- Collaborator(s) would also have to have artistic skills up to par with a high quality texture pack. They would have to be able to convert design drafts to the pixelated/minecraft level.
- It would be nice for colaborators to have some ideas/designs of their own to input.
The problem is that anybody who has those artistic skills to meet your requirements probably has the artistic imagination so that your designs and conceptualizations offer little or no benefit for them. And has already started one or more packs more to their personal taste.
This isn't the advice you want, but I suggest you try one of two things:
1) practice you artistic skills so you can create what you want. You already have a good start.
2) Contribute to somebody else's project, that's mostly congruent with your goals. You are a clear communicator, for instance.
The unvarnished truth is you don't bring enough to the table to for high-quality pixel artists to work for you. There is a greater demand for such pixel artist than there is a supply.
CTM Log Tops: Make all the tops look like that they're connected together (as if it was all part of the same tree).
Ok, i get why trees (especially the ones that spawn in 2x2 versions) would benefit from CTM tops. I haven't messed with that kind CTM much at all. Is there a decent way of getting the textures for 2x2 trunks without doing all 47 different angles and without it looking weird when people build more log tops together?
Question... is there a way to take advantage of the Luminous add-on without changing the look of the glass? I'd love the lighting effects but would prefer to keep the Core look.
Besides what markacahsion said, there are also glass textures in assets/textures/blocks that are used when you don't have MCPatcher or optifine. Delete what you don't want to see.
I want to see some CTM for the tops of logs, & some Block Models for Vines(but I think that will still be 3D voxel plants). What would be COOL would be to see that you use CTM & Block Models to make it look like that ladders connected Horizontally (method=horizontal)[I am willing to show/tell you more about this idea, if you want].
What is there to do for top logs?
Vines are the sort of thing that you could do with voxels, but to make them look good, it would take so many that i'd be worried about performance. Also i currently have vertical CTM on them.
Can you combine CTM with unique 3D models? I don't see how that would work. Also i'd probably prefer doing different tops and bottoms to ladders if such were possible. That enhancement would be visible whenever anyone used ladders. Side-by-side ladders are much less common.
Ladders, bookshelves and tiny mushrooms do already have 3d models Maybe not in Lithos 'normal', but certainly in Luminous. (When I use Lithos, I always use Luminous too)
Luminous doesn't add 3D to any blocks that doesn't have 3D in Core.
In other news, it would be swell if you could finish with Railcraft track textures. I use this mod a lot and the Railcraft tracks look crude next to the vanilla tracks.
I've posted in SnOws thread, so a conversation about that pack can happen over there. I'd rather stick to Lithos-releated stuff in this thread.
The problem with doing rail craft tracks is i don't know anything about them, and there's a large number. So i can't really intelligently texture to bring out the differences and materials.
3D Block Models & Connected Textures
The above are winning my pole by a healthy margin. But i'd like more focused feedback. As far as 3D block Models, i've done all the blocks that obviously need block models. There are some other blocks that could be improved, such as iron bars and torches, but the pay-off is less. And there are blocks like wheat and most flowers that some packs turn to 3D voxels, but personally, i think don't look good that way, so i'm not doing them 3D.
What specifically do Lithos-players most want to see as 3D block models?
And what blocks do they want to see connected textures on?
I searched the forums but I didn't find any answer: is it possible to make the resource pack turn off clouds? I ask because a custom sky with realistic clouds looks bad with those white boxes up there and it would be easier to disable them automatically instead of telling people to do it by hand.
Mod Support requires that you actually edit the JAR or files in the MOD itself with the files provided in the ZIP I provide for textures. Just overwrite what is there as I retain the folder structure of the MOD and only distribute the textures which I have done.
You shouldn't have to edit mod JARs. See my pack or any other with mod support for the proper folder structure.
And you are complaining in my thread that you don't get enough downloads. It looks like you usually have months between releases. You'll get more attention if you release more frequently. Also your images here and on PMC don't do a good job at showcasing your pack. People want to see screenshots that give a good impression what minecraft looks like with this pack, not a lot of snow leopards and graphic design and a few extreme closeups.
Aside from that, i can say that popularity is fairly unpredictable. And texture packs are a ton of work-- if you don't enjoy the process itself you probably shouldn't be doing it for a chance at popularity and recognition.
I've been using this resource pack for a while now but noticed a few problems in conjunction with connected textures.
OK, let's try this again.
For those of you who have noticed CTM or Optifine issues, especially the StoneBrick/Gravel weirdness, please try this pre-release of Lithos, AND this pre-release of Lithos:Luminous and let me know if the problems go away or not.
I think i've fixed them, but there are so many versions...
I'm using Optifine Version 1.8.1 HD U C7 & it didnt fix it sadly.
Odd, that's exactly the version i tested with and i didn't see any of that. Is it common?
EDIT:
Ok, the difference is in my unreleased version of Luminous. Some unrecorded change makes the difference. It's late, i'll try to figure it out in the morning.

I have some textures for Applied Energistics 1. For the next release markacashion is doing the work to get existing textures applied to that and some other mods.
I've recorded the votes, but at the moment i'm not focused on mod support.

I'd have already done 3d rails if not for all the polys the curves would require.

Of course.
make the cloud map 100% transparent.

What's to animate with a fishing rod?
The length of your post is fine, but the lack of punctuation, sentences and paragraph breaks makes it hard to read.

Sorry, you can use my textures in your pack for personal use only.
