I'm in the process of building a base and have hit a bit of a creative roadblock when it comes to implementing elements from Thaumcraft into it. I'm wondering if anyone has some unique ideas on how I could integrate things like the Infusion Altar or the Infernal Furnace into my base. Even just some screenshots of your own Thaumic homes would be a lovely source of inspiration.

I personally put the infusion altar on the roof because of it's size (also it makes a nice roof decoration) and an infernal furnace on the bottom floor with a hole in the ceiling above it so i can throw in ores from the first floor.

But is void metal really black, Or is its appearance merely censored out by your brain?

It's grown from seeds. For all we know it could be some kind of eldritch flesh, so incomprehensible our brains just say "f*ck it. There's nothing there. Nothing to acknowledge. None at all. Nope."

Kind of unsettling really, To know your robes could very well be alive as you wear them. Breathing and squirming around you.

You don't have trouble taking them off, Do you?

I always assumed it was a sort of "seed crystal" and that in the cauldron it starts to assimilate the essentias into more of itself untill it grows into an ingot-size.

An inexplicable black spot in a somewhat bright scenery stands out, too.

Even in darkness a black shadow often stands out

Void Metal is basically impossible to damage, it's a bizarre memory metal that will rearrange correctly if it has not been torn apart.

Thaumium felt mostly normal like a metal, but a very powerful magical capacitor,
which, I assume, is irrelevant to its interaction with fire, as gold is also a good magic capacitor but the worst at keeping fire away, due to how well it conducts. Thaumium, on the other hand is commonly modified into being extremely resistant to fire. It might have to do with its fabric padding, but snce void metal does not produce the same result it is most likely a property of Thaumium.

Now we know void metal does not give especially strong protection against fire, but how it really interacts with fire is quite bizarre. It feels warm to the touch, which suggests that it insulates, but we know it doesn't.

If the metal handles fire like magic, then we know it does not absorb it at all, but lets it straight through.

Also considering that it is a very dark metal it is also susceptible to the influence of light.
We have not tried giving it a mirror polish yet. Maybe it will be ineffective, maybe it will burn us, suck the heat straight out of us or even render us invisible, who knows?

My guess is that giving void metal a mirror finish will make it very nice looking and basically make it impossible to sneak anywhere because enemies will see you from miles away

Makes me wonder what would happen if i built an draconic reactor in there and made it detonate after filling it up.

I think we have enough holes in reality, but i imagine something similar to introducing a primordial pearl to node

Why Notch decided diamond would be the top tier of armor in the first place is beyond me. Diamond would actually be an awful, horrible, terrible material to try to make armor from.

Thaumium Fortress, on the other hand is the best Minecraft armor ever. There's a few ridiculously-high-end, near-god-level armors from other mods that offer better protection, but they don't even come close to looking as awesome.

Due to minecraft physics instead of materials having a hardness and toughness, they have mineability and blast resistance, so anything that is hard (like diamonds and obsidian) is automatically also tough, making it an ideal material for tools and don't shatter under stress like on earth (as you can notice you can smith diamonds on an anvil).

So will there only be one of the gauntlets (idk the name for em' ) the wands obviously had tiers, so will the glove (can someone tell me what it will be called?) have multiple crafting materials it can be made out of?

I assume there will be, but it will probably only affect the efficiency of them (they would draw less vis when used).
Though maybe a "potency +1" gauntlet could be interesting too, but we already can modify the foci in that regard.
I can assure you that in any case people will add cosmetic variants of them in addons,

By all means, a world in which aura is limited to inside tangible nodes is not compatible with one in which aura is omnipresent and nodes are merely portals of it that float around freely.

So I assume, but does it mean it is a different world, or did some thaumaturge discover secrets that were so deep in the core of thaumaturgical physics that his meddling broke magic and it turned into the system we have now, or did the nodes just slowly start to unravel, leaking vis into the envioronment over time, turning themselves intangible in the process?

someone posted a theory (many pages ago) that TC5 actually takes place before TC4. the bluish-purple totems you find in TC4 are long-abandoned node-attractors like the kind you can build in TC5

Makes sense, but weren't nodes tangible in TC4?
What kind of event would cause nodes to suddenly become tangible for an era, making node attractors temporarily bested by glass jars?

Also why will we soon enter an era of node scarcity where nodes no longer just grow on trees (from what I heard)?

Maybe the monks of balance went around sealing off holes in spacetime and ended up also sealing up most of the nodes?
Or maybe some mad thaumaturge decided it would be fun to invent a better node atractor, ended up sucking up 90% of the nodes in the world into a transdimensional singularity which promptly imploded his house into some other dimension?

I'm still bagging for more detail into the crimson cult, imagine learning enough eldritch magic, the crimson cult no longer were hostile towards you,

or more armor, i'll always accept more armor in a mod

Does anyone have any new knowledge they're allowed to share with us at this point? anything new really, like i dunno is it past alpha 8 yet?

I always thought that since you learn how to open the portal, you know a bit more than them, so it's probably not about knowing less than them and that they are just elitist jerks who want to keep the secrets for themselves.
Though I'm not sure how they can tell you aren't one of them when you are wearing their armour, maybe they have a secret handshake?

Do you mean rifts into a dim door dungeon spawning in world? If so, the infrastructure and loading of dungeon schematic files for them exists but aren't implemented yet. Our focus has been on dimensional doors themselves at the moment.

Since you plant to reimplement the dim dungeons later, do you plan to use purely the already existing dungeons, going to add some dungeons you made yourself, or are you planning to ask the comunity to make some of their own and than implement the best ones?

I doubt wands will be phased out entirely.

If you mean for casting, they will be replaced entirely, afaik.
Though maybe they could be kept as some kind of vis storage thingie? They always remined me of a really long D batteries.

A time reverse spell would be awesome, however the only problem with it would be that the game would constantly need to be saving what happened 5 seconds ago, witch would cause some massive lag issues. However there have been time rewind spells made in other mods such as psi, ars magica, and thaumic tinkerer, were you could recall yourself to the location / status of earlier after having saved it before hand. Also in the mod roots 2 there is a time stop spell.

Yeah, rewinding time in an area would be really laggy, so if we are erasing past a personal zone would be a way to go (would be cool if it turned it back exactly as it was, not just location wise).

Don't get me started on freezing time though, there are so many possible ways to implement it and I have a long list of ideas:
-freeze everything in an area (not very usefull)
-freeze everything but yourself in an area (usefull for getting away)
-same, but frozen things can still take damage (probably too usefull)
-same, but things only take damage when they are unfrozen (realistic but dificult to implement)
-same, but things retain their velocity after they are unfrozen (ditto, could allow to stack arros in midair, jojo style)
-freeze everything but yourself including air, so air is either thick as a liquid or solid and you have to break it to move (realistic but kinda pointless if it's only for 5 seconds)
-freeze time in an area around you that moves with you, would allow you to walk on liquids, fire, etc. (really cool, but might lag, would probably extend over 5 seconds)
-freeze a single mob in place (would make sense that damage is stacked once it unfreezes, a more combat oriented focus)
-create a wall of solid air for a few seconds (a more niesh tool, but would be cheaper)
    etc.

It was a Jojos reference I'll admit, but not to Dio... rather to part five's enemy stand named "King Crimson", Hence why the Crimson King should drop it. Time Delete in minecraft temrs, essentially creates a period in which consequences are ignored, no health is lost and no destruction can happen (from fire or explosions) and any statuses gained (withered, weakness, etc.) are lost when it ends. You can't exactly wipe people's memory of it with code, but at least you can negate their actions aside from movement for a few seconds.

I mean it is possible to just have an "undo the last 5 seconds in the area around you", so you don't mess up what other people were doing.
I mean it sounds op, but you obviously can't cast it if you died and also how often did you burn in lava for more than 5 seconds before remembering you have a water bucket on you?
Also would be perfect for testing traps, walk into one than time delete.

Time Delete? What would that be like?

Time delete by definition would be to delete time, either the future (you become intangible for a short time) or the past (undoes everything that happened int he last few seconds)
