    I had a similar idea, although I believe actually in order for the Creeper to detonate at will, it would more have a special bladder (or set of bladders) to hold volatile chemicals.

    Adrenaline doesn't play a role in detonation, IMO, as I would imagine any creature hit by a powerful stab would release a lot of adrenaline, and if the same goes for the Creeper, the sword hit (and possibly thereby the adrenaline) would cause auto-detonation - however, the opposite happens - detonation is temporarily averted.

    Probably a sphincter in the Creeper releases at will, mixing the chemicals (causing the SSSS sound, maybe as air is sucked in to provide a proper fuel-air ratio) and, momentarily, detonating. A sword hit would cause the Creeper to "brace" for impact, which could not only stop sucking in air, but reclench the sphincters and stop the mixing of volatile acids.

    I always saw, because of this, the Creeper having a slightly bloated midsection, due to the room this bladder-system might take up to create the complete annihilation 5-10 meters wide. Also maybe the chemicals glow, or the Creeper's body is very thin with cracks to allow minimal resistance against the explosion.

    Now, go to bed thinking about a Creeper clenching it's sphincters.... :SSSS: !

    What if you had the same idea, but with an Dual-Airlock mechanism outfitted for trapping and suffocating

    Example:
    *Someone is outside your Iron door wanting to get in. The "welcome mat" is actually 2x2 sand floor.
    *Throw a switch, and instead of letting the door open, a circuit is activate which updates the water to flood a few nearby torches, directly under the sandblocks the someone is standing on.

    It's a very good model and animation. Wish I had thought of it haha maybe I'll give it a whirl.

    Have you thought of adding a bit of body mass, just to put the "explosives"? The idea in my head would either be something like:
    :Red: A shape key animation which makes it looks like it's trembling, whilst a particle animation throws off little rubble meshes
    :Yellow: As well as or instead a glowing-green Halo material around some form-fitted cracks, making it look like a walking radiation-bomb.

    Damn that was awesome though.

    I have a fever, and the only prescription, is more creeper!

    But just to point out to those who feel it's not "in the spirit of the game" to kill yourself, remember that you:
    :Blue: May have used a boat to shoot UP a waterfall
    :Indigo: May have used a torch to hold up a block of sand
    :Violet: May have place sand over a boat to create auto-suffocation
    :Purple: May have dropped-then-recovered an item in SMP to repair it
    :Pink: May have played a modded server, to which Our Ford - Er, Our Notch, disapproves very much
    :Black: Made infinite-fire on a log
    :Grey: Attempted a trip to "The Void"
    :Red: Downloaded "Just an innocent little add-on" mod (maybe to give egg-arrows or a way to turn coal into diamonds)
    :Orange: Has once just "tried out" InvEDIT "just to make cool YouTubes
    :Glass: Et cetera, et cetera....

    The game is still ALPHA - remember? - a lot of fun is in exploits at this point, so if you are meaning to tell me you haven't tried ANY of the things here or that are remotely similar to an unexpected "exploit", you don't know what it is to have fun.

    Suicide to revert life is nothing in comparison - just another way to play the game. If it's convenient at the time, why not? If it's stupid at the time, then suffer for your stupidity :SSSS: ! And if Notch changes it so you get an extra penalty for death, then so be it, and take yer preprogrammed lumps!

    Well I must say that's more than a possibility - it's almost guaranteed.

    At this point, IMHO, one of the MOST fun aspects of Minecraft may be the new updates, new content (however small), and the best of all, new exploits in the code. While getting SMP to SSP-level is highly anticipated, disheartening will occur soon after the orgasm of BETA subsides -

    Remember, when BETA comes out, there will be massive amount of new content compared to now -- however, once that subsides, BETA one of the final steps before going GOLD, and may mostly (to almost entirely) consist of bug-hunting.

    Personally, I hope it stays in ALPHA forever :Notch: !

    Died 47 Times in the Nether b/c I didn't want to lose my 2 Diamond Blades + ALMOST EVERYTHING.

    Chain of Events:
    *Go into Nether fully equipped (wanted to build scenic base)
    *GHASTS! EVERYWHERE!
    *Cower in fear for 17 minutes while I place 1 :stone: per Min
    *Almost done building small room (Ghasts put Portal out)
    *OMG ZOMBIE PIGMEN BLITZKREIG
    *Die & Respawn
    *Run to storage, grab only spare tools + Diamond Blade

    *Portal to....WTF new Portal in Nether?
    *ENEMY AC130 ABOVE!
    *Hustle ass to old death spot
