There was some naturally formed obsidian, formed by flowing water running over about half of a lava pit. I intentionally let the flowing water push me to the last block of obsidian, just before the lava pit, thinking I'd hold down shift so I wouldn't go over the edge. This idea worked, and holding down shift kept the water from pushing me IN to the lava. The only problem is, when you're holding down shift, you move too slowly to escape the speed of the flowing water, so I had to release shift, and fell into the lava, and couldn't get out... dead...

Fortunately I didn't have much on me at the time, so it wasn't that bad of a loss.

I don't use what you call checkpoints. I like the risk factor in the game, that you actually have to be cautious about what you do. The element of danger adds some excitement, and increases the sense of achievement when you do something cool/difficult. That said, I haven't yet played a Hardcore world.

I'm a big fan of Marshmallow Mateys; they're definitely better than Lucky Charms.

I like Froot Loops with Marshmallows, Honey Smacks (or Super Golden Crisp), Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese's Puffs, Corn Pops, and many others.

The thought that wooden tools were too useless has never crossed my mind. I use them just long enough to mine some stone, and never use them again. I think they're fine.

Question:What's Steve's favourite thing in minecraft world?
    Answer: 2 stacks of diamond.

Q:Why did Steve jump across the lava pool?
    A:Because there's 10 diamond ores over there.

Someone doesn't understand the definition of "joke".

Here, I have one which you will clearly find hilarious based on your idea of what is a "joke".

Q: What is Cookie Monster's favorite thing to eat?
A: Cookies (who saw THAT coming?!?!?)

I posted a thread similar to this detailing the issue a friend of mine and I have in our respective 1.0 generated worlds (though updated to 1.1 before we tried using Eyes of Ender). Neither of us can find a stronghold.

Guess we just have to live with it or make new worlds again.

I made a new world, but I miss my old one. I may just cheat to find the stronghold in my old, 1.0 world, as I assume the strongholds WERE generated, I just don't have a realistic means to find them because of a "bug".

I'm curious tho. have you tried to compare your map with one generated from scratch with the same seed in 1.1? are they very different or very similar?

I just tried this. I loaded up my 1.0 world seed "6799641299077075466" in a brand new 1.1 map, and they are totally different. My 1.0 map starts you off in an extreme hills biome, and I actually like it quite a bit. The 1.1 version of the same seed puts you next to an ocean, and you're in plains, or forest. No giant hills to be seen.

It would help if the OP posted his seed and the coordinates for the false fortress here so we could verify and bug report properly. Jeb needs to know about bug's like these.

    Here is my seed: 6799641299077075466

I don't have any Eyes of Ender, currently, so I don't have the locs handy. I believe I did make a torch tower nearby, so I will try, sometime this evening, to locate that and that will put you very close to where I was (mis)lead down down down.

try moving in another direction until the ender eyes start pointing somewhere else and try the new location you find then.

    Might be worth a shot

No, I've never actually tried a custom seed. That was only my 2nd ever SSP map that I had generated, both of them were generated randomly.

    Thanks for the input :Diamond:

Ok, if you upgraded to 1.1 before finding the stronghold, perhaps the Eye of endr is lead to where one SHOULD be, but isn't 'cause of a change between 1.0 and 1.1...?

I began my world with 1.0, but you're right, both my friend and I (in our respective SSP 1.0 worlds) upgraded to 1.1 before we started throwing up our eyes (ewwwww) searching for strongholds.

Are you pressing Q, or right clicking while holding them? If they just go straight down, it sounds Like Q to me...

I'm right-clicking... lol. I've been to and read the Minecraft wiki on the subject, have watched Youtube videos, have even successfully located a stronghold in a new creative map (via throwing Eyes of Ender, with right-click), etc., so I feel like I have a understanding of HOW to do this, but the game is not cooperating as expected, apparently.

Anyway, I read something about see-through texture packs/paks? I'm willing to cheat to confirm what I believe to be a game bug. I don't believe there is a stronghold where my friend and I have been lead. If anyone has any other suggestions on how to confirm this, please let me know. Perhaps I should post this in the bugs section?
