Regarding forge support. For those who are unaware, forge's latest update is essentially an ultimatum to modders: Either be incompatible with us or be incompatible with everything else. As one of MCPatcher's core design principles is to be as compatible as possible, this is completely unacceptable. Making MCPatcher forge-compliant would represent an enormous effort for an inferior result. Among other things it would mean no snapshot support, leaving texture pack artists with no way to work on new features between major Minecraft releases.
There is no technical reason for this "no jar edits" requirement. With a few hours work I was able to bypass it and get a proof-of-concept MCPatcher+forge modified jar up and running with only minor incompatibilities. The result is essentially the same as the old way of adding a forge zip to MCPatcher and clicking Patch.
I am led to conclude that this change is more about promoting an ideology than a technology, and recent public behavior by Lex and cpw only confirms that. They repeatedly insist that any modder not doing things their way is "doing it wrong", as if there were only One True Way to create Minecraft mods. The condescension is especially rich considering forge's crude binary diffs method for base class edits is light years behind what MCPatcher has been doing for over two years now.
So while perhaps I could cobble together something that will work both with and without forge, having to bend over backward to accommodate a group with so little regard for others is extremely frustrating. I would much rather work on new features for artists than constantly jump through forge's ever-changing and utterly unnecessary hoops.

I was hoping to have a command following elevator but apparently I can't now because you don't like a item.
Sure you can.

There's only so long you can argue with the goon squad before their circular logic and general sense of entitlement wears thin. -

[Edit] What im trying to say is, it would be nice to see people who can discuss without it becoming a fight
Because ultimately, as the creator of the mod, and the guy that does the work, my opinion is the only one that matters in this.
If I'm not willing to use Forge, and have said so quite clearly, then that is the end of the discussion.
So, when guys like you keep popping up and going on about it ad nauseum, of course people get ticked off, as what you're doing just boils down to nagging about something that can not change.
{Edit2} Flower, have you ever considered making a stand-alone version with basic parts of btw, like the basics of the mechanical power/machines? Thats the part i love most about btw, the mechanical power adds something to mc that no other mod has come close to.
No. Go away.
Didn't you just say your were done with this discussion? Can you please follow through on that? -

Since registration on the your forum is closed currently I will post this here and hope you see it.
I have not read everything because I started to get sick over some of the utter nonsense I encountered, so I apologize for being a little ignorant of everything that has transpired and been said.
That said, I just think there are a few things some of you need to remember.
1. What did you pay for the privilege of using this amazing mod?
2. Have you not heard him say over and over that making the mod compatible would ruin his desire to keep developing? (I realize this is oversimplified, but I am trying to keep this succinct)
Dude, I know I am just some nobody you have never met, just another fan of your code. But, after reading some of this crap I was compelled to post.
I support your decision 100% and I sincerely hope that all of this drama does not kill your desire to keep playing and modding minecraft.
You mod is an incredible addition to the game and I find it to be one of the few mods that is cable of creating an awesome gaming experience all by itself, and I for one believe it should stay that way. -

Robilar posted a message on Better Than Wolves Total Conversion!By the Nine, by Shor, and by Notch’s Hat, can we please knock off the blasted name-calling and demonizing? I am a BTW player. Why do I play BTW? Because it’s freakin’ fun. Last I checked, having fun was something that the MC community as a whole rather enjoyed, as well as those outside it. I play BTW because it offers me a complete experience, FlowerChild is tried and true with both his new content, and his update cycles. I play BTW because it gives Minecraft a full purpose. It gives me something to work for, and a challenge other than hoarding a large number of rare blocks for the sake of hoarding them.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
I still remember back when I first scrawled through the MCF BTW OP, somewhere back in MC Beta 1.4 or 1.5. I was genuinely impressed by the things I saw, and had barely begun to grasp all the potential that what seems like so little now already held. I can still remember placing my first waterwheel (The windmill wasn’t yet added, to my recollection) and being amazed that it was multiple blocks in size. I remember placing the water down and almost screaming with delight as it *actually* started to spin. I didn’t know that was even possible. I’ve still not found all the pieces from that “Skull Detonation”.
I also still remember when the darker aspects started to emerge, when the “Pain for Power” started to become apparent. I felt fairly guilty when I first locked my wolves in a box on their glass cubes, sitting over a constant stream of water to ensure the room was forever damp and cold. I remember my wife of the time being a little upset when she saw my cow farm, with the babies falling into a pit to huddle together until they could venture forth to their deaths. And I recall when I first ground some Netherrak. Oh my goodness, I wanted to run away from my computer, but you know what? I enjoyed every second of it.
Better than Wolves, or, as I think of it now, Better than Minecraft, is absolutely *flawless* as it is now. I say that knowing full well FC will find a way to improve it *even further*. Just like you don’t stick your whole breakfast into a blender and call the resulting slushy better than pancakes and bacon, you don’t stick BTW in a blender with a balls-load of other mods and call it better. Everything you add to Minecraft will either dilute MC itself, or dilute other mods involved. BTW is perfectly concentrated awesome, and I trust FC as the brewer of amazing that he is to know where to dilute vMC to make our own brew even better.
That’s exactly what Better than Wolves is; *our* own personal brew. Don’t get upset when you don’t like how it tastes, or that it happens to explode when you mix it with yours. -

FlowerChild posted a message on Better Than Wolves Total Conversion![**** NEW RELEASE ****]Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Version 4.41 of Better Than Wolves is ready for download!
Download Link
This release contains the following changes:
-Updated the mod to version 1.4.6 of Minecraft.
-Added raw and cooked Mutton as new food items, as I got tired of waiting for Mojang to get around to it
-Added a "clean" version of the Chopping Block. When first created, it will be clean, and will become dirty through use. Dirty blocks may also be cleaned by using Soap in a heated Cauldron, with a single bar of Soap cleaning 4 Chopping Blocks.
-Added the ability to grind skeleton skulls into bone meal with the Mill Stone.
-Added internal functionality to differentiate between ice blocks formed out of source water blocks, and those that aren't with Hardcore Buckets enabled. This means that source ice will turn back into source water when harvested, so that you will no longer get unsightly holes in your frozen lakes when breaking it, and that ice blocks you move yourself will melt into temporary water as they do now. Note that all ice that was in existence previous to this change is considered to be made of source water, which may result in old manually placed ice blocks turning into source water when broken.
-Added internal functionality so that smooth stone pedestals and oak tables, use the same texture indexes the old blocks of the same type did, so that texture pack artists can keep their old textures for those blocks. Note that oak benches also use the same textures as oak tables for consistency.
-Added internal functionality so that add-on authors can determine how their blocks function when cut by a Saw.
-Added internal hook to specify the size of the animated Stoked Fire texture, for use by MCPatcher.
-Changed the vanilla bow so that it will fire any Rotted Arrows in your inventory before regular ones, given that Rotted Arrows are less valuable (since they can't be reused) and do the same damage. Note that this doesn't affect the Composite Bow since it can not effectively fire Rotted Arrows.
-Changed infinity enchanted arrows to shatter on impact, similar to Rotted Arrows.
-Changed the way Hardcore Spawning works so that it functions properly on super-flat maps.
-Fixed problem with Benches and the mod's custom fences not rendering properly under certain circumstances.
-Fixed problem with mod food-items not displaying particles with the right texture when eaten.
-Fixed problem with golems not displaying dig particles for the block they are walking on when wandering around, and the same for players when they are sprinting. Similar to the food fix above, they now also display correctly for mod blocks.
-Fixed problem with the wood-based column recipes granting 4 columns, instead of the appropriate 1.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Just watched DW20 spotlight of a famous mod' new version, and after covering Windmills, he says something along the lines "These are miraculous, I honestly can't think of any other mod having such a cool windmills".
I am now wondering to whom this "take that" was.
I think he's blind to anything outside of Forgeland -

Man, other than to change my banner and show support last week I haven't been here in... Over six months I think, and within reading three posts my brain explodes. It takes me a huge amount of time to gather up that matter and put it back in; difficult to put the last two remaining bits back in when you barely have enough have to twitch your limbs.
* le sigh*
I suggest installing a trap door in your skull if you plan on spending any significant amount of time around here man. It both serves to direct the blast and makes reinstallation a tad easier - To post a comment, please login.

-1 rep for the change that breaks everything, links pics and such. I feel sorry for all the original post authors having to go in and re-edit to fix their posts, especially all the texture pack and mod posts.
