Here is my Castle that I have been working on for what seems like years...actually it has been years! Here are a few videos detailing the exterior and part of the inside of this castle.
I would also suggest adding variation to the block types you use. I tend to avoid using square building designs as well, so perhaps experiment with different geometric shapes in your builds!
This is my minecraft castle. It's not nearly finished, but has been a really big project for years ( I started this back when Beta MC became a thing!) Obviously new blocks have led to extreme refinement, but my build style is all about furnishing everything and trying to keep things detailed. No mods have ever been used in this things creation.

I believe some of the reasons my creation should be considered is due to the immense and detailed interior as well as the continued process it has been in. The creation is not complete yet, but the progress that has been made gives an intriguing atmosphere for a Minecraft minigame or adventure map. Notable features that have been completed are the Main Entrance hall, the 30 some furnished guest rooms complete with heating for all, Dinning hall and kitchen, wine cellar and chapel. This construction has been in the process for 3 or 4 years, yet the real progress only happened this year. I began this in the days before upside-down staircases were a thing, and since then it has gone through refinement over the years. The flat nature of this castle will not remain, as I only used this map to design the main parts of the castle. I will terraform the environment extensively to make the whole thing look much better. Amnesia: The Dark Descent as well as the Palace of Versailles
Hey guys! This is a little project I've been working on for a few months. I built this as an Amnesia-esque building that would look super spooky when dark, and has done well so far! It is by no means complete, but takes for EVER to build haha. Check out the video I made detailing the Entrance Hall of the castle! XD Thanks for your time guys
I have been building a castle with a dark vibe for awhile now. I think it would be a great map for a mod of some sort! Do any of you have experience with something like that? The castle is not done yet (and won't be for a good long time) but I was wondering what the interest in something like this would be. I think you should add this I think it will fit XD. But seriously, i think a nice garden would be cool, especially with the awesome flowers we have now
