Jun 20, 2009The error shows that you are not able to connect to the server, that message shows when you either can't connect due to the server being unreachable or there being something "in the way". If you've tried multiple servers and none work the problem is definitely down to your connection. A couple of things could be causing this, your browser and firewall being the most likely. Have you got a firewall/antivirus? Try disabling it and see if that works, or adding an exception for Java.Posted in: Legacy Support
Jun 20, 2009There are quite a few common questions and problems that can easily be solved through a quick search of the forums, however not all problems have been reported or occurred before, so you'll need to post a new topic! If this is the case, you're going to need to make sure we can help you in the most efficient way possible, for this we request that you include the following pieces of information in your post:Posted in: Legacy Support
Operating system: Some problems can be caused by your operating system, certain parts of the game may not be compatible or need different configurations/setups.
Browser: Some browsers handle Java differently, they can cause the game to act 'funny' and not how it should do. It can also be helpful if you try the site in another browser, does the same issue occur?
Type of internet connection: If you find yourself constantly suffering from lag or being kicked it could be down to the speed of your connection, your results from http://speedtest.net would be helpful!
How did it happen: It's a broad question, but this can often help you and us to solve your problem. If you performed an action before the problem occurred or something changed with your setup, this will help is work towards diagnosing the exact cause.
Is java up to date? Simple question, are you running the latest version of java? If not, update! This won't necessarily solve the problem but it could, worth a try!
Have you installed any mods? With mods for minecraft being so popular, they are a constant source of technical issues. Before posting your thread, test whether the game will run without any mods, and always list any mods that you have installed when asking for support. Keep in mind that installing multiple mods may cause conflicts, causing the game to stop working correctly. Always use up-to-date mods and always follow the install instructions correctly.
If you are having account or payment problems that can not be solved by other users, please use the following link to contact Mojang for support: http://www.minecraft.net/support
The following thread also contains a lot of useful information for these problems: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/524445-minecraft-account-help-read-before-posting/
With all this information your problem should be resolved in much less time, it saves everyone asking for further information on your setup and saves you posting lots of times.

If you could please, set my email on my minecraft account (same name as forum acc) to the email on my forum account :smile.gif:
on minecraft.net there is currently no way to change any of your details, this will however be changing in the future. For now you should be okay as emails are used for nothing. I'll post back here when you're able to edit your account info :smile.gif:

The version of the server client you're using is out of date, you'll need to download the latest client from here.

Jun 19, 2009A master ban list will never work, people get banned as a joke or a mistake all the time and it's unfair to punish them globally for it, however a ban list that anyone can contribute to will be great for reference, if you have complaints about griefing etc then you can check if they exist on the list, if they do that would confirm the complaint.Posted in: Discussion
Jun 19, 2009After configuring everything and starting the server you should see a window open and it'll contain stuff like "load 0/16", this means the server is online and running. For you to connect to your server you'll need to use the aforementioned method of using the server IP and port to connect, for your friends to connect you'll need to open up externalurl.txt and send them the link from inside.Posted in: Server Administration
Jun 19, 2009Posted in: Legacy SupportQuote from Snowman »Because it isn't Mac compatible ofcourse. >.>
Quote from Zuriki »Server software won't run on OSX.
I don't think he's trying to run the server side client though, just the java applet for players. Have you tried another browser and/or reinstalling Java? If you can't connect it's most likely a problem with your network configuration/firewall, there shouldn't be any problems because you use mac - it runs in the java applet, which works across all operating systems...
Jun 19, 2009To join a server that you're hosting you need to set up the config to have "verify-names" set to false, you should also join through http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=&port= not the external url :smile.gif:Posted in: Server Administration

*searches up TinfoilHate on CurseForge*
0 posts, last activity April 22nd, 2008, born January 1st, 1902 (109 years old, clearly legit)...This is either rigged, or you clearly didn't even check who the winners were before finalizing your picks.
It isn't rigged. Anyone with curse premium was eligible, that user has curse premium and he entered. He is a real person, we would never rig a contest, there is absolutely no reason to.
Quote from Primez
They clearly didn't want anyone to claim first place so they picked the least active member. They just saved about $1000 bucks.
The selection was entirely random, there was no "picking".
Until a staff member who was directly involved in the contest responds, I'm going to go ahead and assume that this was either rigged, whoever picked it (If it's random, you still need to check who the winners are for eligibility) is stupid, or it's a scam like Primez said.
I'm not saying it IS one of those, but until it's proved otherwise, I'll consider it one of those.
It is not rigged. A winner was picked at random from the list of eligible entrants. He is a real person.

Wow, good thing it was announced so obviously, and that they left a large window of time to register. NOT
I check the forum on a daily basis, this contest came completely out of left wing. Can someone please post a link to the original article promoting it?
Actually I'd go as far to say they did an absolutely ****-poor job promoting this. Maybe if they'd actually made an effort, then intel would have gotten better ad exposure, minecraft would have sold more accounts, and the community would have had a chance to get in on this.
What a circus.
It was posted multiple times over the period of around a month, it had articles dedicated to it and it also had articles mentioning that it was on going during the period that it ran. We also ran adverts at the top of the forum for curse premium members reminding them to enter. As dulceice has shown it was mentioned multiple times:
It was not a "surprise" contest and the fact that there are winners here posting shows that enough notice was given :smile.gif:
Quote from dulceice
Nice, won a tshirt XD
WOO :biggrin.gif: I love my curse t-shirt. Soooo comfy.
Tobymon3393: How do you randomly enter a contest that requires you to purchase a premium account for a network of sites? Also, dulceice, where did it say you could mail in an entry? I just looked back at the very first announcement for this, and it said nothing of the sort.
It was listed in the terms and conditions. It is a legal requirement.
Quote from Furball75
did they link to the curse.net advertisement page? did they register it with their state since the prize is probably valued over 500.00 usd? did they put the void where prohibited by law clause in it? i know in rhode island they need to file and pay a filing fee for it to be legal to anyone in Rhode island? hope they did all that or someone could have a field day with this
Yes, all legal requirements for this sweepstakes were met. This is why it was US only, for the sweepstakes to be legal it must be registered in a large number of places, it would not be feasible for us to register with any country but the US.
Quote from darkbrewery
Huh, Oh I see now, it was announced a month ago and silence since then.
A more intelligent approach in today's world would be anywhere BUT the US.
Not hating on the states, good people really, it's sad but in business you need to be a realist.
Curse is an American company and running a Sweepstakes requires a lot of legal work, unfortunately it's not feasible to run one anywhere but in the US.

This may be the day it was officially filed with the Government of Sweden. However, this is NOT Mojang's Birthday. Wurm was built under "Mojang Specification" by Notch and Rolf in 2003. It has since changed. Get your facts straight before making this news. This post is Misinformation; You are a liar. I have old Wurm archive's proving it.
Mojang as a REAL company the company it is today has only existed for one year.
Yes Notch used the name Mojang since early 2000's but that isn't the company it is today.

Don't forget there seems to be a clear lack of mentioning of the fact that LEGALLY in the US you have to be able to submit to this contest without paying a dime.

If I live outside the US am I eligible for those giveaways you can enter by buying premium?
Anyone can redeem a beta key as it isn't a competition, they're available to all curse premium members, however all the giveaways we do (trips, physical items) are limited to America only. If you signed up today you would be able to redeem a beta key for Pandora Saga an (in beta) PVP MMORPG no matter where you are located :-)

Hmm. 30 bucks for a year of no ads, with the possibility of winning some very nice everything? I'm seriously considering this.
This is just one of the competitions we do! Last month we did a similar prize but for Blizzcon instead of Minecon, probably one of the most popular conventions around! Also we have regular beta key give aways, in the past we've done age of empires online and rift among others. It's definitely worth it if you like beta keys, give aways and ad-free :biggrin.gif: Plus (and in my opinion the best part :wink.gif:) is you support us and help curse expand the Minecraft operations!
oh and we love everyone who subscribes :-)
