Where did you hear about the server: Someone named ScottishMushroom mentioned it off-hand in a thread about what to do when burned out of Minecraft.
Do you understand and accept the rules: Yes
What's our policy on raging: Don't do it.
Also, about the "It has to look like a starship", that's a little vague. I get that this basically means "Don't build your starship in the shape of someone's naughty bits", but what if someone wants to have a themed sort of ship? Like, for example, a Viking galley.
That really sucks. Hopefully you can get your builds from the map back.
Oh, that reminds me, there's something I forgot to mention about it.
After Bugfroggy took away the server, we ended up coming to an agreement of sorts. He was gonna give me MCEdit files or something of my builds. I said I just wanted the meeting hall that I made, and he said that was fine.
He hasn't responded since.
But there's hope for the future of the build team. Another member on the thread said that he might be able to supply a new server for the team, however, since the owner of the team ended up disbanding it, that's kinda moot. But I sent the server guy a PM, to see if he's interested in us being partners in making a new build team. Maybe I'll call it Phoenix or something, because symbolism.
I'd also like everyone to know that Bugfroggy's new build team is called Xaeus. So if you see any signs of them, grief the living hell out of it.
Alright, I know this thread is old, but a mod told me it was okay to post here (Proof: http://puu.sh/7aoa0.jpg)
So, I joined a build guild a few weeks ago. It was amazing. Fun community, cool maps, helpful to newbies, best build server I've ever seen. I was building an awesome looking Greek-style temple to be the meeting house, and the next meeting was scheduled to be tomorrow. Everyone would have seen how cool I am at building.
But then, one day, a high-ranking admin on the server announced that the server was going down for maintenance until tomorrow. I was okay with this, but grew suspicious when I saw that there were multiple people on the server, more admins than were on at the time. I PMed the admin about this, but he reassured me that the server was just down for maintenance.
So tommorrow, I am met with the news that the admin has betrayed everyone. He blacklisted everyone except him, and he's taking the server to make his own build team for reasons he won't even reveal. Now granted, yes, it's his server, but he's doing this without telling anyone else before the fact, and without arranging for someone else to host a server. And now the owner of the guild has disbanded the whole thing because he just doesn't feel like having to deal with all the drama caused by the admin's backstabbing.
So, here's what I ask of this forum. If you ever see Bugfroggy, the high-ranking admin, whoop his butt. Raid him on a Factions server, focus-fire on him in a PvP minigame, leave him for dead in an RPG server. Just don't get yourself banned.
The last thread for stuff like this is a few weeks old, so I thought it wouldnt be a good idea to post there. But everyone loves sharing stories of unfair admins, stupid plugins, and 12-year-old insanity, so I thought I would make a new thread.
Okay, so I'm aware that old versions don't get any more support, but I still think I should post this, since it could be a problem with the launcher, or a number of other stuff.
So, whenever I load certain old versions of the game, all the models look warped. Like, to the point of the game being unplayable because your screen gets taken over by a huge pile of distorted meshes whenever a mob gets near. Other times, every mob just becomes invisible.
This occurs on the versions inf-20100618 through Beta 1.7. Here is a screenshot of what they look like (I'm in third person): http://puu.sh/6VhZR.png
Specs:
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4570 CPU @ 320GHZ
Installed Memory: 8 GB (6.79 GB usable)
System Type: 64 bit
The copy of Minecraft is not cracked. I have the default MCPatcher mods + TooManyItems.
I wouldn't say it has quite yet, but it's very close. We've got booming minigame servers like Hypixel ensuring the presence of originality for many more years, Command Blocks to expand the horizon of custom maps farther than anything imaginable, and Mo Creatures's horses giving hope to modders everywhere that their works will expand beyond a big pulsating tumor on Vanilla minecraft that kills the whole thing most of the time. Unless Mojang ends up dropping the ball in a big way some time soon, I still wouldn't say this is the peak of development.
I remember seeing a really interesting total conversion mod for Minecraft. I forgot what it was called, but here's what I remember of it.
At the start of the game, you couldn't break trees without an axe. So you had to collect loose stones off the ground and sticks from leaves.
When you right-clicked in the air with a certain amount of stones, it opened this weird screen where you were supposed to... chip the stone into the shape of a tool head? Or something like that. Anyway, that would make a tool head, and you combine that tool head with a stick to get a tool.
And then there were fire pits. They replaced the furnace in the game, and were crafted much differently. And you had to put sticks into it to get torches instead of using coal.
That's all that I really remember about it. But it was awesome looking and I would like to track its development.
EDIT: I found the mod. It is called TerraFirmaCraft.
-What can mods do that plugins can't?
-What can plugins do that mods can't?
-What happens if you join a server running a mod that you don't have?
-Is it possible to put plugins onto a single player world?
So I have some good news about the future of this thread.
For reasons unrelated to this thread, I was able to get Jeb`s attention for a while. I used that time to link him to this thread, and hopefully he`ll see it. If he does add it, great. If he does not add it, hopefully he will have a reason why he doesn`t want to.
i disagree. making a terrible mod takes some time and effort. the person is trying to learn how to do something and therefore their opinion of their work goes up which is understandable. i think anyone who takes the time to even put out the worst mods are in a way helping the survival of the game. if you look at most of the updates they are basically ideas ripped from mods. sometimes the coding is even directly ripped. mojang really seems to have trouble doing things well sometimes and with the aide of modders the game is many times better than it would otherwise be. the same goes for plugins. i mean, right now in 1.7.4 on a vanilla server with no plugins mobs quit spawning periodically on hard difficulty because of a glitch with 1.7.4. i would bet a 3rd party codes something to fix the issue before mojang does anything. at the very least, mods help people not get bored of the game completely and build the community. a modder making bad mods now helped along with a little constructive criticism make the next great mod eventually. a thread would not be constructive criticism, but a public shaming like this thread.
a lot of the stories here are funny. i dont think the same thing about server owners applies because a lot of servers are in the game for gullible donators and positions of power instead of innovation.
what i do think is that this thread was named horribly. mods is an ambiguous term and while all modifications to the game can be abbreviated mods, not all positions on a server can. in fact, the majority of these posts involve admins and owners instead of mods and are technically irrelevant.

It has been downvoted twice, and no response. Hopefully the downvoters are just some whiteknights trying to suck up to Jeb and not Jeb himself...

I was meaning more mods with horrible concepts
