G'day, Long time no poke, Divisor, but I got a crash for you to fix. It has happened twice to me on those derpy occasions where I've died to fall damage recently (once when missing a ledge grab from a high tree, and once when toggling creative up high to check if a different crash I had had was gonna happen again). I'll toss it in a spoiler for you so you can take a look.

We've almost finished BOP support in 1.8 and are working towards full compatibility in time for Sunday's release.

And yes, BOP will still require BiomeTweaker in order to generate BOP biomes - however, we're updating the example tweaks for BOP in 1.8, so you won't have to fiddle around too much to get up and running.
    .

I see. so, BOP support for whatever people decide to enable with biometweaker and there'll be some example biometweaker files to use to get it rolling? Neato, that'll do. :)

I'm guessing you meant RTG will still require biometweaker in order to generate BOP biomes. :P

Here's an example of a single biome world made with BoP Mountain and UBC (click for full size):

Wow, awesome. I'm looking forward to giving this a whirl for first time in a 1.8.9 pack. Climbing those mountains with smart moving or flying through the valleys with archimedes ships sounds like it's gonna be great fun. :D

G'day WhichOnesPink, will 1.8 RTG be compatible out of the box with biomes o' plenty without tweaking it for those that just want them together? Or do they need to be tweaked up with Biometweaker to accomplish maximum compatibility because of some silliness with how they're coded and hence how RTG perceives and generates them into the world?

I see... Well, if you do get it working, I'd very much appreciate the chance to give it a look and see if I can get what I want out of it. You see, I want a sorta "half deleted junk world" of sorts where theys small islands of floating rubble from a world floating everywhere, and then in between I was gonna pull some shenanigans and use a mod that can generation custom set blocks as ores into the air and make it a really heavy platforming experience using stuff like smart moving and some utility mods, and then tie stuff into it and have extra dimensions as part of the adventuring progression. So uh... yeah, good luck with it then. :)

Hey, is it possible to make a world that has tiny sky islands of ground that are spread across different levels like chunks of earth and stuff? rather than the large practically overworldy sky islands I keep getting that just have space between them? I've got this so far for reference.

posted a message on Continuum Breaker [Combination game mechanic mod idea]

Hey there. Recently I've been thinking about modpacks, and how someone could make a modpack thats super retardly hard, but make it still "possible" through game mechanics that the player has control of. Well, there were a few things around but they're too integrated into their own things to be of use and can't be manipulated by a simple player in survival.

    These mechanics were:

NEI: The ability to save an entire inventory, right down to the nbt data and damage and then reload it exactly how it was later in the world or even in a different world provided the internal block and item ids hadn't gone and shuffled themselves. The problem was that it's a creative function and used buttons in the NEI window itself to use.

World savestates mod: Basically allowed players to have something that allowed you to autosave a back-up savestate of the world every so often or click a save button to create your own savestates that you could load on a whim, or in the occasion of a world corruption you could manually take out and override the world with to get it back. but like the other this one required a special menu and keybind to activate and couldn't be automated, like in the case of dieing.

Basically what I wish to be made is something that takes the inventory saving function of nei and turns it into an item that can be activated to save an inventory of stuff, POSSIBLY while blacklisting certain items from being saveable defined in a config. Then the ability to use another item which would replace your current inventory with what was saved, alternatively a version that would simply keep your entire inventory on death in the same way and respawn you with an item that would give it all back, but stop your items from dropping.

NOT as simple as keep inventory because said death inventory could be recalled say in another world where the previous might've been destroyed by hardcore death.

Then also another item that would allow the player to periodically savestate the world but also save a piece of nbt in it based on who used the savestate and upon getting killed it would instead reload the latest savestate but read that new piece of nbt and say, "this is the guy who used the savestater, so now delete all savestate items from his inventory upon world reload and possibly cause a special effect for looks", or the ability to use it prematurely to return to a savestate anyway without getting dunked on.

This could be used to powerful effect by teaming that up with inventory saver and a savestater and a thing that recalls the saved inventory. savestate yourself, go forward, get something good, save inventory, get dunked on, return to state, use inventory recall, get all stuff back. but the recall would now be gone, the saver wouldn't savestate another inventory saver and the savestater would've removed itself since it detected a state was used and removed itself. leaving you now with your original inventory post death, but back in time, without your state saving shenanigans.... Savvy?

These would be incredibly op implements for simple packs. but in the case of packs which are meant to destroy your sanity, make you get rekt in ways you never thought possible and challenge you with almost impossibility they'd be the redeeming mechanics to help you push through slowly and cheese your way through almost unbeatable odds.

    ...what do you think?

Certainly not the gravity spell I want at all, all it does is make the projectile drop, used to be there was a AOE dig spell that once placed would dig down practically to bedrock with one cast.

any configuration I can find only digs ONE layer of blocks. +1 for each duration modifier.

I suspect that is a mixture of projectile zone area of effect gravity or something along those lines. try that. since gravity modifying AoE is meant to make the aoe hug the terrain below it. so that could be it. causing every pulse of the zone to dig down 1 layer of blocks.

Thank you!!! Now, to destroy that laggy mountain next to my base!!!

Edit: Turns out that the old spell recipe didn't even had the gravity modifier :D

well that'd about do it. xD
probably the easier to think of "Variable dig" spells is something along the lines of:
    shape 1: Projectile
    Shape 2: Projectile area
    Shape 3: Projectile area radius
Shape 4: Projectile area radius radius
    Components: Dig
    or
    components: dig silk modifier

off the top of my head that spell will be just enough to go into a close to fully upgraded (witchwoods and moonstone) or fully upgraded (quartz and sunstone) altar and will get you basically a 4 mode dig spell. one for precision mining, one for 3x3, one for 5x5 and one for 7x7... for varying mana costs of course and without gravity so it's direct aim. (as long as you hit the right face of the block it'll originate from the face of that block as the center of the dig.) think of it as a tinkers hammer for ars magicians since you'll practically be a mobile quarry if you can keep yourself mana'd up. But even just having projectile, and also projectile area as a choice is a good go so you can toggle it back and forth. :) Silk is just there since I usually like silking so i don't have to smelt my cobble back. >_> but if you do the spell with silk you'll definitely need a maxed or close to maxed altar. since I think max parts an altar can do is 13 or so.

    Are
spell staves in Ars Magica 2? They are listed as one of the items on
the wiki, however they lack an actual wiki page. They don't seem to be
craftable and are not listed in NEI or the configs. If they are not
apart of Ars Magica 2, is there a chance that we can get a stave system
    in the future?

it appears your staves are in
another ars magica... er...yeah, the original ars I'm pretty sure, but
they disappeared once we got (or soon after) ars 2 and all these spells became full
custom rather than only have the presets then the mix and match late
game thing. I did look for them myself at one point cause i remember
them being a free way to cast spells at the cost of durability and such.
anyway, The return of staves could be kinda cool if the devs going at
it now can figure something else. :D

Actually, I'm putting the gravity modifier in the shape section... and it kinda fails to work. Does it need some duration modifiers? The spell just manages to dig the top layer, then disappears. Also, are the bosses like the wind or the earth guardians suppose to ignore hits? like, do they have some sort of cooldown before you can damage them again?

most definitely. they have what feels like a 1 to 1.5 second invulnerability "flashflinch" window as I call it. where as a mob usually only flashes for like maybe a third to half a second... they also don't seem to take anymore than around 10-12 damage a hit. :V

also, projectile, gravity, aoe as a shape, then whatever your spell does as a component (dig?). thats like a bread and butter gravity affected spell. unless something broke amidst all the fixes in the latest. I was pretty sure the gravity fell pretty fast, since a lot of my gravity spells hardly go as far as snowballs in the 08 version (I usually use that shape for heavy ground igniting fireballs and such). I've yet to grab 09, which is actually what I'm doing here now. :)

0.3.5a updated. this is mostly just a config update, hopefully fixing some quests sometimes not registering cause of buffed tools, turning the fairies back off, a recipe to make leather and feathers, along with yet another small batch of quests in "Tools of the Trade". Check the changelog for everything I did. Enjoy! :D

posted a message on [1.7.10] [Technic Launcher] Aetherwars Infinite, "Cause Some things are just worth fighting for..."

Modpack has recently been updated after a month and a bit of doing other things. check the Changelog for full details but now includes a bunch of small mods to improve quality of life, like armor overlay and status huds, damage indicators (slightly reduced range), Keybindings overhaul, no more recipe conflicts, cosmetic armors and armor sets mods. A small mod that allows you to make specified zones invisible to those outside, perfect for covert ops bases and another larger mod, RFtools and several mods to facilitate some stronger mobs.

Even if the pack is made for PvP (but at it's size you need one heck of a server >_<), what happens when you don't and just want to play around and team up? well, now you can find out as Apocalypse increases difficulty gradually, special AIs improve mobs and special mobs are more common.

Finally I have a new main menu, tell me what you think, and please, if you manage to make some amazing builds and take a really nice big screenshot of it and would like it to be immortalized as a main menu screenshot in it's slideshow please tell me and send it to me! I'd love to get some more screenshots for it (since it's only the normal background image right now).

Probably just some tweaks and "Whoops" fixes to be done soonish. But for now, version r0.3.5 is set to recommended. :) Enjoy!

Update of rendering of interioir of zone, happens right after you enter or leave a zone.
I'm pretty sure, that this is present in current version. I'll check on github.

Originally, i had an idea like this (and even made a block for it, set up classes). But then decided, that it's better for different mod, and then... Well, i don't have any time to work on that. I'm not only busy with updating current projects, and moving to 1.8, but also some new projects that i'm working on.

Not sure about that. Probably not, though.
As "in theory" there should be soem kind of emitter, "emitting invisibility".
    Even if that sounds weird.

    Thank you for your feedback!
    It's always appreciated!

might be lag generated by the immensity of the pack then, but thanks anyway, cause the server and internal servers definitely know it's not there, just the clients too swamped to notice a lot of the time hence the glitching out on visible invisible blocks. :V

Dare I ask what kind of projects? and will they have 1.7 versions?

and aww, oh well, static bases it is or rapid redeployment of static invis after being moved then.

and thats quite alright, always hoping to drop ideas and feedback for people where it's possible. :)

posted a message on Invisi Zones: Invisibility Made Simple.

G'day Elix, you sure have a lot of great mods around that've just slipped under the radar. :) I'm just here to mention that in my large modpack, Aetherwars Infinite I appear to have a partial glitch where the invisible doesn't update rapidly sometimes and instead makes invisible zones once you go into them remain visible once you're out of them until a block update happens. Is there a way you could tweak the 1.7.10 version (or if you're still on 1.7.10 thats fine) to hopefully force the invisible to reoccur upon exiting the zone? cause the game knows they're meant to be invisible because falling onto the blocks which are meant to be invisible will make me glitch out but touching them inside the zone the game knows everything is there now but the client seems to be a little slow on the pick up.

As far as features go how hard would it be to make "phantom structures"? As in a reverse of the whole invisible thing in that it takes something from somewhere else and saves something of a hologram of it and places a phantom of the structure at the location it is activated which will usually be the center point, but then if the player enters it the hologram fades and they're left with whats there while on the inside (so a camoflauge of sorts to make something look like something else rather than outright invisible that can be brought with you). it could be the ultimate sneaky tactic in making trapped bases that by the time someone goes into them they're already screwed. :D

As for the invisible some form of "set size" automatic invisibility that actives with a hit of the wrench could be a good idea? Like coming in like 5x5, 7x7 and 9x9 or perhaps just something that takes a pair of offsets and makes a square zone without there having to be two block points there and makes it such that it allows you to basically bring portable bases like those from better dungeon capsules or an archimedes ship of the desired shape that'll constantly have their cloaking deactivated when moved but immediately upon setting up shop or docking the ship with a rightclick of the invisible console at the new location will immediatelly pull up a new one at the desired spot. At the very best it could be wrenchable and taken with you and it will save it's offsets on the block while in your inventory and can be replaced somewhere else and immediately activated.

Anyway, thanks for that and I hope you could figure those ideas out. :)

posted a message on Question: How do you like your modpacks?

Good one, I do like a mix too, I like to keep a nice balance of magic and tech mods (not just in words but in the number of large tech mods vs magic mods) so to provide that choice, and also the fact that not a single tech or magic mod can do everything.

Like thaumcraft has wand of equal trade to quickly replace blocks without breaking them saving time.

Mekanism has cheap renewable energy and good machines that upgrade to the skies and non-tinker tools that kick all the buts.

Ars magica provides powerful offensive and defensive magic and cool bosses.

Thermal expansion has the god cables (cryo-stabilized fluxduct, infinite transfer and receive) and the widely known energy system although it's smaller systems are sometimes widely outclassed albeit easily grasped.

Tinkers practically has built in treecapitator, area digging and that "customizability" that a lot of people enjoy which with the right modifications.

Applied energistics gives you practically endless storage and intense automation (if you can grasp it) if you've got the resources and power to support it.

Open blocks and Extra utils, just so many useful blocks.

Forestry also has their autofarming and for the patient, bees that make everything renewable with the right addons.

IC2...Er... IC2... Bah, I kinda gave up on them soon after experimental extended all the recipes... (lol) you get the point (the wide point and the point to not bother with ic2. :P)

Unfortunately my need for "variety" or sometimes just a want for overwhelming amounts of things to do or the "oooh, that bit looks cool" syndrome usually ends me up with modpacks that are reaching into the 150 range of included mods which is somewhat bad cause it makes people with slower computers sad when they actually really want to play it, like I experienced with masters which actually went over the 200 line. >_<

Haven't poked this thread in a while. So I'll just say that I've updated the pack since a few weeks ago, and because of a friend's request now contains forestry and several other bee addons for those who are so inclined to farm the bees in times of peace. Because they can be a pain to find there is also a quest added in that explains/hints at a few ways to acquire bees through Ex Astris Reborn.

The so called "ending" has also been changed slightly and people who can acquire the ender dragon egg will gain some great reusable crafting recipes for making mobs which they can use to put pressure on enemies via mob inundation. :3

    Enjoy.
