    posted a message on Are strongholds the only place where you can find stone bricks?
    And if you start hearing silverfish when not breaking stone, you are near the end portal. I recently found the underside of a stronghold in a cave. There was stone brick on the ceiling of the cave with lava dripping from it and I could hear silverfish. So I went higher up to break into it.

    How about a baby zombie villager. They are tough to see in the grass and move quite fast. I think they make a growling sound.

    I have seen those on a Craftbucket 1.7.2 server. But just when exploring new territory and there is some lag when new chunks are being generated. But if I wait, they go away (or fill in). One time I went too fast and far in a boat before the next chunk generated and fell off the edge of the world. I disconnected before I hit the void and when I reconnected, I was back in my boat.

    Wrong forum for servers. But since any 10.x.x.x IP is a private IP (not routed on the internet) nobody on the internet would be able to connect to it anyway.

    posted a message on In SMP if you train a horse can others ride it?
    Thanks. I have a couple of horse garages in areas protected by Residence, but have +use flag set so others can use doors, etc. (unless Deadbolt signed). So if others can click a trained horse, I guess I should not leave saddle or armor on them when unattended.

    Entrance to horse garages is fairly simple in this case, carpet over gates operated by a stick switch. Residence prevents others from breaking/placing blocks, so removing the switch when not using it acts as a key lock.

    If you train a horse in multiplayer can other players ride it, or if you want to trade it can they take control it or can you give them control over it? Otherwise I guess I could breed horses and give them a wild colt.

    Also how long does a lead tied to a post last and does it depend whether the horse is trained or wild? I had a couple of wild horses tied to separate posts and at some point after some MC days they both got free. So I fenced them in surrounded by 2 dirt blocks wide and fence on 1 block high inside dirt blocks. So far they have stayed there.

    I know that some friendly mobs can still glitch through single thickness block. That happened with a cow in Craftbukkit 1.7.2, either through a door or single thick stone block (got through wall from adjacent room into my base). Although, so far horses in horse garage with 1 thick wall have not gotten out (entrance: redstone gates in floor covered by carpet with glass blocks 2 blocks above floor. so I do not suffocate riding it in/out).

    posted a message on How do I install a snapshot?
    The new launcher lets you choose either snapshots or release versions from a drop down list without needing separate minecraft directories. And it will automatically update whatever you need for new snapshots.

    However, you may want to use a different world for shapshots that you have not explored much to be able to find new things without having to travel so far to generate new chunks.

    posted a message on Bug Report
    13w21a (Linux) single, I lost all sound, but not exactly certain if that happened at a particular time of the game. I thought it was the result of first opening the horse inventory in 13w19a world. At the time, the horse had lost its saddle that it had in 13w19a (probably due to the new horse inventory), although, it was still tame because I could ride it, but not control it with no saddle.

    After going totally out of the game (back to launcher) and restarting the game, I was able to use the horse inventory to saddle the horse again and did NOT lose audio. But it is lunchtime here and I have to get back to work, so not sure if audio loss still occurs once the world is current. I used creative mode to grab a new saddle, but everything else was in survival mode.

    Notification in what? 1.6 has not been released yet (1.5.2 is current release). If you want to try the most recent snapshot of what it may be like see http://mojang.com/2013/05/minecraft-snapshot-13w19a/ for the new launcher that can run various snapshots or the current release from a dropdown list.

    posted a message on Minecraft fails to launch
    Why are you trying to run it as user root? Did you try extracting it and running it as user pi or other user in same groups as pi? It may have some safety feature to avoid it running as root user.

    posted a message on Fix for problems with launching the application
    If you want to create a desktop icon to run it, use leafpad to create the following file and save it in ~/Desktop as a file called minecraft.desktop
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=Minecraft
    Comment=Run minecraft-pi
    Exec=sh -c 'cd ~/mcpi && lxterminal -l -t Minecraft -e ./minecraft-pi'
    Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/lxterminal.xpm
    Terminal=false
    Type=Application
    Categories=Application;Games;
    StartupNotify=true

    I normally use the /net/minecraft/favicon.png extracted from a regular PC Linux minecraft.jar launcher renamed as minecraft.png as an icon for minecraft desktop launchers.

    posted a message on Will McPi be available for a normal linux computer? non Pi?
    Regular minecraft client is a java program that runs fine on Linux PC or Mac using either openjdk-6 or 7 as long as you have decent graphics (old Intel graphics can be a dog). So I don't see them releasing the pocket or pi like version for PC Linux, at least not for free. Maybe it will be possible to do similar things when the API for mods is built into regular minecraft.

    posted a message on random torch bug in 1.4.4
    I just updated from the 1.4.4 prerelease to 1.4.4 release version today (which it offered when I logged in) and the phantom flashes of flames are still there. Maybe it just happens near torches, because I did not notice it roaming around outside. I did hear that it was well known during the pre, so I was surprised it was released that way.
