If i have minecraft PS-vita edition can I multi-play with my friend who is on PE?

Nope :C No cross-platform multiplayer on the vita :C The only way to play with someone on PE is if you also have PE.

    You're welcome :D
Anyway, this thread should be locked. This thread was solely to talk about the release date, and, it got off track a lot, and even now, the game is released so it should be locked. There's a PS Vita section on the forum now, so if anyone want's to say/ask anything else, that's the place. Bug reports specifically should go into this thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-playstation-vita/mcpsvita-recent-upcoming-updates/2242450-minecraft-psvita-edition-official-bugs-list

My thoughts about the vita edition, and some of the bugs I've reported can be found here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-playstation-vita/mcpsvita-recent-upcoming-updates/2242450-minecraft-psvita-edition-official-bugs-list?comment=60

posted a message on Minecraft PSVITA Edition: Official Bugs List [1.12]
So, due to laziness I haven't read the other posts before me, so please forgive if I post bugs that have already been mentioned. I did though glance through them as I scrolled down, and I kept seeing people mention a bug that makes it so the game doesn't save when you hit Exit and Save, so, I tested it. I tested it twice because someone said that it was a problem being connected to wifi. So, I tested it on wifi, and without wifi (restarting the game each time to make sure that it connected to PSN/making sure that it didn't). Both times it saved my game - where I was at, what I had in my inventory, and the world around me. So, I don't know why some people have that glitch, but, yeah, idk.

Anywho, next I'd like to mention a few obvious problems. FPS, draw distance, resolution, and vita optimization.
First, FPS, no matter where you are, is, well, it's playable, but it's not what I payed $19.99 for. It's never smooth, it's always a bit jittery. This leads into the vita optimization, that this game isn't optimized that well for the Vita, which I hope is fixed in coming updates. The draw distance is also a problem - you can barely see anywhere. On superflat worlds, its especially horrible, and pretty noticable. I placed out blocks to measure the distance of how far you can see, and it's pathetic. Not counting the chunk you're on, you see 4 chunks in any direction, which is equal to a render distance of 4. That is extremely sad, due to what the Vita is capable of. The PS3/Xbox 360 versions have a render distance of 8 (chunks), and the Vita version was said to be nearly identical to the PS3 version, except for minor adjustments for stability. For one, splitting the draw distance in half isn't minor. I mean, it's sad when someone can pull out a 7 year old iPod touch that they got for 50 bucks, and play Minecraft on it (Minecraft, that they also got for almost a third of the price of the Vita Edition) and have it outperform the vita in almost every way (I'm talking about performance, not gameplay). Secondly, it's not even that stable! Crappy framerate, low draw distance, and either the incorrect resolution, or low textured files. The only problem with the resolution/texture files is with the inventory and other huds. Everything in your inventory and crafting is pixelated worse than it is in the actual game. It's worse if you increase the hud size.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, it's just not what I expected after months of hard work, delays, and $20.
    /endrant

Other than whats mentioned in the rant, I've got a few bugs that I can just simply list off.
-Swiping in opposite directions with both hands (touchscreen) in the skin select menu crashes it. Also happens if you swipe too fast in one direction.
-Ghost blocks (blocks stay there after you mine them and pick them up, you even have the block in your inventory and can walk through it physically).
-Sometimes a render delay after you break a block - I've only seen this happen a couple of times, but sometimes when I'm breaking blocks, the block disappears, and I can see the whole world through that hole where the block was. It renders the blocks behind it in about 1-2 seconds afterwards.
-Mobs (friendly and, well, the bad ones both) sometimes teleport around when they're moving, almost as if you're playing on a server with a lot of lag. Usually happens to me when I hit a friendly mob, and when moves around fast to run away, it's kinda teleporting and hard to hit.
-Sometimes when mining blocks, the breaking animation doesn't appear on the block. Only happens sometimes, and it depends on where you're standing. If you move and look at it at a different angle, the animation is there.
-Nether portal visual effects are glitchy. Your screen (excluding hud) gets twisted and warped too far down on the screen, unlike other versions of Minecraft.
-Using the touch screen to switch items on the hotbar doesn't work right - instead of tapping the box that you want to switch to, you have to touch the area above the box. I don't know if that's meant to be, but I don't like it.

That's all that I can think of right now, if I find anything else, I'll edit this post and add onto it. No point in making a new post every time I find a new bug. I won't even make a new post (nor edit this one) to respond to people arguing/fighting/discussing. This isn't a place for that, this is just a place to report bugs and glitches. If you have thoughts on anything I just said, message me about it :D

-djdevilmonkey (Played Minecraft before it was cool... 2010 bro.)

Edit: I'm kinda adding onto what I said a few lines above about not arguing/fighting/discussing - don't call people out just because they reported a bug that has already been reported. ESPECIALLY, don't make a new post solely to call them out (just sayin' that because I saw that several times). They're just trying to help, boo hoo if the same bug was reported twice. And since they're just trying to help, it's not their job to read through the whole thread and find every bug that was reported, then cross-reference that list with their list of bugs, and debate what to report or not. The more things that are reported, the better (Sorta. It's not good that bugs are reported, but it's good that they're reported if there are any so that they can get fixed). And if it's just an easy task of typing out what bugs they found on here, without reading prior posts, then more people will do it. They'd be discouraged to report bugs because of how time consuming it is it go through all of the posts that have already been made.

Another thing, how does the ad hoc work exactly? I don't see any options that say ad hoc (maybe I'm just missing something?) and I'm pretty sure you can play this through ad hoc without having to be signed in to PSN. I'm asking because my friend plans on getting it soon and we might see each other soon so I just wanna know how the ad hoc works. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers :)

When you're in the main menu, press the Square button and a window will pop up, select "Ad Hoc Network", then when you hit "Play Game" at the main menu, another window will pop up, again select "Ad Hoc Network", then, ta-da, Ad Hoc :D
The reason that the window pops up twice is because the first time it is selecting which network it is going to load when you hit play game, and the second one is actually disabling the wifi/mobile network, and enabling Ad Hoc mode on the vita.

I predict that this will be the most downloaded PS Vita game to surpass Killzone: Mercenary.

That seems to be a pretty accurate prediction because that's what has happened with all of the other console Minecraft has been released on lol (It's become #1 game)

I am biting my nails waiting for the release. and now it may take longer if Microsoft wants to go over every detail before sending it out on the vita.ggrrr

Microsoft has nothing to do with the release date of the Vita, neither does Mojang. Mojang signed a contract with 4J Studios and Sony (4J Studios to develop/port Minecraft to other systems, and Sony so they can release Minecraft on Sony consoles such as the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita), so the release date falls on those 2 companies.
It's whenever 4J Studios finishes up the Vita version and gets all of the bugs out and sends it to Sony for testing, and its when Sony tests/approves it, and then decides to put it on the PlayStation Store.

Well, there's a forum for it now: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/other-platforms/minecraft-playstation-vita

Currently listed under 'Other' right now (probably there until release like the section for the PS4 version before it was released)

I'm thinking the PS Vita version will be out in like 2 to 4 weeks.

Sweet, i knew he would do it for me :D Anyway, I wonder when this thread will be moved to the right spot LOL

    You didn't read did you?

I said VIGLINK. Viglink and not Bit.ly.

K dude, stop going off topic please. If you have a problem with someone either take it to pm, or take it to a moderator. But yes, you did say Viglink, that was your first mistake. It is not a Viglink. It is a bit.ly link that leads to a news article on playstationlifestyle.net, so you called it the wrong thing. Your second mistake was calling bit.ly a profitable url-shortener and implying that's what diamonddrizzy was using it for. Your third mistake is continuing to go off topic and cause problems.
You are already in the wrong, and I just want this argument to stop. This means everyone, not just MRGamer. No if's, and's, or but's.
    --------------------------------------------------
    Anyway, back on topic!
4J Studios just tweeted that they now will be focusing on the PS Vita Edition, then the PS3 Save Transfer Update, then fixing Xbox One & PS4 bugs, then a update across all consoles.
Hopefully we can get our hands on PS Vita Edition in the near future, my guess is 2-4 weeks.

I just asked d3fin3d to make a section for the PS Vita, no reply yet but he will probably (hopefully) do it.

And MRGamer01_Snowpaw, bit.ly isn't for profit at all, its one of the url shorteners ones that isn't. The profitable ones always lead to a page with an ad and a 5 second timer before you can continue, while this one doesn't have any ads whatsoever so there is no way for profit :P Anyway, Bitly is used to shorten links, and the people who made those links can track the statistics of that link, like how many people used it and stuff like that.

It's service where a link is monetized and you get money from the clicks for that link.

    -back on topic-

About the PS Vita version being delayed, at least they're working on the bugs so it's not buggy when it comes out. Also, just be happy that it will be like the PS3 version and not like Pocket Edition.

Also, I would like to know if there will be a dedicated forum section for the PS Vita version like for the console versions as well as it's not mentioned in 'Other' at the moment.

I was wondering the same thing, i'll ask a staff about it...

4J studios posted on twitter that Minecraft PS4 edition is in final test. Maybe vita version is coming with it?

    https://twitter.com/4JStudios/status/499268082297491457

4J Studios said that they only handed over the PS4 Edition for their final testing, not Xbox1 or PS Vita. They then said in their next status update that they're still bug fixing the Xbox1 and Vita editions, and they will post more news as it comes. After that came the Vita trailer, and the most recent update says that Sony found bugs in the PS4 edition, which means 4J Studios has to go back and fix them, and the whole submission process has to start over.
So no, the Vita edition isn't going with it lol, if anything it got delayed because 4J Studios now has to work on the PS4 Edition some more.
