Why does everybody assume it will be on the indie-game section of XBL Marketplace? The name of the game is Minecraft XBLA for Christ's sake.

Use a piston to continually push out the stone. The piston will "refresh" the stone generator by removing the lava and water so they can combine again.

Is there a video of this?

I don't see a problem with it, it just speeds up the game. Having to place all the blocks individually if I wanted to make lots of stairs, for example, is a real pain.

Shift + Right Click has been around for so long bro. Stairs are easy to make.

codewarrior posted a message on MCEdit: Minecraft World Editor (Now open source!)
    MCEdit, a Minecraft World Editor

MCEdit is an open source world editor for just about any version of Minecraft. MCEdit was first created to allow players to preserve anything built with several old versions of Minecraft and take them forward into newer versions of the game. It also aims to be forward-compatible with future (or even modified) versions of Minecraft. It has since been improved with brush tools for laying down blocks in different shapes, integration with the Minecraft Server to generate terrain using Minecraft’s own seed algorithms, support for multiplayer worlds, and editors for certain blocks including chests and mob spawners.

To get an idea of what MCEdit can do, just watch this tutorial/walkthrough by a famous mapmaker:

To download the latest MCEdit or report any problems you may have, head over to the official site. You can find downloads and other helpful links on the left sidebar, and news about the program's development will be posted regularly. If you want to share MCEdit, please only link to the official site at http://www.mcedit.net/. Don't upload MCEdit to a file sharing site or post links to the direct downloads. If you downloaded MCEdit from a site other than mcedit.net, I do not recommend using it.

MCEdit is continually under development. If you want to help, the simplest thing to do is download one of the "development" builds from the download page and play around with it. Post in this thread or on the issue tracker on GitHub if you find anything wrong. Be sure to include version (and build) numbers or your report won't be very helpful. Click on the Report an Issue link to find out what is needed for a helpful problem report.

A brief Frequently Asked Questions list is maintained on github. If your question isn't answered there, go ahead and post in this thread. If you think it should be included in the FAQ, just say so!

    Features:
    • Navigate the world using familiar WASD controls and mouse aiming.
    • Show the locations of dropped items, game entities including monsters and villagers, hidden ores, plus blocks with TileEntities and other Minecraft internals.
    • Load saved games from current Minecraft versions, plus the older Classic and Indev versions.
    • Limited support for Minecraft Pocket Edition saved games
    • Export blocks and game entities as a .schematic file to be imported by MCEdit or compatible programs.
    • Automatically fixes wool colors when importing and exporting between Minecraft PC, Classic, and Pocket editions!
    • Double-click on a chest to change its contents, or double-click on a mob spawner to choose what spawns.
    • Brush tool “paints” blocks in a round, diamond, or square shape with configurable size. Different brush modes will add new blocks, replace blocks, alter the top layer of the terrain or wear it down to smooth out rough objects.
    • “Paste” brush allows you to import an object with a single click.
    • “Flood Fill” brush will change all blocks that form a connected mass.
    • Clone tool makes a copy of blocks and entities, optionally making multiple clones in a line or scaling the copy up or down.
    • Clone and Import tools can rotate an object around any axis, or flip it horizontally or vertically.
    • “Filter” plugins let users add functionality to MCEdit by writing Python code.
    • Move the world’s spawn point, automatically removing blocks to make sure the spawn point is acceptable to Minecraft.
    • Move and rotate any player in a single- or multiplayer world.
    • Expand or contract the world’s size by adding or deleting chunks. Chunks are the basis of Minecraft’s “infinite” saved game format.
    • Create new worlds or add chunks to existing worlds. The Minecraft Server can be harnessed to create natural terrain that meshes with the world’s existing seed. Flatlands can also be created at any height.
    • “Analyze” feature counts the block and entity types in a selected area, optionally saving them to a .csv file.
    • Maintenance commands can delete all blocks, entities, or chunks in a selected region. This is useful for getting a “corrupted” world back into a playable state.

    (01) Will minecraft PC and minecraft xbox SMP be compatible?
Xbox & PC SMP are not yet available.

    (02) How will we get texture packs and mods?
Texture packs could be built in or download able.
There is also a possibility of being able to transfer packs with a flash drive/internet

Jeb is working on a Mod API.

    (03) How much does the game cost?
    1,600 MS-points (20 $)

    (04) When was it released?
    May 9th 2012.

    (05) Will the xbox version have SMP?
    4 Person Split-Screen, 8 person xbox-live multiplayer.

    (06) Is this an Indie game?
This game will be in the XBLA (XboxLiveArcade) So it will not be an indie game.
Australia/Ireland/etc will have access to the game.

    (07) How will servers work?
You can set your game to invite only and you can invite friends, or your friends can join your game randomly.

    (08) How will we protect against griefers?
Invite people you trust. You can kick people by pressing SELECT/BACK.

    (09) PC version is better! Using a Chatpad sucks!!
This isn't really a question, but
Xbox has a Microphone along with anyone who has a chatpad.
The only incompatibility will most likely be between Xbox and PC users talking. One with mic and other with keyboard.

    (10) How would we transfer maps from PC to Xbox?
Maps are not yet available to transfer to the game.

    (11) How will the kinect version work?
    Kinect is not available currently.

    (12) Split Screen?
The xbox version does indeed have split screen. 4 person singleplayer, and 8-person online-multiplayer.

    (13) Who is making the Minecraft xbox version?
Notch is not, 4J studios will be making it.
    Source

    (14) How will we get our skins on the Xbox?
Maybe in the future you'll go to minecraft.net and set up your Xbox Live name to your account, then when you open the game you'll get your skin? This feature is not currently available.

    (15) Will I be able to buy the game with my unused giftcode?
No, giftcodes are for the pc version. The xbox version is not being made by mojang and you will not be able to enter a giftcode anywhere. You will use your xboxlive account and buy it with xboxlive points.

    (16) Do I get this free/discount for being an alpha buyer?
    No.

    (17) When we start a world in multiplayer, will it be reset everytime we start a server, or can we select the saved map from a menu?
When you select what world you want to play on, you can check wether you want it to be"online" and also if you want it to be "invite only".

    (18) What version they will be releasing on Xbox?
    Beta 1.6.6

    (19) Xbox Avatars or Steves?
There are steves, Depending on how many people join is what skin they are assigned, in order.

    Order: Plain-Steve, Tennis-Suit, Tuxedo...

    (20) Will minecraft be for PS3 Also?
Minecraft is be an Xbox / PC / Pocket-Edition exclusive game.
Notch signed a deal with Micrososoft. Its Exclusive.

    (21) How will crafting work?
    Like this:

    (22) Will the xbox version also be bi-lingual?
Most likely, The language changing was created by jeb asking the community what the translations were to help him accurately translate the items names. It would be quite simple to change out the item name as it is just simple javascipt rather then reconstructing new blocks with new names. The name of the item is changed depending on which language you have selected.

    (23) If PC users and 360 users can connect to the same server, can I prevent 360 users from joining my server?
With the minecraft-vanilla-server software, I doubt it. Just like servers cannot detect if a person is using Linux, Mac, or Windows. Same thing with Xbox. Though people will most likely make a plugin for Bukkit to block people, just like there are already plugins for bukkit to see if people are using mods on there client. Though nobody really has a reason to make a plugin to detect Linux, Mac, or Windows. There will probably be one to detect the xbox.

    (24) Will _____ item/mob be in the release?
It will be when the game is updated the the version the item/mob was released in.

    (25) Will I get an Xbox achievement if I have ____ mod?
No, you may get an ingame achievement, if the game allows mods, but you will not get an Xboxlive achievement for it. If a mod were to give you an xboxlive achievement the mod would be modding the xbox rather than modifying the game, which is not-allowed.

    (26) What are the Xbox achievements?
Getting Wood - Punch a tree until the block of wood pops out.
Benchmarking - Craft a workbench with four blocks of wooden planks.
Cow Tipper - Harvest some leather
Taking Inventory - Open your inventory

Leader of The Pack - Befriend five wolves.
Dispense this - Construct a dispenser

    (28) Do I have to pay for future updates?
    Nope, Game updates are free.

    (29) I'm unhappy because I cannot play split-screen

We updated our pre-sale notification to inform customers that an HD screen is required for the split-screen multiplayer feature on Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. (30) How do we change our skin?

You can change your skin via the main menu. There are currently two skin packs out that you can buy.

Kastrel posted a message on The Collector: Reborn
    News!
    - List up to date as of February 1, now with 1.1 items and current snapshots!

Ever since The Collector and 2 Double Chests I have been very driven to accomplish some semblance of this goal. Filling a double chest with every item in the game is a daunting task, but in some ways, is not quite as bad as many imagine. Resource aquisition is my favorite aspect of Minecraft, and I feel I cannot build until I have a sufficient quantity of a certain item. There has been some demand for my to make my own thread on this subject for a little while, and I guess its not such a bad idea. I want to give credit to Arbitrax and Eleutherius for creating their original threads; I can never claim this was originally my idea.

The biggest difference between my final goal, and that of the makers of these inspirational threads is that I have never had any hope to truly achieve "a double chest of EVERYTHING". Maybe I'm a pessimist; certain items just sound SO unrealistic, I don't want to set my sights too high. In some ways, certain items don't seem like they warrant having. For instance, why make a double chest full of wooden shovels? I can make it at any time, it only takes 27 wood.

Some advanced items also seem like a waste of time. Using 3456 (the amount held within a double chest) of a resource is a very distinct possibility. Using 3456 jukeboxes, on the other hand . . . seems out of the question.

That being said . . . I'm not willing to entirely ignore these items, but in the name of not burning myself out, I have made a "moderate" list which will still be sufficiently difficult to achieve, without being completely out of the question. I will include excluded items in a separate list, as a bonus, but I will not feel driven to complete them until I finish.

I invite anyone to join me in this endeavor. There is no shame in trying, and then giving up. I myself have no intention of doing so.

I've gone on long enough. Here is my list and current completion, as well as a list of currently excluded items!

I don't want to sound rude, but asia is a really big continent. Seems a bit ignorant to say "asian town." Oriental-styled town may be a better way of phrasing it.

My suggestion is short, sweet, and simple. Add the ability to choose "Old School" Minecraft to play. Many of us original players still miss the old school minecraft, while loving the new updates of the new minecraft, while newer players of minecraft have never experienced Alpha. I know you guys still have backups of older versions, so I was really hoping you guys can please add this "Old School" version as an option when creating a new world.

Proof that we still love and miss old minecraft:

Some people may ask, "Why don't you just do what they did if you want to play Minecraft Alpha?"
Well, if you watched that video, they explained how it took several hours to setup, and it also took a little bit to find to correct version, and one that did not have any viruses.

If that is ever the case I litterally wont buy Minecraft you have no idea how stupid and derpy using your avatar looks in game. It's ohnestly the worst thing they could do.

xxcyylonexx posted a message on Something that EVERY game should include
Button mapping. I don't understand why it wouldn't be in every game as I don't see any negatives. Games that have it are Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout (all by Bethesda, so they know what they are doing) and those are just ones I thought of off the top of my head.

For those of you who don't know what it is:
Say you are playing minecraft on the 360. The jump button is A, but you want it to be X. You can change it to that. You can change any button you want to do the work of any other button.

It stops people from disliking the controls AND even helps out a lot of handicap people who also having trouble. Somewhere online there is a petition to force all games into it but i'm not completely sure if I can post that here. It wouldn't be hard to find anyways.

So what do you think? Button mapping for Minecraft?
