Biome specific. Rainforests have darker, larger clouds. Dryer areas have fewer, lighter clouds.
Clouds become darker if they are pressed together (by mountains); this can trigger rain/thunder/snowstorms.
Yes, I am aware that this sounds like one of the stupidest ideas ever suggested, but please hear me out.
Appearance - A tnt minecart looks like a storage minecart with tnt instead of a chest
Mechanic - When the tnt is activated, it will wait out the timer (equal to a regular tnt's timer) and then explode. Because it is in a minecart, the blast power is only 3 (1 less than regular tnt).
Activation - It is activated when power is supplied to the block ABOVE the minecart (The visual spot of the tnt). It can not be activated from detector rails, or redstone on the ground (that would supply power to rails).
Reason - The same reason we have regular tnt. It's a completely ridiculous and funny way to kill mobs. Not only that, but it would be a great addition to adventure maps.
I would rather just have smooth lighting improved so that ceilings aren't so dark. I have to turn smooth lighting off when exploring caves so I don't miss any ores in the ceiling.
Iron chests are made by surrounding a chest with iron bars. They work exactly like normal chests. However, they can not be set on fire and must be destroyed with a stone pick or above. Because they can't be set on fire (and would naturally have a higher explosive resistance as a result of being iron), they would work well as (open) storage in the Nether as ghasts and lava won't be able to destroy the chest. They also would not be destroyed by lava which makes them grief resistant and prevents you from losing everything upon accidently setting your wooden floor on fire.
An AI director can't read your mind, so it won't be able to tell when you want your base to be swarmed. It will also be difficult to differentiate between construction and simply building for the sake of moving up a mountain. This would take Notch months to implement, and it still won't be able to work correctly in some situations.
You could hold W and just walk a couple chunks over until you get to freshly loaded chunks that CAN have that stuff. It only takes a minute or two, and doesn't require weeks of programming.
It starts to take a very long time after you do this a few times.
Edit: Or if you have already explored a large area in search of clay.
another idea for this is that you could create 2 portals in one world, and use it as a teleport sytem. this is a great idea.
I don't like that idea that much because it makes the Nether's teleportation system obsolete. It would also mean that they would have to be made with very rare materials that cant be made early on, (for the new world).
Because INVEdit and MCEdit weren't made by Notch so time wasn't wasted on coding it. This would be. I suggest going to the Mod Requests and trying to get it. Someone has to have the balls to try and take this on, it is a good enough concept.
But this isn't made for that purpose. It's mostly made so that people who want to be able to find new ores and foliage without having to start from the beginning can do so. If you had a save file that didn't have reeds, dungeons, lapis, etc. but didn't want to start over (on account of having a giant castle or something similar) then this would be the best option apart from downloading an inventory editor, which gives the feeling of cheating and doesn't allow you to still have to mine it.
But isn't that kind of overpowered? You could create portals to seeds where the position of diamonds have been mapped out, basically forming an infinite diamond (and infinite anything else) exploit.
Going to the trouble of mapping out diamond for specific seeds is like using an inventory or map editor; if they really want to do it, why not let them?
I would agree, except the nether makes it relatively easy to travel between very distant areas. An entire day's travel is just a few feet in the nether. So all you have to do is travel to a newly generated biome once on earth, establish a nether portal, link the portals in the nether by a sheltered passage and then you can travel back and forth from there easily.
New materials isn't the only purpose of this suggestion. Being able to access many of the interesting seeds (such as 404) with your current equipment is another bonus. It also allows you to replenish glowstone supplies, as they can run out quickly if you aren't careful when placing them. This is something that can become difficult as ghast's (and lava if attempting from the ceiling) make mining in the Nether very difficult.
Whenever minecraft gets updated with new ores, foliage, etc., the existing terrain is left untouched, forcing players to extend their mines farther and farther. However, if the terrain was changed, then there would be multiple problems that I am not going to bother going over.
The solution to this is by having 'world portals'. I am not sure how they would be made and whether they would be crafted or built; I am only going to discuss the mechanic. When you create a world portal, you can right click on it to name it. This world portal will teleport you to another save file of minecraft that has the corresponding world portal. If there are more than 2 with the same name, then minecraft would return an error message saying that that is the problem; the player will be returned back to the portal. These portals can be used for exploring weird seeds, getting ores that were recently added, etc.
Edit: I do not want these portals to require a lot of material to make. For the original world it would probably be fine, but the new world needs to have one as well. So they won't be made out of gold or diamond. A portal made out of iron blocks is also too time consuming for their purposes.
The thing I don't like about the bladed bow is that it's only really useful to people who use a trackpad and can't quickly switch weapons. Otherwise, it just frees up an inventory slot.

The main use of this in single player is really on for humor. But in adventure maps, they can be used as traps; smp also has this benefit.
