Mar 1, 2012dendritejungle posted a message on 1.2 Update is Released! Can anyone confirm if you still need to start a new map altogether for a jungle, or if it will now generate in new chunks on an older map? Really don't want to lose our existing SMP map just to get a jungle...Posted in: News

Oooh! I get to proselytize - cool! I'm happy to tell you about them.
thatgamecompany specialises in games that are more about an experience and/or an emotional state than mastering difficult game mechanics or hours of grinding. They're usually quite short - Journey is probably the longest at about two or three hours - designed to be played in one sitting to create a single experience, like you'd watch a movie. In terms of gameplay and style they are most often compared to Shadow of the Colossus: an awe-inspiring, explorable world with as much thought given to the emotional impact of the story and surroundings as the gameplay.
Flow was actually a thesis project, and you can play it online here. But it made enough of an impact that Sony signed them for a three-game deal for the PS3. They improved and re-released Flow as the first one, Flower was the second, and Journey is the third.
Here's the description of Journey:
There's even a free, downloadable demo. The only thing that sucks is that it's only available on the PS3.
Here's a of some of what you experience:

Age: 36 (yeah yeah, I'm ancient compared to everyone else...)
Any notable achievements in Minecraft: Currently working on an ambitious multilayered floating island which (when finished) will have a grotto, farmland, mountain with castle, a sand village, treehouses and a cloister.
What would you bring to the server: Uh...estrogen? :wink.gif: Aside from that, I work well with others and have an excellent attention to detail. I also do have a wide range of LOTR canon materials - including the Atlas and the full 12 volume History of Middle Earth - for reference if needed.
What is the hidden message? (You'll find it if you've read everything): I love LOTR!
Realistically I probably wouldn't be on very often - I've got that whole pesky "job" and "household" thing going on IRL, as well as a server I regularly play on - but I'm happy to pitch in when I can. I have to admit, I also really want to walk through what's been done so far. :biggrin.gif:

Aw, he was just trying to be helpful. But you're right, teleporting is out of the question for me. So I'm grateful it sounds like my friend can grab my stuff. :biggrin.gif:

I'm game-days away from my spawn point in a private unmodded multiplayer server, and logged out with just a heart-and-a-half of health left since I was being attacked. I may survive...but I may not, and I'm waaay to far away from my spawn point to get back in five minutes.
I'm wondering if I can get one of my in-game friends to armour up and come to where I am (or will be, when I log back in), so if I log in and die she can pick up the items I drop and put them in a chest for me? Since I'm usually the one dying (yeah yeah, I suck) and haven't ever watched someone else die, I have no idea if their dropped items are available for anyone to pick up? I'd like to make sure she wouldn't be wasting her time making the trip to come to where I'll appear again in game if she wouldn't be able to grab my stuff for me.
Crossing my fingers that she can...
