    Put this on a repeating command:


    1) execute as @e[type=minecraft:arrow] at @s run fill ~0.1 ~0.1 ~0.1 ~-0.1 ~-0.1 ~-0.1 air replace minecraft:cracked_stone_bricks


    it does sometimes happen that the arrow then falls down, so i would put a kill command after the repeating command to remove the arrow and prevent more blocks from breaking.


    2) /kill @e[type=arrow]


    NOTE!!!!: put the second command block on a CONDITIONAL chain commandblock because otherwise you wont be able to shoot arrows ;-)


    now, this last thing is also supper unspecific so i would give all these arrows a tag and then remove the arrows with a tag.

    Hi guys,

    I had some difficulty trying to figure this out, and spent a lot of time
    on the internet to try and find the solution to this problem. I only
    found pre-1.13 solutions so I had to figure this out myself. I hope I
    save you guys some time making this guideline towards the detection and
    also giving a player the specific item with /give.

    This is what you have to do to check if someone is holding a specific item with a specific tag in it:


    /execute if entity @a[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"itemID",tag:{tagName:1b}}}] run command


    /give @p itemID{tagName:1b,display:{Name:"\"itemName\"",Lore:["\"loreText\""]}} amount

    (->to give yourself the needed item)


    The diagonal a-like words are your variables.

    /give @p minecraft:fishing_rod{GrapplingHook:1b,display:{Name:"\"Grappling Hook\"",Lore:["\"A real working Grappling Hook in minecraft!\""]}} 1


    /execute if entity @a[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:fishing_rod",tag:{GrapplingHook:1b}}}] run tell @a[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"minecraft:fishing_rod",tag:{GrapplingHook:1b}}}] hello


    So if you want to check if someone is holding a specific item with a specific tag in it you have to do this:


    /give @p itemID{tagName:1b,display:{Name:"\"itemName\"",Lore:["\"loreText\""]}} amount


    /execute if entity @a[nbt={SelectedItem:{id:"itemID",tag:{tagName:1b}}}] run command

    can somebody pls tell me whats wrong with this command? the tag doesn't seem to apply. Otherwise maybe suggest the propper way to detect the tag XD (I've tried checking for the tag with a repeating command that would say hello to you if you are holding the right item)

    I've been working on a multiplayer-compatible grappling hook in minecraft using fishing rods, and I based myself on this video:



    He has put the command lines in the description like this:


    1) (repeat, unconditional, always active):

    execute at @e[type=minecraft:fishing_bobber] run summon area_effect_cloud ~ ~ ~ {Duration:1000000,Tags:["grapple"]}


    2) (chain, unconditional, always active):

    scoreboard players add @e[tag=grapple] grappleTimer 1


    3) (chain, unconditional, always active):

    kill @e[tag=grapple,scores={grappleTimer=50..}]


    4) (chain, unconditional, always active):

    kill @e[type=minecraft:fishing_bobber,nbt={OnGround:1b}]


    5) (chain, unconditional, always active):

    kill @e[type=minecraft:fishing_bobber,nbt={OnGround:1b}]


    6) (chain, unconditional, always active):

    tp @a @e[tag=grapple,scores={grappleTimer=49..},limit=1]


    This works fine, but there's two things I don't like and want to change: I'd like to ONLY have the teleportation activate when the bobber has succesfully hit the ground (like how a real grappling hook works) and i want it to only work with a specific fishing rod (I will create my own recipe for this thing because I'd like to implement it on my own survival server). How do I do this? I've been stuck trying for 5 hours to just make the first criterium work, but it never does and I'm kinda stuck. What should I do to not make it work on a timer and only when the bobber hits the ground?
