Here is the Cartography Table Texture:

And the Map Logger Item Texture:

I am currently working in the Cartography Table GUI, and the Map Logger Texture when you hold it.

Also, I suggest that the Map Logger's display range is rather low, so it can only show up to 4/9 a map (2/3 x 2/3). This is so that it is more balanced, and more GPS like.

Awesome. Thanks I especially like the table texture.

why not just get a minimap mod?

The point is to keep the map concept that Notch decided should be in the game. What I want to do would preserve the feel of Minecraft. I feel that minimap mods make it too easy. Like you don't even need to craft it.

I agree with 7777Seconds. We should not make Minecraft very future-ish, and should keep it more medieval like. What I propose is this:

A Cartography Table is made like this:
    :wood: :Frame: :wood:
    :wood: :Bench: :wood:
    :wood: :wood: :wood:
Where the frame represents a map, and the other stuff represent themselves.
The Cartography Table is used to register and record maps. When placed and right-clicked, it will open a GUI with a small square box, a big square box, and a scroll bar, which acts as a zoom bar.
Placing a map into the small box will "log" it into the Table, and allow it to be viewed in the big box. Logging the map in will not destroy the map, and will leave it untouched. The big box will contain the picture of all maps that you have logged in, and will align them together properly. This will allow you to view a bunch of maps together as a whole. The scroll bar here acts as a zoom bar, allowing you to zoom out to see more stuff at a time, or zoom in to scrutinize the maps (closest you can zoom is normal map size, and you can zoom out to around 10 times (you can view 100 maps (10x10) at furthest zoom).
Destroying the Cartography Table will destroy all of the stored maps, but will not affect the original maps. The map used to craft the Cartography Table is returned back to you (like using milk in the cake recipe), and will be in its original state. The map used will not be auto-logged into the Cartography Table, for both balance and coding issues.

A Map Logger is made like this:
    :Iron: :Frame: :Iron:
    :Iron: :Glass: :Iron:
    :Iron: :RedShroom: :Iron:
Where frame represents map, and red mushroom redstone. Glass represents Glass Pane here.
This Map Logger is sort of a portable Cartography Table, except that you can't "log" the maps directly into the Map Logger, but must transfer them in by placing it into the small box in the Cartography Table. This will cause all new map information from the Map Logger to be pooled into and combined with the previous stored maps (like "logging" in normal maps), and will then transfer all of the collected map info (both old and new) into the Map Logger. The Map Logger will then do the same as the Cartography Table earlier, and combine the 2 data together.
This would allow stored maps to be transferred between 2 Cartography Tables easily with a Map Logger.
However, a Map Logger can only display maps, but cannot record new map data, so you still have to use the conventional way to record new map data.
Like the Cartography table, the map will not be affected during crafting and will not be auto-logged.

Also, you can now craft a map around 8 bonemeal to erase it, allowing it to be recycled and reused.

Also, if you want, I can go and help create block and item textures for this, and I hope I can help you refine this excellent idea :smile.gif:

Thanks a lot for the feedback. That is what I am looking for. And yes, if possible, can you make the textures please.

Thank you for finally adding pictures.

They have been there since the beginning...

Yes Loz: Ocarina of Time was very fun, but the Water Temple was terrifying, anyways, I downloaded it, and tested it out, and it looks good, I was thinking you should have maybe a set of challenges like puzzles, mazes, jump courses etc. and then you get into a large temple area that is way underground and has a massive dome and maybe a chest in the center with loot to please the Ice and Water gods. Anyways, I'm watching this.

Awesome. If you have any thing specific let me know. I'm probably going to start working on my maps again over the holidays. I hope my changes are appreciated.

i need pictures. And stop being a post spammer. Its your own topic, if you have anything to add put it up there.

There are pictures already.... And if that doesn't satisfy you then download the map and play it yourself.

When I saw the words "Water Temple" I started sucking my thumb in the thetal position, thinking "OH GAWD THE MEMORIES", but besides that it looks very nice. Is it gonna be like a puzzle, or adventure, or survival, etc.? Well anyways, good work!

Memories from what? And thanks for the feedback. What should I add next?
