i can't make any spells (at least in creative)... worked fine in 1.1.2 but in the newer version and the 1.7.2 version i can;t nake spells. the game lets me choose a form (self, projectile and all the rest) and modifier but when i try to put a power (blink, damage, true sight and so on) it won't let me (they are highligthed and i can drag them but when i leave them they won't add to the spell. am i doing something wrong?
sorry for bad english. not my native
You have to place the power in the gray bar at the bottom.
Lovely. The latest forge updates have all completely borked the ability to jar nodes. Crashes every single time... the slightly older version of forge (1097) just ignores all attempts, while the latest (1121, 1125) crashes on right-click.
Thanks for acknowledging this, I've been going crazy the past couple days trying to figure out what's been going on with this.
Also, and I bet most people don't even know this, if you are playing Minecraft and you press f3+h (press the f3 and h key at the same time, you also might need to press fn+f3+h, depending on your keyboard) it will make all item tooltips show the id of the item! So if you put your mouse over an item you can see the exact id. Easier than having to download tmi. Also, in future versions, it will show the 'command name' as well (e.g. minecraft:wooden_planks).
That's gonna save me a lot of time, thanks for the knowledge! I'll edit my post up above to reflect on this
Thanks for that write up! The reason mod ids may not have worked, is because, most item ids from mods have 256 added to them for some reason. So it should work if you subtract 256 from the mod ids you see on any config file, and write in that id.
Forgive me for posting such a noobish comment, but as someone with almost no programming experience, I have no idea how to add things to the lucky block drop table. I wanted to try and add a few items from Tinker's Construct and Twilight Forest to the drops.
First, you'll need the item IDs for whatever items you want. You can discover them by pressing f3+h (or fn+f3+h) at the same time, then hovering over the item should show a number (thanks, PlayerInDistress!) If that doesn't work for some reason, downloading TMI (TooManyItems) and peering into the item lists should show you the item ID. I thought looking into my mods .cfg files for item ids would work, but in my case it didn't for whatever reason.
Then, follow this syntax and paste this into your LuckyBlockProperties file, which is found under your config > lucky folder. You can just open the file with Notepad. Place these entries wherever it fits most in the entry. If you want a block, add this entry in the Blocks area, Items in the Items area, etc.
/your items here
ID=(the item ids you want here),amount=(how many you want here, if you just want 1, don't bother adding the amount entry)
You may find items that give a weird ID, for instance I modded my file to include dropping Infinity Orbs from Ars Magica. Their IDs for me show up as ID 20261:10 for blue, 20261:11 for green, and 20261:12 for red. Should you find an item you want displaying this, you'll need to lay out your item like this...
To take it a step further, let's say I wanted an entry so it could randomly give me a large entry of items. For instance, I use the Spellbound mod and I modded my lucky blocks to give me literally any of those tablets, and thus my entry into the LuckyBlocksProperties.txt file appears as such.
Hopefully this info helps. It's pretty easy once you play around with it for a bit! For references sake, here's my entire LuckyBlockProperties.txt file, though I don't recommend copy+pasting mine into yours as I doubt we're running the same mods.

~SPAWNRATE~
The spawnrate means the Lucky Block will have a 1 in (spawnrate) chance of spawning per chunk.
This means the smaller the spawnrate, the more likely it is to spawn. Set it to 0 to prevent natural spawning.
~RECIPE~
To configure the recipe, use the first 3 groups of letters to show what the recipe will look like in the crafting table.
A space instead of a letter will indicate that nothing goes there. Then, match each letter to it's appropriate item/block.

Quick question about aspects, though: Is it possible to "run out" of the primary 6 aspects (as you can only scan a kind of block once)? For instance, I'm quite low on Ordo right now, and don't have a way to replace it...
Nope, as long as you scan literally everything you should be fine. Aura nodes themselves are especially good sources of primal aspects. If you're stuck, there's research for a Deconstruction table which will consume items for a chance to end up as one of the six primal aspects depending on the item used.
I'm someone who can never get enough Thaumcraft addons, this looks really cool! As for the poll, I think a weather-changing machine would be quite useful since some mods I use add things that will only work under a certain weather pattern.
I've got like 52 hours in my current world, I've still never seen a single Hungry Node in my Overworld nor my several Mystcraft worlds, and I've been exploring tons.
Not sure if I'm lucky or unlucky because I really wanna see one!
Honestly, a lot of us are wondering exactly why we are spending so much time creating free mods only to get hate in return.
I'm probably really late here, but I used to mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 as well as Morrowind and Oblivion. I officially stopped releasing mods to the public years ago because of this very reason. I've yet to see one game community that didn't act this way on some degree towards modders, sadly.
When I didn't have people jumping down my throat or calling me a terrible person because I can't respond to literally every single message I'd get, I had others telling me my mods were broken because they're too lazy to take 3 seconds to read a readme file on how to install it or didn't understand what a mod conflict was so therefore it must mean my core mod is 100% absolutely malicious. I mod mainly for fun, and dealing with those communities was the polar opposite of that.
I have lots of respect for modders not just for the hard work and love you all put into your projects, but because I know just how stressful communities can potentially be. Thaumcraft is my favorite mod for Minecraft and I sincerely thank you (and all other modders, really) for all your hard work.

Nope, as long as you scan literally everything you should be fine. Aura nodes themselves are especially good sources of primal aspects. If you're stuck, there's research for a Deconstruction table which will consume items for a chance to end up as one of the six primal aspects depending on the item used.

I've been using TT for quite some time and I've thoroughly enjoyed it, it's by no means a bad mod!
I wish you luck with Botania, I'll definitely be keeping my eye on it.

Not sure if I'm lucky or unlucky because I really wanna see one!

I can only imagine the hilarity if you were to toss one in an Alchemical Furnace.

If you are doing that, then I have no idea.
Thanks for the update and the mod Mithion! I'm liking AM2 even more than the first, and I played a ton of the first.
