Probably will now, but I expect it will also require a Twitch account merging if not at the same time as MCF, then in the near future.

Well said. It seems more and more people have grown comfortable with the lack of privacy because, so far, it has not (noticeably) hurt them.
To that I say, so how about Equifax? That's a pretty obvious and huge breach, all because credit card companies have been selling all of our data to 3rd party credit agencies for decades.
Consider, then, the enormity of all of your online habits, many of which can be linked to real life habits which may form a basis for future discrimination in e.g. health care fees, job interviews, and even becoming a victim of < 100% accurate algorithms that pin you as a criminal or homosexual or whatever else they are targeting based on e.g. facial features.
This kind of crazy stuff is actually a very real possibility for our future, and we are all enabling it by not protecting our privacy.

The Twitch login system communicates over https, therefore the data cannot be sniffed in transit even if you are on an insecure network. If there is a keylogger running on your machine then your security is compromised regardless. The Minecraft Forum does not have access to any Twitch credentials, the login system uses OAuth which is an industry standard used by companies like Facebook, Microsoft and Google.
This is not entirely true. Man-in-the-middle attacks have been demonstrated even against HTTPS and other "secure" protocols. There is no real security online, only degrees of difficulty in acquiring one's data.
And all of that excludes how the vast majority of breaches happen - human error/stupidity/maliciousness from someone on the "inside," e.g. poor Bob the admin who knows nothing about IT and falls for a phishing scheme, or a disgruntled employee handing out the keys to the universe.
By merging accounts, there is no getting around that we are, in fact, less secure. Sorry to break it to you. -

So, now it is no longer optional...
I guess I won't be posting here any longer, then, and will have to take down my mods before I go since I won't be able to touch them after the 23rd. They can still be found on planetminecraft for the time being for anyone that wants them, even though they haven't been updated past 1.8.9.
It's been fun, folks!

That new birch... yuck. I actually really like the current birch texture.
The new brick is on par with the old brick for me - both could use some improvement.
Don't have strong feelings about the other textures, old or new. Seem fine to me, but I'm not an artist.

I know, right? Now if only I could motivate myself to update my mods past 1.8.0, rather than enjoying my life.

We just hosted Hour of Code for the local school and the kids (~7 to 10 years old) all really enjoyed the Minecraft-themed coding challenges. While it doesn't go into much depth, it is a great introduction to coding and helps pique their interest - it was fun encouraging them to complete the challenges with the bare minimum number of lines
Perhaps some of them will continue on using a site such as CodeAcademy to further their knowledge in a still-somewhat-fun environment.

PC edition only used to have WASD controls - now it uses the mouse to veer left/right, and WS for front/brake, meaning you can no longer free look with the mouse while cruising along the waterways

It's the old "Free sample now you're hooked!" gambit aimed at those who don't know about any other options. Hopefully your comment at least gets people to research other options before paying such a high price. Me, I'll stick with LAN xD

If any mod deserves to be implemented in vanilla Minecraft, it would be Mine & Blade: Battlegear. I just hope that Mojang doesn't simplify it too much - the quiver in the picture, for example, looks like it doesn't actually store arrows, it just uses the ones from the slot next to it, whereas Battlegear you can store up to 4 arrow types and easily toggle between them.

Dual-wielding, shields, new weapons - all been done (and done well) by Battlegear2.
Sword skills such as parry, dodge, and many devastating attacks have been done by me in Dynamic Sword Skills. Could use some sweet animations, but the mechanics are pretty solid, imo, and dang fun both in PvE and PvP.
Anyway, there are probably tons more mods like these out there that already do great things for Minecraft combat (siege weapons?!? heck yeah) - I wonder if they will adapt any of these mods / ideas, or if they have something completely different in mind.

There will still be discussion of this mod on PlanetMinecraft and, for as long as it lasts, CurseForge.
I'm heading on a trip tomorrow for a week, so this is probably my last post here.
Thanks again to everyone for helping to make this mod possible. I'll do my best to get it updated and will post any news on PlanetMinecraft.

Due to no longer being able to access my account here without creating a Twitch account, all downloads and discussion can now be found at PlanetMinecraft.

Lol. Hey, at least you have a PC! I've got a (free) 1050Ti on standby for my new build, so it won't exactly be a beast of a machine either, but at least it will be something.
It's been a very long wait, but by the end of November I'm hoping to have everything at least purchased so I can be back in business come December!

I'm not sure about 1.10, but I'm pretty sure 1.12 loot is generated when you open the loot container (e.g. chest) for the first time, as opposed to say 1.8 and earlier where loot is determined when the chunk is generated.
So, assuming ZSS gets updated to the newer versions where that is the case, yes, you would be able to get any new items added to the loot table when opening previously generated chests, assuming it was the first time that chest had been opened.

I don't want a Twitch account and don't want to support companies that force their users to do things they don't want to do.
Simple as that.

Hey all, I just saw the news on the front page / top banner that I will no longer be able to log in starting on Oct 23rd unless I create a Twitch account, which I am not going to do.
As such, I will be taking down my mods from here/Curse since I will not be able to edit them any longer.
They will still be up on PlanetMinecraft as long as that site remains reasonable, and I will respond to comments there.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Yeah, those are great. I've had one for a long time that I use with a variety of 2.5" drives I've accumulated over the years. I've already backed up the critical data from my laptop, but all hard drives die, eventually... better make another backup!
Ha, warranty! I wish my warranty lasted 6-7 years or however long it's been since I bought that computer. It served me very, very well, so no regrets on my part.
I was hoping that Intel's Coffee Lake launch yesterday would have spurred some great sales on the AMD Ryzen processors, but no luck yet as apparently there are very few Intel chips available for purchase. I'm guessing there will be some good sales all around this November and December, though!

That's what I was thinking - set to 0 to use fatigue only. The value will have to be synchronized to the client, though, which is an extra step but not a feature killer.
Yes, I had a computer basically die. No, I didn't lose any work (yet...) because the hard drive didn't fail and, technically, the computer still boots. It just makes very loud angry noises and gets super hot right away - I'm thinking dead CPU fan but it's a laptop and I'm too lazy to tear it apart myself and computer shops don't want to touch it.

Re: Sword Beam magic config - do you mean for the amount, or to use magic at all?
I had implemented restoring magic by sleeping at one point, not sure what happened to it but it should be easy enough to add.

The best-performing version of Minecraft for me was 1.6.4 - still my favorite by far.
1.8+ is sluggish during startup, but decent enough once in game. Granted, I don't play with mods, so I imagine the performance is better for me.
There are backpack mods...

@smashbro596 - I like the idea of a bow that can shoot multiple arrows at once, and it wouldn't be difficult to implement since I already tackled that problem with the slingshot.
There should be the appropriate version of the manual included with the mod, i.e. if you open the .jar using an archiving program such as 7-Zip, you should be able to extract the manual from one of the folders in there.
I'll have to get back to you on the question of Zelda, however, as it's been a long time and I'm about to head out the door! Hopefully it's in the manual.

Moving forward for 1.9.4 will see the removal of BG2 in favor of Minecraft's built in right- and left-hand mechanics. I don't anticipate things like dual-wielding right off the bat, just sword and board for now. Without BG2 to provide their nifty quiver, I will be implementing my own that has similar functionality, as well as a seed pouch for the slingshot.
Things such as dual hookshots, bosses, and most other new content will have to wait until I've caught up to the latest version of Minecraft / Forge.
All of the content from TheRedMajora's addon will be added to the main mod but not really integrated into loot or drops, but still available via the creative tab, commands, etc. With the new loot system for 1.9.4+, it should be simple enough for those that wish to add those items to whatever loot pools they want without touching any code.
I'm really hoping to be building a computer come Black Friday / Cyber Monday this year, and if I am able to afford to do so, I hope to resume work on the mod on a part-time basis during the winter. Progress will be slow due to limited time, but there will be progress.

The supporter's stuff isn't part of ZSS - I believe that was put in by TheRedMajora for the ZSS Addon that he made. Since he is no longer developing that, I will probably merge most if not all of the items into the main mod as optional content (all of which would be freely available to all - I'm not a huge fan of exclusive content), when I get back to modding, that is.
I would recommend holding off on any donation (as much as I would appreciate it!) until I at least resume development of the mod and, preferably, once you come into unimaginable wealth.

Well, Optifine doesn't seem to like some of the ZSS textures:
[01:33:14] [Client thread/ERROR]: Unable to parse metadata from zeldaswordskills:textures/blocks/fire0_layer_0.png java.lang.RuntimeException: broken aspect ratio and not an animation
That, however, seems to be the least of your worries. There are so many errors in there from all sorts of different mods that I can only wonder how you can get it to run at all.
EDIT: Actually, I found the network issue - the Little Maid mod does weird stuff with fake player entities and has issues when that fake is expected to behave like a real player by other mods such as ZSS in certain contexts. If you remove the Little Maid mod, you shouldn't experience the particular issue that brought you here.

They should be in the ZSS section.
