Guys I need help, this is my mob drowner outside my front wall.
    http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/7415/moat.png

It flows down into a collection area under my base. The collection area works fine, but the mobs just sorta float against the wall and arent dragged down.

    What do?

And I don't think we need "better" tools or weapons. We need new tools with entirely unique functions, but not a material above Diamond or below wood..

You're really just going to bash everything I say because you don't agree, aren't ya?

I think that the action gamers get burnt out the fastest. I've played Minecraft for so long because I enjoy the artistic end. The end game for me is never combat or its achievements, or about the challenge of survival in the beginning, or even survival at all. Survival is not enough, I play for excellence. I play for the progression from hole-in-the-wall hut to a great spire of baroque architecture and wonder.

But that aside. More items: Yes and always. Purpose is important, but things like furniture matter too. Anything to increase my options in building.

Achievements: Not exactly. Certainly no unlockables, that idea is so bad and generic that it makes me limp. Minecraft is intuitive and easy to get into because everyone starts in the same place. Everyone has access to everything, as soon as they can find the materials. Stats though, not levelling stats, but just information: Good. I want to be able to look at how many of each mob I've killed, how many blocks I've placed/mined, how often I've burnt to death, how far I've walked... That information interests me. Do we need it? No. But It would be fun.

Of course multiplayer needs to be immaculate. It will be someday. Don't like that 'someday' qualifier? Don't buy alpha games.

Thanks for being constructive. I really like what you had to say.

Personally more items are needed but not new items for the sake of new items. If something new is implimented it has to have a use beyond "X but better" or "hey look at how pretty this is". Loot is not what people want. What people want is tools and something unique to assist in a situation.

Loot meaning better items, yes. Why would I suggest adding junk to the game? I mean stuff like lots of different tools and weapons.

Multiplayer is a work in progress. It is not complete by any meaning of the word.

Thanks for telling me things I know.

This is an alpha, and is used for community feedback. Don't expect much from the alpha.

    Who said I did?

EDIT: I know it's an alpha. I'm not saying it needs ANY of these things NOW. This post is about long term survival.

Hey everyone, so I've had Minecraft for about a week and a half now, and I can already notice that I'm starting to play less and less.

I've noticed that Minecraft gets a little boring after finding diamonds and redstone. Also when you finally do explore all of a cavern you've dug to, it can also get boring. The excitement of the first day and having a whole world to explore kept me playing for hours on end, but it's not as amazing anymore.

I believe that if Minecraft is going to survive for a long while, it will need a few things:

    -LOTS of items and loot.
Players have a constant want for more, and once they've gotten what they want, it's hard to get them to keep wanting to play. Items like saddles and records have the right idea, but there needs to be a bunch more.

    -Stats or Achievements.
Stuff like this is trivial, but it does add another level of challenge when you feel like a game's fun juice has run out. Unlockables with these are a great idea, because then the achievements have more use than just score; now you can get a cool new sword from killing those 200 skeletons.

    -Multiplayer needs to be immaculate
I understand that the game is only in alpha and we're all testing it out right now, but the current state of SMP is way too laggy. If I have more trouble with a game than fun, I stop playing it, and right now there is alot of hassle to get SMP to work with port forwarding, and even then it is extremely buggy and slow. Alot of people now-a-days don't care about singleplayer in games at all. All they want is the multiplayer experience. The multiplayer of a game for people like that, can't just be an added thing aside from single player, it should be a solid, polished feature.

Thats really it. More and more STUFF and a really solid game. That will keep people playing for a long time. I can't wait to see this game finished, it is really amazing.
