Completely close the game and try again. If that doesn't work try killing java and then trying. Or try restarting your computer.

posted a message on Mojang Announcement: EULA, and Servers
    Quote from randisking

If you have that much of an issue with affording a big server, then you make payment for entry mandatory if the donations aren't coming in. If the server is that compelling, you won't need to have an item for real money store. Personally I get the feeling that some (but not all) of the people upset are trying to make a living just running a Minecraft server and are upset that their profits are going to get cut into because they are doing something that is at best unfair and at worst a violation of the EULA. I don't buy that items need to be sold for a server to survive, I was once a regular on a server that got by with just donations only and had a server population of well over 100 people. I guess my suggestion for people who just stick to the idea that this is going to kill Minecraft should go code a Minecraft clone and distribute it how they please. Mojang is well within their right to do this and personally I feel that this probably should've been enforced a long while ago.
Minetest, minetest is the game you are looking for. Its an open source (c++ i believe) clone of minecraft. Is it good? Well, ummm. Is it bad. No. currently it's pretty right now, but its open source (LGPL 2.1 ), so, i believe, when done right, you can make money off it, but you have to follow a strict system of linking your payed software to the free software that doesn't break the programe when not used and some other stuff. It's basicly a softer, more money friendly, version of GPLv3. Honesty, i don't really like the game, i like minecraft, but people are acting like minecraft is opensource and it's their right to make money off it. And then they about having to use minecraft, when they don't, use minetest to get money and leave us alone. PS. Follow the LGPL 2.1 licence or you will also be slammed by people.

No, please, feel free to bug. It is my job, after all. :)

Odd question, i know that the reason it takes so long has to do with adding stuff, but how hard would it be to simply recompile the 1.6.2 version for 1.6.4 to hold us over? I mostly ask this because i'm currently at a fork between choosing Tropicraft (1.6.4, no 1.6.2 version) or aether (1.6.2 but no 1.6.4)

    Quote from ItsBenThePikachu

I have windows 7 too so do I have to change my password?

Yes. To put it simply, IT DOES NOT MATTER WHATS ON YOUR END. Thats it, no anti virus, fire wall,OS etc can help you. It was a bug in openSSL, which means that when you log in (or pretty much an work done by a server with you credientials in it) , your infomatation is send over a secure encrpyted connection, so people cann't see your credentials, BUT, there was a flaw that can be exploited so it wasn't so secure. You may notice that it said linux though, well, more then 80% of the servers on the internet run linux. Although, given the nature of linux, things like this get a speedy fix. If you keep up with tech news or have an IOS device you may remeber when apple pushed ios 7.0.4 to ios 7.0.6. Same idea, it was a SSL flaw, although it wasn't the same, bugs in SSL have the basic end result of "its not secure now" . Basicly the SSL bug let someone do a man-in-the-middle attack on you when on the same wifi. Meaning, that a hacker could "pretend" to be a website because the data wasn't secure and get your info. The openSSL bug was like that, but not exactly, basicly, the info that was shared between you and the site and various other things are supposed to only be read by the place it's ment to go, using keys, encryption, and what not. There was a flaw/weakspot in the system so that if a process was done/expoited, the data send wouldn't be protected (the expoit made it plain and/or revealed the methods for keeping it secret, like encrpytion passwords) , so they could see the info in a format they could use.

after going though the process my self of converting my skin, i will note that the template above is inaccurate, the template that you can download above is 256X256, it should be 64X64 (as the old skin template is 64X32), this is easily fixed by scaling it down in GIMP. The top 64X32 of the new skin template is exactley the same as the old, the only differecence is that it only skins the right limbs (as the current sytem skins both limbs with one texture). You could simply past your old skin on the uper half of the template and it would work for currect versions. Though when the update comes, you're left limbs would be colored oddly, as you have to specify the pixels for your left limbs in the new part of the template. This can obviusly fixed by skining your left limbs in the new format, but it won't take effect until the update OR you're using a newer snapshot.

There's absolutely no reason I would keep updating this game if every time I added something I had to read the profoundly entitled posts on these forums. Ya'll are ungrateful. I've paid over 100 dollars for software that wasn't as frequently updated or supported as Minecraft is. Suck it up and play some other game you paid next to nothing for. If you make mods you're about the only people who can complain about a lack of a mod API. Every other complaint is simply unwarranted and inconsiderate. People ing about their onboard graphics card not being able to play twitch, and then complaining about the snapshot not including something they can in turn complain even more about are mind numbingly self absorbed.

Thanks for keeping this game going, Mojang. Please ignore the children, they don't have any sense of the value of currency since their parents purchased your game for them, or they pirated it.

you deserve all my respect, mojang could have stopped updating that game at beta 1.7.3, fixed all the bugs and added a mod api, allot of the community would be happy. (although i don't know exactly how that would play out,but it would be interesting to see) actually that would be a good idea, that would be pretty cool to see, BACK to the point, mine craft was released at 1.0, they could have totally stopped, but no, they kept working, and only the best of the community acknowledge and thank them. I remember when there wasn't even snapshots, just those pre releases (betas?, what ever the 1.8 pre's where called), they where the sh_t (excuse my french) , people where clamoring for them, now people complain that mojang even offers their snapshots, (and they're easy to install too!) Sometimes its not the game, but the community.

and i'm just the guy that wants a ps4 just to install linux on it....... in other new, i think the console sales would go up if mojang/plantform devs released a server file for PC users to host console sever/thingy. surely mojang could act dumb when asked about the ability to exploit that function. ConsoleDevs: Ok, where are going to team with you to make a PS4/Xbox ==>PC server, are you sure this won't be exploited?
Mojang: Yaa, no modifications, anyone that thinks they are going to mod it can kick the bukkit.

posted a message on *Name Changing/UUID Thread*
I think a 3 step naming scheme would be the best, example. 12145234124:CaptainSparkles:(null)

in this case you have the uuid, the original name, and then the current name. so that way everyone would have their current name turned into their "original name" and then there current name, which would ether be the same (for most, like you tubers) or null. so in servers, you could toggle "current name" "original name" and "uuid" so if some one was trying to imposture captain sparkles you could enable original name, and see what that name he had at account creation.

posted a message on Noob Question :D (Do you need a BD drive to play BD disks?)
If I'm correct blue ray is both hardware and software, if you have a disk player high end enough to read blue ray you still need the software, the software may or may not exists, and may or may not be legal, through some linux program.
