Aha! Custom mob spawner was to blame. Thanks for the info Tenshi, but i had downloaded Omen's modpack and they spawn with the textures. I meant they dont spawn at all. But i figured it out!
Custom mob spawner seems to make it so that the maids do not spawn naturally, other than that it works fine.

That's really weird... I'm using Custom Mob Spawner (in concert with Mo'Creatures) and I am seeing maids spawning.

Also, the thing with the configuration file is that in my experience for some reason the mod always overwrites the config file with a default version every time that Minecraft starts, so any custom settings I tried to set in it (boosting the spawn rate, etc.) kept getting overwritten. I worked around this by setting "Immutable mode" on the file, which is sort of like a "super-duper read-only mode" that prevents *anything* from writing to or changing the file. In Linux, you do this by running the command "chattr +i (filename)" On Mac OS X, it's "chflags schg (filename)" Windows probably has something similar, but not being a Windows guy I have no freaking clue what it is or how to activate it.

The maids work perfectly. Every texture does as well, i have them all installed. Unless you are in god mode you cant choose all the textures, a spawned maid will have its texture and a red line on it, you canchoose any texture on that line. Unless you have god mode(creative) then uou can choose any.

That is normal. You use dyes to get the different textures on each line (each corresponds to a particular color.)

What about listing the effects of gunpowder and slimeballs on tamed maids? There's also the ability of maids in freedom mode to deposit items into nearby chests when their inventories are full, and rippers can defuse primed TNT too if they're close enough.

BTW I seem to have found yet another mode for the maids, although it doesn't seem to do very much at the moment.

If you give a Flint and Steel to an Archer, that puts her in "Blazingstar" mode. But it doesn't seem to do very much. Basically it's like Bloodsucker mode, only with a bow (or gun, etc.) instead of an axe. She attacks both "enemy" and "unknown" mobs. She might seem a bit more aggressive, I can't tell. She also makes the flint and steel noise a lot, but she doesn't start any fires.

Huh, well this ain't good. See, I was gonna head out on an adventure with one of my maids, but when I picked her up with a saddle and jumped off with the modular powersuits shoes and leggings, I right clicked again with the saddle in midair above a lake because she was going to fall off int he water anyway, btu when I did that I had a lag spike and then she was gone.
    Gone.
Not dead, just gone. Her items aren't strewn about, I didnt get a message saying she died, shes just nowhere i've looked, can't find her on reis minimap, her items havent shown up in my invo from NEI's magnet mode, no death message, shes not back at the house, i'm stumped as to what happened. I would've checked the console, but that didnt occur to me until after I shut down the game to reload it.

Edit: Changed the difficulty to peacefula nd then used the cofh commands to kill everything that wasn't a maid, and my maid is just gone, she is nowhere within the 8 chunk radius of my base according to the entity radar. Super depressing stuff right there.
    Haku status: MIA

I didn't know you could get maids to show up in Rei's MiniMap... how do you do this... with another mod?

Sometimes I would like to return to MC 1.6.2 only for textures of the maids :/

but many mods i use only have updated their content for MC 1.6.4

    like lycanite mobs

    only 0.2.1 v for 1.6.2

    and 1.4.4 for 1.6.4

    is a hard decision

Minecraft forum user "Yarrmateys" has created an unofficial patch to make LMM compatible with 1.6.4. Go back to the 1st post in this thread (the one by Kuroneko with all the instructions, download links, etc.) , they updated that post with the link to yarrmatey's version.

@KuroNeko87: That sounds fine, but first let me add a guide for editing littlemaidmob textures in my dropbox though.

That would be awesome... I've always wanted to start making maid textures, but haven't really had the time to dig in and learn it.

It is being looked into; although, I'll probably have the Minecraft 1.7 update to the Little Maid Mob mod out, sometime when the official client goes to 1.8, or something. But it is as Oliv1er has said in that thread; the problem seems to be in ModLoader, and its implementation for this mod. Trust me, I will attempt to simplify the mod in some way.

(Most realistically, this mod is perhaps one of the most important for me to be working on -- this, and that replacement Radar mod -- but by no means are they the only Minecraft mods I'm developing; and beyond that, I'm doing other Java development outside of just what I'm doing in the Minecraft community itself. I have some other Java projects I've left alone for far too long, that I also wanted to get back to. Anyone ever heard of the SpaceTrader for Java game/applet, on SourceForge?)

Thanks for your work on the mod.  It is one of my favorites.

Are you planning on hosting this on github?  I'd love to be able to help out with the development and/or bug fixing at some point.

Also there are two AI quirks that especially need fixing IMHO.  You're probably aware of these already but I'll mention them again just in case.

    • Teleport out if suffocating and/or not subject themselves to suffocation in the first place.  When a maid in freedom mode wanders too far from her base of operations, she is supposed to teleport back.  Unfortunately sometimes my maids end up teleporting back into solid objects, resulting in their untimely demise.  It would be nice if the teleport code could check to make sure they don't teleport into solid objects.  Or, if they do somehow accidentally get stuck in something, have them immediately teleport out, sort of like how Endermen teleport immediately out if they happen to fall into water.
    • Avoid fire and lava.  I recently took my maid into the nether, and she just loves to run right into burning fire on the ground with reckless abandon.  Their lava avoidance seems to be marginally better, although I seem to recall seeing a maid jump right into lava once.  But even if they don't end up jumping right into it, they still get way too close to it making it really easy for them to accidentally fall (or get pushed) in.
    • Be aware of the concept of "friendly fire."  When a maid wants to shoot down an enemy, she *really* wants to shoot it down, to the exclusion of everything else.  That includes firing on an enemy even when a friendly or neutral target gets in the way.  Which is bad enough with bows, but gets even worse with powerful bows (flame, power, etc.), and is positively deadly with more powerful weapons (P90, etc.).

i dunno, regular villager towns are sometimes hard to find, and they're not that rare. making them really far apart and limiting them to 8 would mean you'd never meet them normally unless you knew precisely where to look for them.

imagine searching for a stronghold, except it's tiny and you get no ender pearls to find it

Ok then.. how about a craftable item, a detector of sorts that would help you find maid towns and/or individual maids? Call it a "Moe Meter"!

...sorry, now I'm just being silly :-)

I have a strage issue. I was on the nether and a friend throw a snowball to my maid (Wich was on overworld) and gets on the nether. Now I don't found the way to get them back to the overworld, tried throwing them snowballs staying onoverworld and doesn't worked. Any suggestions?

If all else fails you can install the Mob Confinement mod. (Scroll down on that page until you see "[1.6.2]MobConfinement[v1.1.0]" then click on the download link) Create a "Mob Confinement egg" (not sure what the recipe is, you could always quickly drop into creative and get one that way), then hit your maid (LEFT click) with it. Don't worry, you will hear the maid "I'm hurt" sound but it doesn't actually do any damage. That will "capture" your maid into the mob confinement egg (sort of like a Pokémon ball, which is why I call it "the Pokémon mod") Then just go back into the over world yourself through the nether portal, and "release" your maid from the mob egg (by RIGHT clicking).

is there a way to find your maid?
i lost mine and cant find her, i know she's not dead just lost out there, i was walking along and then i looked back and she was gone :(

That's strange. What mode was she in? If she's in Escort mode, or plain Fencer or Archer mode, then they are supposed to follow you, and they automatically teleport to you if you get too far away. So just keep walking and eventually she should appear nearby. If a maid in freedom or redstone mode, then yeah, they don't follow you, and unfortunately there is no way (at least none that I know of) to locate them. You'd probably have to load you world in MCEdit or some other editor and search around for the littleMaid entity (if that's even possible, I'm not too familiar with the various minecraft editors out there) Or you can use an entity detector mod and fly around until you see LittleMaid entities. AFAIK none of the littleMaidMob debug messages show their coordinates.

I do enjoy my maid running around but I cannot get her to fire any ranged weapons from Balkon's weapon mod. She just screeches hellfire and waves the crossbow/gun up and down. How'd you guys get it to work??

Right click on her while holding a book, a screen letting you choose the status of all mobs (friend or foe) will appear. Click the "Trigger Select" button and a new screen will appear. Use the arrows at the bottom until it says "Bow", then drag whatever weapons you want her to shoot into the empty inventory area.

Note this does not always work with some weapons mods, for example they don't seem to work with any of the Flan's mod guns, with those she just spams the "attacking" noise and goes through the "shoot" animation but no shooting actually occurs.

EDIT: Also how do you install the little-forces skins, I can't read Japanese and google is being less than useful.... -_-

Just put the .zip file in the minecraft\mods directory.

I'm running 1.6.2-4 in dedicated server without issues. I updated from 1.6.2-3 and no maids disappeared.

I think you haven't updated MMM as well.

I checked and am definitely running MMMlib 1.6.2-5 and LMM 1.6.2-4 (latest versions). I have also tried disabling all other mods besides LMM and MMMLib, and am still seeing disappearing maids and crashes when attempting to spawn new maids.

I see a bunch of messages like this as the server is starting up:

And all maids have disappeared, and any attempt to spawn one results in the crash message I mentioned earlier.

I tried disabling all other mods (ONLY running MMMlib and LMM), and have even tried creating a brand new world (in case something in my world was messed up). No dice.

Not sure if it matters, but I am running Forge 9.10.0.804 (latest version marked as "recommended" for 1.6.2) on a linux dedicated server (no gui).

Yes, Java coding will be required. Unless and until the developer allows loading of maid definitions by predefined text files, the models are hard-coded into the Java sources. In many ways, it is simpler for the developer (if you understand Java) but harder for the non-developer (a traditional player-only person).

The "skin graphics" are only that ... image textures to overlay on the base maid mob model. The graphics themselves don't define how the model will look; the other way around: the images match up with how they are defined in code.

.... All that being said, if you do want to do more with creating supplemental content for the LMM and MMM mods, you can always learn from books or even online resources; I would highly advise looking into A) understanding Java development, B) understanding Minecraft and the Forge resources which are available to modders, and C) understanding this particular set of mods and how they work with Minecraft.

OK that's no problem, I am quite familiar with Java, having done some Java coding for work projects as well as released a few Android apps.

So all the files I need to make a new model is in the MMM's github? Can someone point me to a specific set of filename(s) to look at?

    Thanks!

If you are adventurous enough to try developing a model, and want to see how it was done, you can take a look at the source code to LMM and assorted mods; look on github for some of the mod's repositories. You could start here... ---> https://github.com/M...ab=repositories

So is some actual Java coding involved when you create a new maid model? I thought all you had to do was actually create the maid skin graphics (which kind of looks like the same file that you download when you want to edit your minecraft skin)?
