Aug 21, 2011These designs are great! I've never seen them before either, so it looks like you'll be able to claim "First!" My favorite one was the last one you showed. It was quite awesome. In fact, I might have to do some experimenting with that design in order to fuse it with a semi-automatic model I created to form a super powerful semi-automatic six shot cannon. Nice job! Keep up the good work for SCIENCE!!!Posted in: Videos

What is that?
This is definitely a half-adder. The logic holds up. 1 switch on and the output is binary 1, 2 switches on and the output is binary 2. It's very useful for creating calculators, but I'm not sure much else...correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Aug 10, 2011Well...that's one way to translate that....Posted in: Starting Up / Looking For Server
Here's what I actually said...I used Google Translate to change it from German because I really don't feel like retyping it all in English.
Hello! I am an American, but I want to play on a German server. I can speak German well, but my grammar is not the best ... too bad ... So, most of all I would like to find a "vanilla" server, but that's not so important for me. I would like to improve my German, and have fun! I am creative and hopefully I can find a new home on your server.
ALSO! I can speak better than I type so it would be good if you had Teamspeak. My accent is not bad either!
Aug 10, 2011Hallo! Posted in: Starting Up / Looking For Server
AUCH! Ich kann besser sprechen als typen, und es wäre gut wenn Sie Teamspeak hatte. Meine Akzent ist auch nicht schlecht! :wink.gif:

Ok, uhm, I installed the mod, and all I get is a black screen. I looked on the downlaod page for it an it says I gotta download all this other stuff and I'm really not going to do that. So, I'm guessing I have to go through and delete al the files in there correct? I was looking though the forums and someone said you may have to download another .jar file, is that correct?
try deleting the META-INF folder in Minecraft.jar first to see if that makes the mod work. If not, just delete Minecraft.jar and run Minecraft this will download a squeaky clean minecraft.jar. This will also, unfortunately delete all achievements, all your stats, and all other mods you have installed (you won't lose your TooManyItems save thingys, though =). Just re-install it), but now you know to also backup minecraft.jar before installing a mod.
Jul 31, 2011drty_muffin posted a message on HELP NEEDED: circuit to switch one input between two outputsTry thisPosted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
= Sticky Piston
= Any solid block
= redstone repeater
= Input A
= Input B
The repeaters can power blocks, so when you move the piston, it pushes (or pulls) the block in front of the right output. Does that make sense??

You might want to think about having the propellant fall in from above, which would open up the possibility of using far more than 7 TNT for propellant.
I have done that before in other delay circuit cannons I've made, but the way this cannon reloads makes it difficult to have more than one layer of TNT. In order to do that, I would have to add a second set of piston reloaders to load the second layer of TNT and run the reload circuit twice. It would also hinder the ability to make the reload process truly semi-automatic because it would require holding the floor open for two reload cycles, which wouldn't be possible without a second button push. It's definitely possible, but I do have to question whether or not a second layer is really necessary.

You could add a belt feed to the "gunpowder" portion, so to speak, but I actually kinda like the idea of having a guy rush in there and fill it up between shots. It feels like it fits better with what minecraft cannons are... somehow.
It would be nice if there were a faster/easier way to reload the shells though. I guess not as much of a problem since that's easier to expand, and considering how much TNT goes into the other part to fire each of those...
I thought about doing that, but like you said, there's something Minecraftian about teamwork. Also, it's similar to a real life artillery cannon in that you have to open the barrel up (the switch), and "reload" between shots. I could see this design being used somehow in some type of mulitplayer base defense mod. It's not too overpowered, but it's still pretty good. Also, you don't have to load all the TNT for each shot, so there's still room for adjusting the angle of fire.
I agree with that, but the belt-feeder was really the only thing I could come up with that was efficient. All my other ideas were too hard to reload. That's why I had it hold 4 rounds initially so it wouldn't have to be reloaded as often. But if this cannon were to be used in a base defense mod, this mechanic would help keep it balanced, and would allow the attackers a chance to advance.
Jul 2, 2011Hello! You may or may not have seen my post a few days ago containing the demo video for a reloading cannon I was going to build. Well, I'm happy to report that it is now done and fully functional. So, without further ado, here is my cannon:Posted in: Redstone Discussion and Mechanisms
I've reprinted the video description below if you don't want to travel to Youtube to read it:
This is the finished version of my Auto-Reloading Cannon Concept. It fires a single round of TNT propelled by 7 TNT blocks. To reload you pull a lever that releases the floor of the barrel, then you press a button that activates pistons to push the second round of TNT into the barrel. This version also includes a belt-feeder to reload the TNT shell. It uses gravel (I use gravel because I like how it looks with my texture pack. Sand would be better to use, though because it doesn't have the chance of turning into flint when resetting the feeder) to push the next shell into place.
Honestly, this isn't technically Semi-Automatic because it doesn't reload automatically after firing. While this is possible to do, it makes timing a big issue, and one weird glitch in the redstone could end up moving pieces of the cannon sideways and upwards, destroying the reloading mechanism. Plus, wiring would be a pain and I'd probably have to build a new cannon to do it.
Here's the old concept video if you'd like to see it as well:
Let me know what you think!

Here is the video. It has no sound, but it shows the cannon in action. Enjoy
That's actually a really good design. You get lots more shots than mine does, which is really the point of the semi-automatic part, isn't it?
