Gulliver the Resizing Mod
Enjoy Minecraft from a different perspective!
New features:
- Updated to Minecraft 1.6.4!
- Mod installers!
- Better climbing blocks when tiny! No more falling straight down the instant you stop moving!
- Plants will now help break your fall when tiny!
- Tweaks to Bat riding! As always, hold String and use the forward/back keys to control the Bat. Try naming your Bat for even more useful features!
- Added Romanian and Slovak language support!
- Somewhat better handling of custom blocks added by other mods, including Little Blocks!
- Even more fixes and tweaks!
Doesn't quite work with Smart Moving, Player API, More Player Models, and more!
Important tips:
- Backup your world files before trying Gulliver or Gulliver Forged! You have been warned!!
- Don't open Minecraft 1.7 or 1.8 worlds in older versions of Minecraft!
- Gulliver (or Gulliver Forged) should not be installed into the minecraft jar file or the mods folder. Use their installers instead.
Gulliver includes localizations for Polish, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, French, Italian, Turkish, Czech, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Finnish, Hebrew, Arabic, Pirate, Russian, Ukrainian, Filipino, Romanian, and Slovak!
Translations are by yours truly, and may be of varying quality - corrections and suggestions are appreciated.
(Note: I pick which languages to add based on the countries that visit my adfly links - yours could be next! )
Little Blocks users:
Little Blocks will work just fine with Gulliver Forged 0.14.3 for 1.6.4!
You'll need to download the older MC 1.6.4 versions of Little Blocks and SlimevoidLib, specifically Little Blocks 2.2.3.1 and SlimevoidLib 2.1.0.0.
Important warning for 1.6.2 Gulliver + LB users!
Opening Little Block 1.6.2 worlds in 1.6.4 may cause blocks in Little Block areas to disappear, especially Chests, Furnaces and other "Tile Entity"-based blocks. Backup your world, then remove all "Little" Chests etc. and their contents before using 1.6.4!
If playing with Gulliver Forged 0.14.2 for Minecraft 1.6.2, you'll need to download the older MC 1.6.2 versions of Little Blocks and SlimevoidLib, specifically Little Blocks v2.2.0.1 and SlimevoidLib v2.0.2.0.
Two things you should know when playing with Gulliver and Little Blocks:
/basesize 0.125
or Ensmallening Potion II or 3 stacks of Cyan Dye- Gold Armor (any piece) will slow you down
- Do not upload Gulliver to fileshare or mod hosting sites

Introduction[/anchor]
Howdy folks!
My mod is called Gulliver.
It's named for the book Gulliver's Travels, though much of the inspiration comes from The Borrowers, Alice in Wonderland, and other size-related stories.
What it does
From the outside, it looks just like plain vanilla Minecraft. There are no new blocks, items, entities or biomes - just two Potion effects.
But with Gulliver installed, you now have the ability to change your own size or the sizes of mobs and NPCs!
The world works differently when you and mobs change size. See what happens!
Starter tips for tiny players:
- Watch your step
- Hold Shift or sprint to jump 1 Block high
- Some Blocks are climbable!
- Hold Paper to glide, Slime Ball to climb, or Lily Pad to raft
- Hold an Item for greater reach, attack power and digging speed
- Hold something pointy (like a Stick or Sword) to pry open Chests or Doors
- Try the Fishing Rod grappling hook
- Beware of Cats and Spiders!
- Watch your step - falling hurts!
- Hold Shift to jump higher
- Try punching Blocks or Mobs empty-handed
- Step or jump on Mobs to hurt them (or else hold Shift to sneak over them)
- Right-click drops empty-handed (or holding a Bucket) to pick them up!
- Right-click Mobs empty-handed to pick them up! Then use left-click to throw them, 'Q' to toss them, right-click to place them, or 'V' to set 'em on your shoulder!

How to Change Size[/anchor]
You get 3 different ways of changing size in Gulliver! (Note that the resizing methods combine, so a Potion of Embiggening doesn't make you 4 times normal size, but 4 times the size you'd be without the potion effect.)
Resizing Potions
Brewing recipe:
- Add Nether Wart to Water Bottle to make Awkward Potion.
- Add Red Mushroom to make Potion of Embiggening, or else: Add
- to make Potion of Ensmallening.
Potion of Embiggening makes you 4 times your height, Potion of Embiggening II makes you 8 times your height.
Potion of Ensmallening makes you 1/4 your height, Potion of Ensmallening II makes you 1/8 your height.
You can drink Milk or a Potion with the opposite resizing effect to remove the effect.
Resizing Dyes
Having a stack of Cyan Dye in your inventory will make you half your size, and a stack of Purple Dye (was Magenta Dye in versions 0.13.8 and older) will make you twice your size. You can have multiple stacks of dye to apply the resizing multiple times, so 3 stacks of Cyan Dye will make you 1/8 size, and 3 stacks of Purple Dye will make you 8 size. Applying dyes to Sheep and tame Wolves' collars will resize them too.
If you don't want to allow it in singleplayer, edit the "enable-dye-resizing" option in the Gulliver config file (either Gulliver.cfg or GulliverForged.cfg) in the config folder of your Minecraft game directory:
B:enable-dye-resizing=falseIf you want to disallow it on a server, edit the same property as above in the Gulliver config file in the config folder where your Minecraft server resides.
Resizing Keys
Note: This requires both "Cheat Mode" (or Op permission on a server) and Creative Mode to work.
You can adjust your size by pressing the 'R' key to double your current size and the 'F' key to halve your current size. (Size limits are 1/8 for smallest and 8 for largest.)
If you hold a Stick and point it at a mob, then the 'R' and 'F' size changes will apply to the mob you are pointing at.
The player or mob will stay that size unless affected by a resizing Potion or Dye.
Resizing Commands (advanced)
Note: This requires "Cheat Mode" (or Op permission on a server.)
Use the /basesize command to directly set your base size. This is normal size:
/basesize 1.0This is 1/4 normal size:
/basesize 0.25This is 3x normal size:
/basesize 3.0Base size limits are 0.125 for smallest and 8 for largest.
You can even give an "actual" size, like so:
/basesize 200cm
/basesize 5ft4in
You'll keep that size unless affected by a resizing Potion or Dye.
Configuration Options
If you want to start a new world at a particular size, like for doing a survival challenge, change the "base-player-size" option in the Gulliver config file (either Gulliver.cfg or GulliverForged.cfg) in the config folder of your Minecraft game directory. To start new worlds at 1/8 scale, use this:
S:base-player-size=0.125

Mechanics(How Things Work When Resized)
[/anchor]
So, what difference does changing size make?
Ensmallened players:
- have shorter reach for using/hitting blocks
- take longer to travel the same distance as a regular-size player, and also need to jump more
- don't jump as high (but can hold Shift or sprint to jump up a block)
- have to hit blocks longer to break them - even flowers and torches
- do less damage when attacking
- get hurt more when attacked
- can get stepped on by larger players or mobs
- don't activate Stone Pressure Plates (but do activate Wood or Gold ones)
- have trouble fighting moving water currents (but they can claw along the side/bottom of a stream)
- take longer to eat or drink
- are more vulnerable to Poison effects
- get hurt by Roses but not Cactus
- will slowly drown in rain if extra-tiny (1/8-scale)
- may need to hold something pointy (e.g. Stick, Sword, Hoe) to open Doors, Trapdoors, Gates and Chests, and to activate Buttons and Levers
- ...
- can do cool new stuff with some Items - hold Paper to glide through the air, Lily Pad to raft across water, Slime Ball to climb walls, right-click mobs with String to ride them, and use the Fishing Rod as a grappling hook
- can climb some kinds of blocks, like Leaves, Grass, Gravel, Cloth, Cactus, Cake, and more
- can climb free-hanging Vines - hold down Shift and keep jumping
- can walk under upside-down half-slabs and through other small spaces
- don't activate Tripwire - but they can climb and walk on it
- get ignored by normal-size mobs (unless you attack them) except for NPCs, Golems, Ocelots, Spiders, and Silverfish
- wear out tools less quickly
- get more benefit from eating food
- get more XP from killing larger creatures
- suffer less damage from falls
- get more benefit from Regen effects
- can double-up on Beds in multiplayer
- ...
- have longer reach
- can travel great distances with less exhaustion, and step up 2-block high inclines without jumping
- jump higher than usual (and can hold Shift to jump even higher)
- break blocks with fewer hits
- can punch and break multiple blocks at once (in Survival)
- do more damage when attacking
- can walk, jump or fall on smaller mobs or players to "squish" them (or else sneak to not hurt them)
- get hurt less when attacked
- take less time to eat or drink
- are less vulnerable to Poison effects
- can "press" Wood or Stone Pressure Plates like they're Buttons
- can pick up and place, toss, or throw smaller entities (right-click to pick up or set down, 'Q' to toss, left-click to throw)
- don't get hurt by Cactus
- can walk through Leaves
- can pick up dropped items by right-clicking them empty-handed or while holding a Bucket
- ...
- need wider gaps to walk through (forests and caves are a pain)
- can't punch entities or break/use blocks through narrow (1-block-wide) gaps
- wear out tools more quickly
- get less benefit from food
- get less XP from killing smaller creatures
- suffer more fall damage, and may break blocks when they land (in Survival)
- can't sleep in Beds
- can't ride Boats or Minecarts (or smaller Saddled Pigs)
- get less benefit from Regen effects
- don't auto-pickup nearby dropped Items - need to right-click on them
Tiny players can ride larger entities by right-clicking on them while holding String. This includes larger players in Multiplayer!
Hold on tight by holding String or a Slime Ball! Otherwise you'll be knocked off if you get hurt while riding, or if the ride falls more than a certain distance!
Leave feedback on what you think, or any other suggestions for how Minecraft could work differently when you're tiny/huge. Or even just tell about something fun that you did with Gulliver; I like hearing about the different ways people use the mod
Also try out the Server if you can, this mod is even more fun when you can

Gulliver in Action[/anchor]
Take the Gulliver Survival Challenge!
Can you survive Minecraft at 1/4 scale? How about 1/8 scale or 2?
Visit the Gulliver Survival Challenge thread for details and tips on how to survive when resized!
Videos and Maps
Let me know if you make a video using this mod! I'd love to see some nifty examples of Gulliver in action. Same with adventure maps, though I can't guarantee that later releases won't break them.
I'd also like to see some maps that are like replicas of a Minecraft house or city at 8x scale, it would be fun to walk through at 8x size and feel "normal", and then at tiny size to feel microscopic (The "giant house" maps I've seen are usually much greater scale than that.)
Here's an example of the kind of video I like to see:
These two roleplay through Minecraft maps in Adventure Time style, and use Gulliver to enhance the experience by having Jake the Dog be able to resize himself at will (Jake's actually in Survival Mode using /doublesize and /halfsize commands, if you were wondering why he takes damage in Creative Mode.)
If you want to contact me regarding this mod before doing a video or map (for tips on features, etc.), or if you'd like to make a suggestion or request, you can PM me (UncleMion) here on the forum, or email me: UncleMion {at} gmail {full-stop} com. Or you can find me on Twitter via @UncleMion.
Anyway, there's getting to be quite a number of video spotlights on Gulliver, so I'm choosy about what I add to this section. I'm considering making some Youtube playlists to link to instead, where I could have playlists for Mod Spotlights, Let's Play/Survival, Machinima, and Bug Gallery (vids that demonstrate a bug I want to fix). But for now:
- It's best if videos are well-edited, have decent audio, and use clean language.
- Creativity counts, as does entertainment value. Amuse me!
- I'd really like some more multiplayer videos, they are fun to watch and help me find server bugs
- Try to show a feature of Gulliver that hasn't been shown in one of the other videos. There's lots of them, take a look at the Changelog if you're stuck for ideas.
- PM me your video link or post the link here in the thread. That doesn't guarantee that I'll add it to this section, however.
I'm "Uncle" Mion, my sister is Shion: Mii and Shii, she and me.
(I've organized the videos by version number to help with confusion about why some features don't get mentioned or else don't work the same as in the current release.)

(In)compatibility[/anchor]
Note: I can't guarantee compatibility of Gulliver with other mods, but I'm certainly shooting for making it more compatible.
Gulliver v0.14.3 only works on Minecraft 1.6.4.
Gulliver Forged v0.14.3 only works on Minecraft 1.6.4 + Forge build 9.11.1.965.
Gulliver v0.14.2 only works on Minecraft 1.6.2.
Gulliver v0.14.1 only works on Minecraft 1.6.2 + ModLoader 1.6.2.
Gulliver Forged v0.14.1 and v0.14.2 only work on Minecraft 1.6.2 + Forge build 9.10.1.871.
Gulliver v0.13.7 and v0.13.8 only work on Minecraft 1.5.2 + ModLoader 1.5.2.
Gulliver Forged v0.13.8 only works on Minecraft 1.5.2 + Forge build 7.8.1.737.
I've changed an awful lot of class files to code this, so the odds are that it will not work with some particular mod. Let me know if you find a mod that works perfectly fine and I'll check it for my compatibility list.
Mods that seem compatible with Gulliver but don't really work:
- More Player Models (resizing issues, player reach positioning, "illegal stance" errors)
- Smart Moving (glitchy special moves, incorrect movement speed, getting stuck underwater)
- other mods that change the player model or height/width
- ...
- Optifine
- Rei's Minimap
- Too Many Items - Potions in TMI menu!
- ...
- Forge/FML (build 965 for MC 1.6.4, build 871 for MC 1.6.2)
- Little Blocks
- Clay Soldiers (in MC 1.5.2 and earlier)
- Biomes O'Plenty
- ...
- Galacticraft
- Metaworlds
- ...
Please note that "compatible" mods mostly work alongside Gulliver, but I haven't coordinated any Gulliver features with the other mods yet, so you won't find mod-specific Creature behavior or other things you probably were expecting.

Troubleshooting[/anchor]
If Minecraft crashes on you after installing Gulliver, Don't Panic!
First, if you're using the new Minecraft launcher, and Minecraft closed and went back to the launcher after crashing, here's how you get the crash log: click on the "Development Console" tab in the launcher, then right-click on that panel, and select "Copy All Text".
If you need help, make a post in this thread with that crash log, preferably between spoiler tags. It will help with identifying the source of the problem and getting you back to playing Gulliverized Minecraft sooner.
If you experience an odd non-crashy bug while playing with Gulliver installed, you're welcome to make a video demonstrating the issue and post a link to it in this thread. I can figure out a lot from watching video of a playthrough. Also a bonus if it's amusing. (Note that some "bugs" may be intentional.)

Downloads[/anchor]
Client/Singleplayer (Non-Forge):
Gulliver Installer - v0.14.3 for Minecraft 1.6.4 (adf.ly) (mediafire) (alternate)
MD5: 9b096d8de2e40c438766727d8722a575
Install by running the installer and selecting the "client" option. When you run the new Minecraft launcher, launch or copy the profile "1.6.4 Gulliver", or else select the "1.6.4-Gulliver" version in the profile editor.
Server:
Gulliver Server v0.14.3 for Minecraft Server 1.6.4 (adf.ly) (mediafire) (alternate)
MD5: 6cd77fb5aa600e66d3e3fe1b09c24f88
Install by putting gulliver_server-0.14.3-MC1.6.4.jar into the same directory as your minecraft_server.1.6.4.jar file (where the server will go). That's it! Start the Gulliver Server by running the gulliver_server jar (usually by double-clicking it.) Do not install ModLoader.
Players will need to have Gulliver 0.14.3 installed on their Minecraft client, otherwise they won't be able to connect (it gives a "Bad Packet 171 error".)
Players with Gulliver Forged v0.14.3 can connect to non-Forged Gulliver servers with version 0.14.3.
Forge version (universal):
Gulliver Forged Installer v0.14.3 for Minecraft 1.6.4 (adf.ly) (mediafire) (alternate)
MD5: c6de33e7670613c8c6bcac4c770ea4ea
Do not put the Gulliver Forged jar into the mods folder, it will not work!!
Gulliver Forged v0.14.3 requires Minecraft Forge build 9.11.1.965. It will not work on different Forge builds. The installer does not include Forge, so you will need to install Forge separately.
To install the client, first install Forge 965 with its installer, then run the Gulliver Forged installer and select the "client" option.
The installer creates a new launcher profile called "1.6.4 Forge965 GulliverForged", which has the proper JVM arguments to prevent Forge from crashing. You can select it from the dropdown list of Profiles, or else click "New Profile" while the "1.6.4 Forge965 GulliverForged" profile is showing on the dropdown list to make a copy of it, and then edit that profile as you like for playing with Gulliver Forged.
If you already made a new profile for Gulliver Forged in some other way, you'll need to "Edit Profile" and make sure that your "JVM Arguments" has the following argument (probably with some other stuff that you can leave there):
-Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=trueOtherwise Forge will get all upset and quit without even launching Minecraft for you.
To install Gulliver Forged 0.14.3 to a server, first install Forge 965 to the server with its installer, then run the Gulliver Forged installer and select the "server" option. Give both installers the path to the directory containing minecraft_server.1.6.4.jar where you intend to have your server installed. To run the server, double-click the Gulliver Forged 0.14.3 universal jar that got installed to your server folder.
Older Versions (for Minecraft 1.2.3-1.6.2):
There have been enough changes to Gulliver and how it interacts with other mods that I'm more or less dropping support for the old versions. I've still got links to them if you really want to download.

Development[/anchor]
There's a lot I still want to implement and fix in Gulliver, and I want to make it play nicer with other mods if possible.
Gulliver could make a good API for other mods to use once I hammer out the design. As it stands, a non-vanilla creature that inherits from EntityLiving and uses the AI classes should also be resizable and exhibit a reasonable default behavior for interactions with other-sized mobs and players.
To-Do List:
- Hooking and flinging other (tiny) players with the Fishing Rod in multiplayer
- Holding a Slime Ball lets tiny players stick to walls and slowly climb up/down (*mostly done in 0.14.3*)
- Move tiny mobs/players with Hoppers, let them go inside Chests (as entities, not inventory items)
- ...
- Smart Moving
- More Player Models
- Bukkit (server)
- ...
- Lily Pad Boat (Lily Pad + Stick?)
- Sticky Boots (Leather Boots + Slime Ball)
- Glider Hat? (Leather Cap + String + Paper?)
- Paper Airplane (4 Paper: 3 in a row, one below centered)
- Smallish Fez (5 Wool in normal helmet shape, 1 String above)
- Snow Shoes
- Resizing rayguns
- ...
- Let tiny players sprint across water without sinking
- Let tiny players/mobs fit through Iron Bars and under Fences - maybe Fences
- Resize non-creature entities (like vehicles) - maybe, but not with Potions or R/F
- Resize blocks - NO, no giant TNT for you
- Generate new structures like tiny villages - maybe in a mod extension
- Allow sizes greater than 8 and smaller than 1/8 - no
- Let players put smaller mobs/players into their inventory - no
- Let giants eat smaller players/mobs - NO
- No really eating smaller players/mobs would be kewl/awesom - NO. Anyone who wants to eat smaller players can bite me
- Aw why won't u let us eat smaller mobs ur mean - Don't make me remove the picking-up-things feature. For the last time, stop asking
- ...
- Glitchy when huge players pick up, hold, and throw Boats or Minecarts
- A player being held by another player may see things as jittery when the holder is walking or moving
- Huge mobs keep getting "high-centered" over Fences or small depressions and end up doing the disco spin
- Small mobs have problems with stairs and half-slabs (vanilla bug?)
Slime Ball doesn't keep a tiny player stuck to the wall unless they keep moving "towards" the wall- fixed in 0.14.3!- Confusion about where a huge player's legs are in first-person view
- Players occasionally respawn partially inside the ground at the spawn point (vanilla bug?)
- ...
- Rendering could look nicer
- Better placement when riding on mobs
- Change fewer base classes!
- Try making Forged into a coremod
- Reorganize this post
- Make a wiki
- ...

Changelog:[/anchor]
These are the changes in the most recent release - you can view the full changelog here.
v0.14.3 (October 21 2014)
- updated to Minecraft 1.6.4
- removed references to ModLoader and SPC
- refactored code: moved some methods out of base classes
- added fil_PH, ro_RO, sk_SK lang files; added mappings to some other lang files; fixed ru_RU.lang file
- bugfix for 1st-person tiny eating/drinking animation
- (Forged) using Forge PlayerInteract and PlayerOpenContainer event handlers to adjust resized player range and access to blocks, including Little Blocks and other custom mod blocks/containers (thanks to SlimeVoid team for example code); removed most changes to Container and TileEntity baseclasses, also some Block baseclasses
- updated to work with Optifine 1.6.4 D1
- (Forged) removed all Shaders-related code, to let Shaders do its own code injection
- adjustments to Bat riding and tamed Bat behavior
- cleaned up resized entity sound volume adjustment, step sounds
- bugfix for tinys making too much slimeball noise
- nerfed riding a seated pet Wolf: much slower, much shorter step-height, won't climb blocks or ladders
- plants cause tinys to move more slowly and prevent gliding, but also reduce fall speed and fall damage some - this includes plants in Flowerpots
- smaller player movement speed slower when collided against blocks
- fixes to tinys climbing climbable blocks or with Slimeball:
- no longer fall straight to the ground when they stop moving into the block
- will slowly fall when alongside a climbable block or sticky (holding Slimeball), also preventing fall damage (like with a ladder)
- fall more slowly when sneaking, won't fall at all if sticky
- smaller players climb regular Ladder blocks more slowly
- now possible to climb over the top edge of a block against a moving water current

His answer is the author of the book. The author of the book is a central banker in a way who originates all of the denominational bills to the community. Without his signature you have no bill. Thus any bill not marked with his name is simply a book with writing in it

Dont be a ***** by saying it isnt real. The only reason he made an account was for this, he has one post and just this account. The connection isnt the problem here either, its the fact that the ISP that manages the military's internet service in Afghanistan blocks many, many sites.

Dont mean to be an ass, but thats kinda funny

Next up, new goals. Who says you have to pursue those new goals? Hell, if you didnt read online about these things you would just continue on your merry way never even noticing these new goals exist...as if they were never added in the first place. So its completely unobtrusive and only there for those looking to expand their adventuring. Also, the whole point of adding an end was so they could set a path for the adventure side. From here they will add new bosses and probably new areas to explore inside of your world to help flesh out the adventure. None of this changes that you can do whatever you want anyways without ever thinking about the new goals. They are adding to the game in ways that dont detract from it, so i cant see how you can possibly complain.
Mob heads and item frames are just more ways to decorate your house, and personally i am excited to impliment them and have plenty of uses for them when they are released. Bats are likely to add to the ambience when underground, since its pretty lifeless in caves right now. Witches are the only one i dont particularly like, mostly because they are out of place in my opinion. but this is a snapshot, a test so they have the freedom to try things out.
These additions will not detract from your gameplay, you are overhyping their effects, and you will see they wont be as damaging as you seem to think
