@Misa: I think some of your new Textures for 1.4 aren't compatible, with the changes of the newest snapshots. The beacon block for example. Or some textures doesn't exist like the anvil. I hope you worked on this .
Oh I forgot, your Texturepack is amazing, I like the connected textures the animations of course. But I have three suggestions:
1. It would be cool, to see the golden aplle with an animation similiar the golden carrot.
2.The brewing stand have an animation, whos cool. But I thing the animated glowing is to fast, and the glowing coolors are like a rainbow something. I thing it would be better, when it is similiar to the blaze root animation.
3.The glass panes, they haven't a border and because of that it's difficult to see them. I think it would be better, when they have a border like the glass blocks, especially on the edges.
Thats my opinion . Sorry for my english I'm german
i'm sure misa is working on it, misa does a good job with snapshot compatibility, and i'm sure it makes it easier to have it ready for the full update
I love this pack, especially the lighting, although I really cannot get the full effect on this machine, I have used it on a gaming comp before, and had zero issues w/ optifine compatibility, so it might just be my computer, or 1.3 optifine causing it. either way, it is almost the perfect pack, and while I do wish it had higher res versions, 64x is probably the best res as far as compatibility goes, and I have noticed that graininess problem with 128 and 256x packs.
in 1.2.5, back when everything was relatively stable, I switched to this from a 256x pack, and I find that this one looks far better, and actually reduces eye strain, probably due to the softer lighting (in my opinion, one of the best features of the pack).
ps: sorry misa, didn't intend to start that, and your right, there is simply no way to guarantee that every pack is compatible with every mod.
You realize that this is fallacious slander and that personal attacks and flames are against the posting rules, yes? And seeing as you're not me, who are you to say what my stance is on anything?
As a mere three paragraphs constitute a "wall of text" you are apparently incapable of comprehending the meaning of I will set the record straight once and for with a simple bulleted list of facts:
I am not a vocal hater of Optifine.
I've willingly used Optifine many times in the past.
Optifine does not support all the features MCPatcher does plus more. It simply has a different set of features with some overlap.
I'm absurdly progressive, but also somewhat of a pragmatist. I value having more options over fewer on all of my software--new or old.
For my texture pack I place the most value on features that give me more creative control as an artist over (in lieu of) things like performance improvements--MCPatcher simply offers many more features I enjoy (and helped design) than Optifine currently does. If this were to change, there is no stubborn brand-loyalty holding me back from switching.
The extra performance features Optifine provides over MCPatcher are of no use to anyone with a decent gaming machine and minimal experience with video card tweaking.
MCPatcher works for snapshots within 24 hours of their release. Optifine does not. My pack needs to always be up to date with snapshots to be ahead of schedule for timely releases.
The only real annoyance I derive from anything related to Optifine these days is from its rabid fans who think I'm actively out to destroy Optifine or something along equally silly lines because of their inability to deal with the fact that their program of choice cannot handle all the features of this pack or multiple versions of Minecraft simultaneously.
I would only like you to consider the majority of the users. i'm not trying to get you to drop mcpatcher altogether, just keep in mind how few minecraft players actually have gaming rigs. I for one, do not, and so i'm stuck with 10 fps or less without optifine, as all I have at the moment is a laptop wit intel graphics. also, I have used mcpatcher before, and it's a pain in the ass to do anything reasonable with, like adjusting the ram allocation, or changing mod configurations, besides which, optifine has far more options (including far more view distances, such as extreme). that is not to say that it doesn't have its own issues, but most are something a modding laucher will fix. i presently use x-ray, keybinds, and rei's minimap, as I am a server admin. I suspect that if i were to try mcpatcher, my laptop would start on fire....
i am building a new gaming rig, and I'll try out mcpatcher on that, oughta give me at least 60fps what with the HD 7950 i'm putting in.
what would be awesome would be like something combining the performance enhancements and customization of optifine with the reliability and graphics features of mcpatcher
Sure Optifine does more, but I don't see Optifine with better glass? Custom colors? Better skies? Snapshot compatibility? I mean seriously, you actually have to resize the zombie texture for it to work correctly.
it does have all of that, and boosts you FPS by like 50-100% or more, not to mention it lets you adjust things to ur liking
@misa
i have probs with it. when i set my settings on fancy, water stops rendering.
yes, i'm using optifine BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A DAMNED GRAPHICS CARD (i really like being able to have at least 30 fps in mc), and i like to be able to use other mods without crashing...
aside from that, love the pack, althoguh in fast mode, the lighting doesn't work... maybe at least try to make it compatible wit MOST OF YOUR USERS. I really do not care if you don't like optifine, but please don't screw the rest of us over, you have such a great texture pack, and i'd hate to have to use a different one because I can't get my mods to work with mcpatcher.
it works now, I changed it back to a .zip, as .liteloader doesn't work right... just hooked it into my launcher and it works (after I repackaged the zip)
umm, WHY is the best method of mod installation... i.e. installation via mods folder, not supported. you do realize that most of the people who use mods use a modding launcher...
now 'I have to go through the humungous pain of cracking open my mc.jar
srsly dude... magic launcher doesn't even recognize that it is a mod...
managed to repack it to install, but it doesn't even work
such a useful mod... but it's going the way of windows 8
You're sure you have Java 64 bit installed? To check, open a command prompt and type java -version .
Also, check the allocated RAM during Minecraft by pressing F3. What does it read? (Please post here.)
Can you post your RAM report, too? Press F3 during play.
it is 64 bit JDK and JRE 8
tried it on java 7 as well
magic launcher is set to 4100 mb ram
f3 says 3929 mb allocated, uses only 500 mb w/o optifine, ~20 fps
f3 say same allocated, but like 20% used w/ optifine ~10 fps now
i guess i don't loose as much fps now, but I still am not gaining any
all my settings are on fast, with multi-core chunk loading
using the misa 420 tex pack
Interesting. The computers that Optifine actually hinders performance on exist, but are quite rare.
I have the same prob, get like 10 fps w/o optifine, but i get like <1 fps with it.
win7 64bit
latest java 8
Intel HD graphics on a sandy bridge laptop cpu
8 gigs ram, 6 allocated
lowest settings on minecraft, even the title lags really bad
using magic launcher
not mah internet, i got 300mbit connection
computer is only like a month old.
modloader is broken, it crashes my minecraft every time i start it with modloader. an older preview i have works with 1.3.1, but the 1.3.2 does not work with any versions.
