Hello again! Let's get into it. Following on from the last update I shared I had decided to set up in my first biome, a Dark Oak Forest. I have made some fairly decent advances past what has been screenshotted already but here's what I've been up to.
This is the first head of the house I am building inside the hill. Going for a medieval look but not limiting myself to a genre. The interior itself is quite small with only a crafting table, furnace, bed and a chest inside the head which you can see below
I decided to name this area Aere. It has a lot of floating islands and hanging platforms from the hill. I plan to cave out the hill and live inside it. Despite being my first project I can see this being one of my biggest ones. I need to spend more time underground gathering iron and diamonds to make tools so I can continue working on my projects, but I play on a laptop most of the time and daren't face the mobs with a trackpad. Strip mining could work but I want to keep the world as natural as possible for as long as possible, strip mining is blocky and irregular to the landscape I much prefer stumbling across ores naturally whilst working on projects or in a cave system.
There is also another head for the house, attached to a small garden for farm animals.
Through that door is a narrow corridor, leading to a wider one which currently only has a storage room coming off of it.
I've made some changes to the landscape of Aere too digging out a river to flow in and out of the bay infront of my house to the sea, as well as a mini garden/pond/waterfall. Working on a large observation room inside the hill too with plans to put a tower on the top. Next update will have some more photos! There is a ruined nether portal on the otherside of the hill too which I hope to relight soon and explore the nether. I found another ruined portal on the island in the opposite direction to Aere from Salus, perhaps I will set up there next and begin my nether hub. There is some crying obsidian on both portals so I'm thinking of building a respawn anchor and living in the nether primarily.
Finally a new journal on here! I remember when survival journals were quite common back in 2014/2015, but nowadays I think the fad has mostly gone, with only three still active (Leangreen, The Master Caver, and myself).
Best of luck on your goals and looking forward to seeing where your explorations take you! Are you playing in 1.18 or an earlier version?
I'll have to check those 3 out! Thanks for viewing mine. And I'm playing in 1.18 the most recent version.
Hi all! Coming on to my 3rd real time day playing this world and some advancements have been made. Firstly the wheat plants you see in the first image posted grew in nicely as you can see in this picture below:
I explored a cave system located underneath the island, which has been named Ortus, and found an abandoned mineshaft along with some stunning views. I unfortunately died after finding 2 diamonds thanks to an ambush of cave spiders, haven't dared return back since, I'm not ready.
With that, I focused on creating the sanctuary I had in mind when starting. The island of Ortus is actually the island you spawn on in this seed, I wanted to create an area that would have everything you need to restart in the event you died without a respawn point set. This idea eventually came to life in the form of Salus, a place to rebuild when you've lost everything, I created a storage system behind the hut I previously built to store any and all items that were gathered whilst I was birthing Salus. I also created a small garden full of trees and flowers as well as a waterfall. Whilst both look nice they also serve the purpose of being a border to keep mobs out, eventually I envision having the whole island of Ortus lit up so there is no mobs at all. See the images below:
The garden, also visible a sign from the fishing area I created just to the right.
The waterfall.
Picture of Salus from sea, wait why was I at sea?
After I had built up the area to what I hoped it would be, and once I had firmly decided to not explore the cave system further at this time, I realised it was time to leave and find my first real home. And that is exactly what I did. Whilst it is connected to the island directly across from Salus, there is a clear border to the area I have decided to set up in. I will update you again soon.
You need to post a direct link to an image, not a gallery or web page; right-click on the image and choose "copy image link/URL"; the URL should look like "https://i.imgur.com/YyEatYG.png" (ending in an image file extension).
Hi all! This thread will aim to document my journeys on my new survival world I've called Salvos. See it's humble beginnings above. I first played Minecraft in 2010/11 but haven't played it properly since 2016. I'm very unfamiliar with most of the updates from then so playing it now is almost like playing a whole new game. One of my aims in Salvos is to find, explore and set up a base in every biome, eventually connecting by the Nether (if that is still the fastest way of getting around). Unsure on the frequency of updates I will supply so far, but I hope to do so often.
