or learn mcreator it has 3 levels for users basic, medium or advanced. medium to advanced has a bit more coding if you want your mod to have code while basic is for people who aren't that well known for coding.
unless if i'm completely off about it, make a world, build the portal to the different dimension then type setworldspawn then test it out if works by having someone else test it that doesn't have your saved world? the same thing goes when making adventure maps and how you start out there as appose to another place
