Got rid of chunk errors like world holes huh?
I totally believe you
eightfifteen world holes together
I've yet to experience this bug, Is this in SMP or SSP? Or maybe it doesn't even matter.
Jul 23, 2012GIANT bug! I have gone into the nether about 4 or 5 times now, and every time I come back into the overworld, my character falls under the world and dies.Posted in: Minecraft News
This is on my own SMP server.
Edit: I'd love to hear if anybody else is also experiencing a death-on-return-from-the-void bug.
Jul 16, 2012On a SMP server, in an NPC village, if you manually create an iron golem, with 4 blocks of iron and a pumpkin, will that player-created golem also protect the villagers in the village it was created in, or do only game-generated golems protect villagers?Posted in: Survival Mode
This quote from the Minecraft Wiki threw me off a bit:
Iron Golems created by the player will not attack the player; in SMP however, they may attack the player if the server has restarted. Any Iron Golems generated through other means will not defend any Villagers, and have a habit of wandering off.
"Iron golems generated through other means", what other means? They're either generated by the player or naturally via there being enough villagers, no?
Jul 2, 2012I ran into a weird bug tonight. Now I'm wishing I had taken a screen shot.Posted in: Minecraft News
I was sprinting down a 1x2 hallway of a strip mine I had made, and I was repeatedly hitting jump to move even faster, and eventually, my hallway somehow just cut off into the void. I even got to the edge of the hallway, where it appeared to spill out into the void, and I held shift, and it stopped me from going forward, so I would have died apparently had I kept moving forward, even though there should have been a good bit of hallway remaining in front of me. I was a little paranoid, as further down the hallway was my central hub area, where all my stuff is stored, and I thought my world had gotten corrupted or something. I don't think I took a screenshot... DOH! I may go see if I can duplicate the bug.
Edit: Just tried to duplicate it, and I wasn't able to. Very odd bug though.

Are you serious?
you download it, Name it system32, find your original System32, Delete it, then place the jar.
Just in case... don't do what this guy is telling you to do, it will screw up your entire system.
Lighting bugs... very annoying. Those black patches are EVERYWHERE. You have to get right up on them, and sometimes they fix themselves, but not always.
Jun 30, 2012Posted in: Minecraft NewsQuote from Keybounce
What I want to see in 1.3:
1. Fix the lighting bugs! We have light level 0 in the daytime under overhangs, and that means mobs spawning when you should be safe (2 creepers from nowhere! Ouch!). Fix the phantom-light when a mini-chunk has light data and no block data.
1b. Give us a "/relight" command. Increment a light generation number; then, any chunk loaded with a lower generation number gets recalculated. Recalculates all loaded chunks, and then recalculates new chunks as they are loaded.
This! SO much this!
Also... I really miss how smooth true single player was. I really hope this new method of having single player as a local server can match the smoothness/response time of single player.

You have never been able to edit signs after their text had been saved already.
Oh, ok. I thought I remembered being able to edit it. No bug then, apparentlyQuote from Random_Guy_32
Villagers sell things like bottles o' enchanting, diamond tools and armor, glowstone blocks, saddles, chainmail armor... So yes, you need a lot of sugar cane but you can get quite useful items by trading.
Why sugar cane?

Bug: Can't write on signs, had to try a few times.
I can confirm this, at least for signs that have already been placed. When placing signs for the first time, you can write on them, but once they've been placed, you can't right click on them and edit the text. I believe you used to be able to do this.
Jun 29, 2012What's the general opinion on Emeralds at the moment? Are they even that useful? Do villagers even have things that are worth spending emeralds on? I thought maybe they could be used to make a really powerful, or useful potion. Maybe you could combine them with a tool to restore that tools durability by a significant amount or something. Or maybe a blacksmith villager could fully restore a tool/weapon/etc for like 10 emeralds, or something like that.Posted in: Minecraft News

yeah, the .bin folder is empty except for new snapshot minecraft.jar and the folders it generates when it "updates". i am not using force update.
Get updated to a playable 1.2.5. Come to this thread, and click on the download link here -
Save that single file, the minecraft.jar file, to your .minecraft/bin folder, and say "yes" when it asks if you want to overwrite the old file. Load up Minecraft and do NOT force update. You should have 12w26a at that point.

i found that if you change from creative mode using "cheats" ito survival you cant break blocks...btw how do i get rid of the snapshot?
delete the minecraft.jar file and reconnect and it should automatically download 1.2.5 (or whatever is current at the time)
Jun 28, 2012Remember Tetris? That was about as basic a game as you can get, but it was fun, and it certainly was bug-free. A complicated mess is much less enjoyable than something simplistic that "just works". Quality over quantity... I think this update shows that Mojang is doing it RIGHT!Posted in: Minecraft News
Jun 28, 2012Not sure if this is a bug, or what's going on, but I've enchanted 3 or 4 bows now at lvl 30 (which is max lvl, right?) and I keep getting Power III (3), and I believe Power 5 is the max. I'm wondering if this is working as intended, like Power 5 is rare, even at 30, or not.Posted in: Minecraft News

Jun 28, 2012Nether render/viewable distance is still much smaller/shorter than it was back in 1.0, or 1.1, there abouts. I never saw anything in any of the patch notes, so I am assuming this wasn't an intentional change.Posted in: News

The only complaint I have is the Pork Chop dropping buff. It's like the game is starting to become easier to beat, even on hardcore.
I actually think that change makes sense. Cows have always dropped at least one piece of raw beef, haven't they? Why shouldn't pigs also drop pork? Why shouldn't pigs drop at least 1 pork each time you kill them?
Jun 23, 2012I noticed wood slabs seem to no longer burn 1.5 items per slab. I think it's probably 0.75 items per slab now, to make it in line with half of a wood block, which is what it should be equivalent too, I suppose. Not sure if it was changed in this snapshot or not.Posted in: News

This happens sometimes. If you use a torch to dig out the bottom block in a vertical stack of gravel, or sand, and very quickly place the torch at the bottom, sometimes you do it so fast that the blocks above don't move. I don't know why this happens, and I suppose it is a bug, but nothing that annoying. It's been around for a while, anyway.Quote from unsocialman
I spotted a problem. As you can see, gravel no longer breaks when a torch is under it. The torch shouldn't be able to have gravity effected entities on it.
EDIT: I was able to break the blocks the next time I tried, however, this torch supports it. Therefore, I don't know if it is connected to the ssp lag or is a glitch.
Jun 22, 2012I've only ever played this game single player, and the last time I played, I was using 1.2.5 (I believe so, anyway), so after downloading the 12w24a snapshot, I thought I had noticed some delay/lag when trying to intitially mine a block. After reading all the info here about them changing single player to some sort of innate server, it makes sense. What snapshot changed this? I really don't like it.Posted in: News
I'm assuminmg these changes to the client are to make multiplayer function better? Maybe they could have two versions of the client? One for multiplayer, and one for single player? It's not like the game takes up that much storage space, so having two clients wouldn't be much of a chore (from a user's prospective, not sure about the programmers), and those interested in multiplayer, or singler player, could have their respective playstyle preferences optimized.

On some random places in the world small areas of blocks are completely dark for no reason. If you destroy one of the blocks, the area covered with shadow will disappear.
That's been around for a while. Just like you'll see sand suspended to the sides of other sand blocks (or other blocks) when there is nothing below it to keep it from falling (when it should fall). When you update an adjacent block (attach a torch to it, etc.) it will cause the sand to fall.
