Uhm, hi there! I've recently been using this mod while working on a roleplay map for one of my friends, but I have a little problem that I... uh... may have spawned a lot of villagers... not realizing that they respawn. This has caused a bit of a problem... uhm, well, my questions is, is there a way to delete the villagers permanently? I mean, I'm probably just being dumb, but, uhm, please, I truly would appreciate if you could tell me how to.

    Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply... now there is no such method..but It's a good suggestion! I'm going to add a way to permanently kill (or dismiss) a villager on 0.4.1. Thank you :D

So can the villager actually breed animals, farm or anything or does it only trade these items?

No, currently they just trade with the players :)

    I'm using 0.3.0 beta.

I'm not too bummed out, as it was only two villagers, but my other two villagers can't take their homes as a result so it would suck to have all these empty houses in case more endermen kidnap my villagers while I'm away!

They're scared and their toilets are full of doo-doo butter (Mr. Crayfish furniture mod ftw) and they need your help to prevent further kidnappings!

aah..looks like I need to do another test for the bug. I understand it's suck to have two "ghost houses"... Let me check my code again and I'm going to solve the problem in next version so no one will kidnap anyone :D. I'm sorry again for the bug. Thank you so much for the feedback!

Looks very good! Gonna try it out first then I'll give my feedback

EDIT: I've tried it and it's good. Very good. But I think the villagers need to harvest the resources themselves so that the player can focus on something else

Instead of doing real things (like harvesting crops or mining blocks) villagers are currently just walking and trading. But we are considering to add more interactive things :) . Thank you for the suggestion!

Something odd happened and I can't seem to fix it.

Two of my villagers had died (a banker and a peasant). No big deal since I know they revive. I run off to go fight mobs at night to get some xp so I'm not in the same chunk as they are. Well, I got a message notifying me that they have revived, but upon my return, I don't see them anywhere. I'm even using a minimap mod that shows entities as yellow dots, but they're not in their houses at all. I even brought a new villager in to see if they could take their house, but it says it's still owned by the missing villager.

Endermen are kidnapping my villagers! Help! D:

Hi ThiefCatEike, which version are you playing? I'm so sorry because there is a bug that sometimes causes the problem you described in earlier versions, I have fixed that bug since 0.3.0 beta. So if you are playing 0.0.1, 0.1.0 or 0.2.0,unfortunately you may lose them forever :( , it is highly recommended to upgrade to the last version! I'm not sure if I can, but I will try to add some lines of code on 0.4.0 beta to help you find them back (or at least allow you to remove their homes).

Hey there. I've uploaded the first episode just now.

I named the series after the mod. I hope that's okay.

    You can see it here...

Good work!! I love it so much (especially 11:50) and I'm fine with the name. I'm so excited because Village Box just has its first youtube series :snowgolem: by Tulaash Thank you!!

By the way.....Could I use it on the thread and the Curce page?

Can't wait to watch the next episode!

Is there a full list of professions? I don't like adding mods that I can't see everything that it does. Also, how compatible is this with other mods? Do the farmers farm modded crops? Will the cook make modded food? Will a guard protect against modded creatures?

Can you configure what drops coins and how often? Can you configure custom trading?

Thank you for the questions! Nope, you can't see the list now, but we are going to add an in-game guide book to help. We haven't tested the mod with other popular mods seriously, we open for reports and suggestions on that. Yep, The farmer sells new crops (but they don't really farm in the game) and the cook makes modded food. And there is no guard for villagers right now.
Currently the config options are very limited, we plan to make it more detailed later.

Is there a way to add custom skins? If not, is there a plan for such a thing?

It sounds a great idea! But currently we have no plan for it. Thank you!

Thanks for the answers. From playing a bit more i think i now grasp the concept: The mod is supposed to fill Your custom build town with life. Its neat and i really like the art style / textures. I'd just like to know what to do with the things i can get from a farmer (rice, cabbage,...) - there does not seem to be any recipes/use for it? Maybe there is a cook villager that i can give the ingredients and he creates consumable food for me? Also, how to obtain that alchemy pot? Do i need a wizard villager?

Thank you! Yep, we do have a cook profession who does the things you mentioned. =D The idea we are heading to is that materials you get from low level villagers should be widely used by high level villagers. You may upgrade a alchemist for the alchemy pot(the alchemy pot is WIP now, and we temporarily remove it in next version, we are designing a better mechanic for it)

Some feedback also say they got confused about the trading recipes, so we are going to create an in-game guide-book later.

    Alchemist upgrading path:

    (villager -> scholar -> mage -> alchemist)

I was wondering, there is no recipe for the Alchemy Pot? Also - The villagers are not really doing anything besides staying in the house you assign them to, right? I was expecting that f.e. farmers head out and tend fields in an area around their houses? Guess this mod is completely different from MCA.

    Thank you for the questions!

    - The Alchemy Pot is WIP now, it will be more interesting later(of course a list of recipes).
    - Yep, villagers are not able to interact with the environment spontaneously(like farming), but they still have common behaviors (wandering near home during the day, staying home when it rains or at night, running away from zombies, etc.). We also consider to add more interactions, but it may not be like farming or mining. Village Box has 30+ professions(will be more and more), most of them can't have a "really thing" to do. =P
    - Good guess! I love MCA, but it's no necessary to make a clone. Also it's not completely different because they have some similar features(following ,setting home, new skins...). The unique parts of Village Box are highly customizing your own village and upgrading villagers to unlock new items, blocks and gameplays.

Hope I answered your questions :)

I suppose that auctioneers would work on servers, but maybe not so much in single player mode. (Toggle with option in config?)
For single players (and/or servers) it would simply mean a reversed process of the selling, but at (lower) prices perhaps.
A Grocer could buy food stuffs ingredients, a pawner for unwanted furniture/carpets, and such.

I also like the quests idea mentioned above.

Is it correct that the wine, whiskey and vodka don't add to the hunger nor have any other effects?
(A nice touch would be if you could add the swirly camera effect from the nether portal if you drink too many in a short time).

Great ideas! I like how you design the auctioneer in SP and MP. The ideas of Grocer and Pawner also sound great!
Yep alcohol doesn't do anything right now, but we plan to add random buffs and visual effects (Your idea is good) when the character drinks it.
