metal Furnaces come with every install of Base Metals, they are created from Copper, Bronze, Iron, and Steel Bars surrounding the previous tier of Furnace (starting with Stone). Each one is faster and more fuel efficient.

Precious Metal Chests and the Mint (Precious)
Precious Metals adds Precious Metal Chests to the game, crafted from Brass, Silver, Gold, Electrum, and Platinum, these chests have a much higher storage capacity than their basic wooden counterpart! They are crafted from the previous tier chest (starting at wood) and 8 of the next tier of bar. The Mint can hold a bar of a precious metal, right click the mint while holding a bar to put it in, then give it a red power pulse and it'll output coins.

    Smelters (Nether)
Nether Metals adds Smelters, these special furnaces are crafted using 8 metal bars in addition to the previous tier of Smelter (starting at Stone Furnace). These Smelters store lava, simply right click with a bucket on lava on them to dump it in them, they then use this lava storage tank to smelt your metals at a very fast rate. Each tier of Smelter gets faster and a larger storage tank.

    Abstracters (Fantasy)
Abstracters are fancy devices that come with Fantasy Metals and are made from Promtheum, Deep Iron, Black Steel, Oureclase, Aredrite, Mithril, Haderoth, Orichalcum, Adamantine, Atlarus, or Tartarite.. They are powered by Prometheum Dust, Astral Silver Dust, or Carmot Dust respectively. Input a metal bar in the top of any type, and the proper dust in the bottom, and it'll transmute the bar into raw experience for the user. Each tier of Abstracter increases the amount of exp given (applying a bonus), as well as speeding it up and making it more fuel efficient. You can craft an Abstracter with the previous tier and 8 metal bars (starting with a Stone Furnace).

(Special thanks to ZeroLevels for some missing bits)

    ======

    Alloying Guide
You alloy two metals by mixing the respective dusts in a crafting bench or your own inventory. Most alloys carry on characteristics of their base components with a small bonus (usually in mining level, allowing access to higher tiers and allowing you to "skip" tiers)

If you encounter bugs, please note the following before reporting:
-Try installing a clean install entirely.
-Try manually installing instead of automatic, MCPatcher is having known issues for example with Forge right now, and the others are prone to bugs sometimes.
-Make sure you're getting the latest Forge, we provide a link straight to it in our thread.
-Other mods can cause conflicts, Optifine is known to cause messups in a variety of mods. So try installing it without other mods first THEN see what happens.

    Installation
-Install Forge by extracting it into your Minecraft.jar and deleting META-INF
-Run Minecraft, get to title screen, exit.
-Put Metallurgy Core into your mods folder. (DONT EXTRACT!)
-Put any Metal Sets you want into your mods folder. (DONT EXTRACT!)
    -Run Minecraft, enjoy.

    Server Installation

-Install Forge's latest server version into it (DO NOT DELETE META-INF FROM SERVER!)
-Run the Server, when its done booting type "stop" in the console
-Delete the World folder it just created, drop (not extract!) the Metallurgy files into the Mods folder it just created
    -Start up, enjoy.

    Compatibility
    ===================================================
Here is a list of mods with known issues or known compatibility with Metallurgy.
-Any Forge mod has full OreDictionary support, meaning their ores will work with ours and vice versa if they share names. Build Copper Wires in IC2 with our Copper, use our Silver in RP2, you name it!
-Buildcraft has full compatibility, their quarries will mine our ores, their pipes pump lava into our smelters, and their pipes will transport to/from any of our machines.
-Industrialcraft 2 has a ton of support from us, you can crush our ores in their Macerator, you can craft their Macerators using our Crushers and Circuits/Iron Bars, their Drills will mine at a level equivalent to what they are (Iron-Iron, Diamond-Diamond). You will need to adjust their config to list our Ore ID's under Miners however.
-Twilight Forest will spawn our ores in their dimension!
-Mystcraft supports our ores for the Dense Ore-type world, just a warning though, its crazy. We also provide a Mystcraft Addon for our mod that enables metal set symbols, allowing you to set them to spawn in a world.

To note: If you plan on running Metallurgy with another mod that adds ores of the same name, we highly, HIGHLY recommend you disable their spawns and leave the M2 ones the only one for balance purposes and gameplay purposes.

Please consider taking a moment to donate to the mod, me and Keith are just normal guys that do this in our spare time. We've spent literally thousands of hours an ad revenue really doesn't pay what you guys probably think it does (it pays for our morning coffee/mountain dew). We'd really appreciate it if you'd even drop a single dollar into the mod's fund.

    Thanks for your time.

    ===================================================
    Rights of Use
    ===================================================
Metallurgy's art and code assets may be our creations, but being the user you're granted plenty of rights towards the mod.

If you're a developer and seeking access to the source code for M2 to create new submods or addons for it, please feel free to drop me or RebelKeith a PM (either on the forums or on IRC) and we'll get back to you.

    You may
    -Make Videos
    -Take Screenshots
    -Discuss Metallurgy by name wherever
-Host servers and advertise it as running Metallurgy
    -Create Texturepacks for Metallurgy
-Put Metallurgy in Modpacks as long as you link back to this thread and give proper credit.

    You may not
-Use Metallurgy's art for other, non-Metallurgy, things. (usage for Metallurgy-related activities like banners is fine!)
-Repost Metallurgy under an Adfly link that is not ours.
