Sweet. I opened up MC to try the new snapshot and it said "Seecret Friday update." So is Mojang telling us the update will be Friday?
No, the Seecret Friday Updates were Infdev - Alpha. It's a normal splash-screen.

No, I do not use MCEdit for my projects, I build them manually. Sorry.
Thanks, though it might take another week before the next thread update is ready - I've been having a lot of problems with this laptop of mine, and have been getting unplayable lag in Minecraft. I'm currently trying to struggle through the lag to get what I need to update the thread, and I hope to have a new computer within a week or two so I can get back to actually building stuff.

I will be doing that through the week, it just takes forever to add stuff. Slow, painstaking process. XD

However, things are starting to change a bit. My major blueprints for Panores (on The Voxel Box in SMP) are nearly done. Adventureland, the newest of the Mega-Projects, already has the first chapter (aka level) done, and I've been working hard on the second. DigiCraft is on hold (so W/13 doesn't eat up all my time right now ;3 ). And, most importantly, I'm getting things done.
My main focus right now is Adventureland (the adventure map), and getting Book 1 (note: a book is a set of 6 chapters (aka levels) taking place in one area) done. As I said above, I already have Chapter 1 done (which is fairly short, really), and am working on Chapter 2. To give you an idea of what's going on with it, here's some random pictures:
Spawn (Limbo) Room (Still a WIP)
Parts of Chapter 1

Obviously, there's still a lot to do & build. In fact, I have a whole city to build, castle, walls, & all. And, of course, I need to re-write the thread with new information, and make it in a format that will be easier to update. Re-writing this thread will take a while, and as bundles of homework or essays can be dumped on me at any time, and because of past failures to get things done on time, I can not say when I will have it (or any of my projects) done. I am working hard on getting things done, though, and have actually put off a lot of things I had been planning to do, like a comic (which I'm now just getting to) & YouTube video editing. I've given myself a lot of work to do, but I do still plan to do it. You'll just have to bear with me as I slowly get it all done. :3
And while I will no longer give out deadlines I can not keep, I will say this:Adventureland Beta starts May 10, 2011.
It'll be my Minecraft Birthday present to you all. :biggrin.gif:
Turns out that that was a deadline I can not keep. ^^;
The city walls are just taking too long to build & the city planning is eating up more time than originally anticipated. The thread will be updated with lots of new info by the 10th, though, so stay tuned. ;D

Also, now I can get started with making the first buildings in Kulshan. Yay. :smile.gif:
...that is, after the Griz basketball games. *rushes off to the gym to watch*
Also, of your first plugin, Ridge. I'll LOVE using VoxelMore, especially since VoxelDoop just loves to annoy me. :3

The basic plan for Downtown Kulshan. If you want to see any detail, you'll have to magnify it. XD
Map - Brown = Building, Light Grey = Top Path, Dark Grey = Bottom Path, Blue = Water
Buildings - Grey = Iron, Lighter Grey = Stone, Dark Grey = Cobblestone, Light Blue = Glass, Brown = Doors
The map is basically a done-deal, meaning that I don't plan to make any changes to it. I also don't plan to make many changes to the exteriors of the buildings shown, but I still may.
Here's some historical info on city-to-be:
The city will be more modern than Sealth, with skyscrapers, sewers, electricity (for mechanical purposes only), and more buildings. There'll be more usage of metals, especially iron, and no free ground within city walls (discounting parks). I'll be working solely on Kulshan until I can design some new houses for Sealth - after that I'll be going back & forth between the two.
Now, time to get building...EDIT: Due to the map being off (how, I don't know), & due to me just getting frustrated with the SMP, I'll wait 'till Monday to get started on the buildings.

The server is not fully fixed yet, so expect it to be at least day or two more. :3
In other news: During all the MC downtime I've had the last few days (this here laptop's been in ze shop getting fixed, and our main computer is even slower than this one), I've been planning & designing the next city in Panores (my small republic on the peninsula): Kulshan. The city will be directly south of the Cathedral in Sealth, on the large sand bar & around that bay (the train tracks float above it). I'm still working on finishing the plans up (and won't be on the server 'till I do so), but I'll post it up here when it's done. :3
And no, I'm not done with Sealth, I'm just having builders block on it. :tongue.gif:
Also, congrats FB! :biggrin.gif:
EDIT: Got ninja'd by a great looking castle. Good job Vagrant!

Looks like Supernatural (from the CW).
Back on-topic: It looks like I have a bunch more wheat than I ever thought I did. So I guess I horde wheat, too. :tongue.gif:

You have finally run out of Diamond you say? Well, I would lend you mine (after all, I have more diamonds than the Queen would ever use), but unfortunately for you it's counted as government funding. Sorry, old chap.
As for a good mining thread... I would lead you to my dear friend Featherblade's 'Elites Of Minecraft: The Miner' thread. It's back in those old Alpha forums, but it's still the best mining thread around - if you can get you brain around, of course.
Now, if you would kindly excuse me I have some important building to oversee.
*puts on monocle*
Cheerio.
*steps out of the way of the angry mob*

And I have to wait because I still can't connect to half the internet, including minecraft.net. ^^;

Well there's your problem. :wink.gif:
Glad I could help.

Are you using a texture pack that is missing a block or item? That would be the most likely problem - it usually happens when someone has hacked-in chainmail armor and are using a pack that doesn't skin it (like Painterly). It can also happen if you're trying to use an outdated pack or an incomplete one.
If it's not that, then I have no clue what's wrong, seeing as I don't think it's possible to hold air blocks.

Also, Java is perfectly fine for Minecraft. It gets the job done, works well with the type of game, and (most importantly) it is what Notch codes in. He's not about to switch after getting this far, and there is no need to. Switching now would just be detrimental to the development process - those are the types of decisions programmers make at the start of building a game, not 2/3 of the way through it.
Something else to note: Minecraft doesn't use 4GB of RAM - not even that 1.5GB. Try 500MB at the MOST, and your computer would likely have to be years old for that. Minecraft is CPU intensive, not RAM killing. :wink.gif:

Looks like Duko's RPG pack. If you wust head on over to the Texture Packs section (under Mapping & Modding), and look for the one with 29 Googolplex views & comments on it. ^^
