    Nether render/viewable distance is still much smaller/shorter than it was back in 1.0, or 1.1, there abouts. I never saw anything in any of the patch notes, so I am assuming this wasn't an intentional change.

    Bump... still an issue in 1.2.5 and the last two snapshots at least (12w24A and 12w25A). Has nobody else noticed this, and does nobody else dislike this change?

    I actually think that change makes sense. Cows have always dropped at least one piece of raw beef, haven't they? Why shouldn't pigs also drop pork? Why shouldn't pigs drop at least 1 pork each time you kill them?

    I noticed wood slabs seem to no longer burn 1.5 items per slab. I think it's probably 0.75 items per slab now, to make it in line with half of a wood block, which is what it should be equivalent too, I suppose. Not sure if it was changed in this snapshot or not.

    This happens sometimes. If you use a torch to dig out the bottom block in a vertical stack of gravel, or sand, and very quickly place the torch at the bottom, sometimes you do it so fast that the blocks above don't move. I don't know why this happens, and I suppose it is a bug, but nothing that annoying. It's been around for a while, anyway.

    I've only ever played this game single player, and the last time I played, I was using 1.2.5 (I believe so, anyway), so after downloading the 12w24a snapshot, I thought I had noticed some delay/lag when trying to intitially mine a block. After reading all the info here about them changing single player to some sort of innate server, it makes sense. What snapshot changed this? I really don't like it.

    I'm assuminmg these changes to the client are to make multiplayer function better? Maybe they could have two versions of the client? One for multiplayer, and one for single player? It's not like the game takes up that much storage space, so having two clients wouldn't be much of a chore (from a user's prospective, not sure about the programmers), and those interested in multiplayer, or singler player, could have their respective playstyle preferences optimized.

    Just loaded up 1.2.3 for the first time, coming from 1.1. Went for a ride in my Nether Minecart track, and the Nether is MUCH foggier, and the view distance is MUCH smaller. Has anyone else noticed this?

    To upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2.3, I deleted the bin folder, and let Minecraft update everything. Other than that, nothing has changed, as far as I know.

    I'm pretty sure that I read that if you want full/max speed, going uphill, you need a powered minecart track every other piece, not every 6.

    posted a message on First portal I made in my world led to a nether fortress!
    I created an extra exit portal inside the Nether, and it put me right in the middle of a dungeon in the overworld. I thought that was kinda cool.

    That's been around for a while. Just like you'll see sand suspended to the sides of other sand blocks (or other blocks) when there is nothing below it to keep it from falling (when it should fall). When you update an adjacent block (attach a torch to it, etc.) it will cause the sand to fall.

    So, wouldn't a blaze spawner be the fastest way to farm exp, since they give the most exp/mob? With a diamond sword, + strength 1 potion, they die in two, non-critical hits.

    I agree. I would like the nether to have an overworld equivalent of diamond. Something quite rare, that you actually have to explore/search for, that is quite powerful and/or useful, instead of more of the same.

    Ghasts are pretty scary if you're thunk-thunk-thunking away, building a 1-block wide bridge across a massive sea of lava inside the nether, and then you hear "Huuurrrrtt youuuu", and then the scream they let out when they shoot at you.
