posted a message on Where to start learning about modding?

Hey there, I want to get into modding, but I find myself in a bad position. I know a tiny little bit about coding in C#, and many other smaller languages, but because of the problem I will describe in the next paragraph, I never made it out of the "novice stage", if you will.

The thing is, when I'm looking for tutorials, they always start with mind-numbingly boring stuff such as hello world and stuff like create a block that drops itself, so nothing a quick google search couldn't have brought up. Also most of the time, even that isn't explained properly or at all, so I question the usefulness of these videos.

I then go into a direction that I want to explore (let's say spawning ores, creating a mob with custom behavior), and suddenly they are using methods and writing code that I haven't seen in my life, all without explaining any of it. There doesn't seem to be much intermediate stuff that goes beyond hello world but doesn't already assume you have years of experience under your belt. I always try to power through, but it becomes so overwhelming and not-fun I have to give up.

So, can you guys suggest any tutorial, any site or any means of learning how to create a moderately complex mod, without the same roadblock as I just described?
