Basico 128x
CUSTOMIZER
You can use the customizer to use lower resolution textures, basically to convert it to 64x resolution, or lower.
DESCRIPTION:
I tried to do something extremely clean and simple, like many have already done with the 16x texture packs. A mixture of simple, semi-realistic textures and some imaginative ones as well. It's really something I'm working on for personal use, but felt like sharing. It's mainly for 128x, even though it is simple, as I feel it gives me more flexibility to add details here and there. Any positive criticism is always appreciated, and if you don't like it, don't post. Thanks!
RECOMMENDED MODS:
The More Paintings! MOD. It doubles the amount of paintings you can use, and makes switching between them MUCH easier. Basico's art file is optimized for the Xtreme edition of the mod.
The Water Shader MOD. It basically makes the water in Minecraft look, well, like water. Brilliant work.
GLSL Shader MODs. Yeah, totally new game.

DrChriz posted a message on [PARKOUR] Minecraft's Edge (400.000+ Downloads!)Posted in: MapsMinecraft's edge
The map is based on a game called Mirror's edge, and is all about having fun and jumping around like a boss
story:
You live in a city called ''Minecraft's edge'' and you are a runner. You used to deliver packages from the one person to the other, but the company called ''Skully Jewellery'' stole your package. A diamondwas in the package, and now You need to steal it back and take it to the ''Rainbow Company''
You can recognize the building of the rainbow company by it nice and shiny colors.
Rules:
- Play on peaceful
- Don't destroy or place ANY blocks
- If you die you'll have to start from the beginning so don't jump of high buildings
- Grab some carts from the minecart storage room
- Sometimes fences indicate were you are not suppose to go (unless if you are in the sewer)
- Use the texture pack
- Have fun
- You can also play it with more people
tip: If you need to jump from a high building to a ladder, it helps to look up!

I see that there is an issue with the sidegrass not working properly. I will try to update the links so this isn't happening.

Regarding the sidegrass, that is simply an error that is happening. You can fix it by deleting the terrain38.properties file in the folder called "ctm"

Credit goes to Scuttlesfirst and foremost for the idea of a 256 texture pack and to the artists who contributed to his pack, as some of this pack remains unchanged from his, and I do not know the individual contributors that went into his pack. For the time being, the textures that aren't mine are taken from the LB Photorealism Pack, with permission from Scuttles.
Also, I give thanks to Grugsy, who helped save me from insanity by showing me a way to save time when creating moving textures. Not that it was a fast process after that, but it was comparably zippier.

NOTICE: Due to the inactivity of some of our admins, we may be opening some slots here soon. All updates can be found on our new site (listed above).
Archived News ItemsPlease visit the thread for the idea mentioned in the poll and contribute your thoughts/concerns/ideas to insomniac_lemon. I have sent a message to Dinnerbone and will attempt to communicate with Jeb directly regarding this matter.
I would like to take a moment to address a serious concern I have after looking around the higher-resolution texture-pack community. Many of these packs, including some of the most popular ones (I’m not going to name names) are using textures from sources such as cgtextures.com and google images. While this may seem an easy way to do business, it is illegal. It is also detracting from their personal artistic integrity to use such sources, and an anonymous person contacted the owner of a site “cgtextures.com” and forwarded me the contents of the message.
I am delivering the personal message from the creator of cgtextures.com that states the terms and conditions of using his textures.
Hi,
Redistributing textures by themselves or in texture packs is not allowed (even when the textures are modified), the license is pretty clear about this:
It is NOT permitted to:
- Sell or distribute any of these textures in an unmodified form, or where the derived product you are selling or distributing is a Texture or a collection of Textures. IN OTHER WORDS: Do not sell or distribute any of these textures (modified or not) by itself or in a texture pack ...
Redistribution is only allowed when bundled with a 3D model, and in this case credits to CGTextures have to be given (a small credit text mentioning that images from CGTextures have been used).
If you can keep a lookout and stop people from offering these textures on adf.ly that would be great. It’s not as bad as when people offer my textures in raw form on websites like Megaupload (at least some creativity was involved with the Minecraft texture packs), but it is against the terms of use and too confusing for other people.
Thanks for the compliments on the website, we’ll do our best to keep it updated with good stuff!
Kind regards,
Marcel Vijfwinkel
http://www.cgtextures.com
So, if any of you wish to peek around cgtextures.com and look for anything that may appear familiar to any of the 64x+ resolution texture packs taken from his site, that would be much appreciated. If you spot a texture pack using adfly with these textures, it is of utmost importance to pm the person and include the full text of this message from the creator. This way they have a chance to change the textures. If you notice that the textures haven’t changed within a week or so, I recommend reporting and including the full text of the personal message from the creator of CGTextures.com
Thank you all for the constant vigilance and I hope to see all of the stolen artwork eliminated with your help.
Sincerely,
Drfrozenfire
I am moving some sections of this thread to other threads to streamline the Union’s operation and make the discussions more relevant in order to comply with the new forum format.
Featured Texture Pack of the Week (xx/xx/xx): MOVING TO www.VVarMachine.comSome screenshots of the pack in action on the (OLD)Official Minecraft Unions’ Server:
Texture Pack of the Week Information:
I create a banner for each pack of the week that is chosen. Feel free to copy the image to your thread if your pack is chosen
Here are some screenshots of the featured pack in action on the TAU server! Feel free to submit your own!
How we choose what we feature:
Alright, we’ve all seen some great texture packs, and we are going to feature one of these packs a week, roughly every Monday night.
Stipulation: The featured pack will be chosen only from Union Members’ packs. So if you see one you like and think it should be featured, ask them to come check us out
The admins are going to vote on a new pack to be featured each week. Bear in mind we may choose not to have a featured pack if we don’t have one that meets the criteria [see below] for the week. Feel free to suggest packs [you cannot suggest your own]. We are going to look at a few criteria when selecting the pack of the week:
1. The pack is original work.
2a. The pack hasn’t been featured before.
2b. The pack doesn’t have the popularity we [admins] feel it deserves.
3. The pack was created by Union Members/Admin.
4. A majority of the Admin Council voted for it.
On the topic of creating alts [alternate textures] for the featured pack, at this time we feel there are more cons than pros to the idea, and are not allowing it. However, with that said, see the next spoiler section for more on this.

04/02/12: Dithered Delight 16x by Danori
Danori’s Dithered Delight 16x
(click picture below to go to download thread!)
Dithered Delight by Danori is a 16x dream come true for those who want something more detailed than a simple pack yet brighter and more playful than a realistic pack.
Dithered Delight successfully hits the sweet spot right in this range, giving Minecraft a bright, happy atmosphere while still retaining some bits of wonderful detail. The cactus, for instance, is one of my personal favorites in this regard. Never before have I felt compelled to decorate with cactus! The water is also unexpectedly wonderful—rather than jumping on the Doku bandwagon and attempting to show criss-crossing lines of light, the water in this pack gives the impression of wide, gentle waves, which looks especially cool in oceans and waterfalls. Grass, dirt, longgrass, and flowers all have a fantastic synergy together-- bright and detailed yet still maintaining an impression of smoothness-- that makes grassy plains especially delightful to look at.
Although the GUI and items have yet to be finished, the terrain and mobs are still a nice treat that more than make up for the absence, especially the dramatically shaded ghast. Dithered Delight is definitely a pack everyone should try at least once.

Our Mission:We, the artists who provide the Minecraft community with a service, have entered into a union. This is something that is necessary, and will hopefully help us to protect our artwork and better provide our services to you. There have been numerous instances where we wish that we had collective bargaining rights [for example, the new license policy], and because of everything, we are formally declaring a union to help protect us, which in turn helps us to continue to provide you with the artwork that keeps your Minecraft experience unique and original.
Our mission is to group together to be able to provide unified feedback for changes that are proposed and/or implemented, both to the policies of this website that apply to texture artists, and changes to the game that could severely impact our creative implementation of artwork.
How to join/criterion:I’m reaching out to the community here for support of the union. Anyone who has created artwork for the game that would like to join, please comment below with something meaningful. Feel free to suggest ways to improve the union, and anything you would like to see happen as a result of the union’s ratification of incorporation.
When applying, please comment with a link to your thread.
***If you apply without providing a link, an image, and a request for your emblem, we will refer you to this section of this thread’s OP to read the guidelines for application***
WIP are acceptable but if you have only a few textures done, we may want to wait until you have more completed.
Please post an image of your original work (preferably a daytime screenshot]. An admin will respond as soon as we determine it is original work.
Admin criterion:
-You must be an established texture artist and be voted in by a majority of the current admins
-There must exist an open admin position
General criterion for joining the union:
-You must have contributed AND POSTED a downloadable compilation of works of your artwork. Please note the stipulations above regarding WIP’s. Please include a link to your work in the application comment.
-You must be willing to support the union and join in voting from time to time.
-You must conform to posting guidelines [outlined below].
-The work you do has to be original, that is to say that if you are simply applying a filter or smudging someone else’s texture, it doesn’t count.
-Remix artists, you have no place here, this is to protect original art. Dokucraft continuations and other communal packs that have individual contributors are okay but are under much scrutiny.
-You must read the OP and check for changes as often as you can. ***PLEASE READ THE EMBLEM INFORMATION SECTION***
-When applying, please specify which emblem you would like.
-We refuse to accept “bucket-fill” packs. Period.
-Simple packs (for the most part) do not take much skill to create; therefore, if you create a simple pack as your submission, I warn you in advance that you are under much more scrutiny before being initiated.
Emblem Information:We work together to ensure that our artwork remains our own, and have emblem secured membership that shows that the artist is backed by the Union, in case of discrepancies and/or loss of intellectual property. This emblem is the symbol that represents a license of creative works, which is outlined here.
A few words of clarification:
“The emblem (and it’s different ranks) does not and should not replace your license. And for everyone who doesn’t want a license-- too bad, it’s required on the forums now, so you’ll just have to deal with it. There are a lot of very simple and easy to copy-and-paste licenses out there, so it shouldn’t take you more than a minute to throw one up on your OP.
That said, having a Union emblem at the bottom of your OP will not only identify you as a member, it will also-- with time and exposure-- come to be a quick reference for anyone looking to potentially use your textures. Again, they should also read your license, but if they see a diamond emblem they know right off the bat that the answer to any of their requests is no.
The point of both the emblem and the Union is to try to protect you guys, the texture artists. To that end, we are trying to come up with a unified, stream-lined system that will supplement licenses and help to simplify the legal conundrums that go along with them. It may take some time, but with a bit of luck and a lot of advertising this will become something that everyone uses on a regular basis, and which will help to cut down on the current confusion.” -steelfeathers
There are two main parts to the emblem.
The first: A gold letter Tau means Admin, a silver Tau means Member.
The second: There are 4 levels of licensing ownership represented by your emblem, which is chosen by YOU, which is why you must be given the emblem.
Wood: The lowest level. Having this on your pack indicates that your textures can be used by anyone-- with or without explicit permission-- for any purpose, including remix packs. NOTE: As a precaution, the default expectation of this rule is that the textures cannot be used with adfly links. If you don’t care if someone uses adfly links with your pack, be sure to say so in your written license.
Iron: A moderate level of security. Having this on your pack indicates that your textures can be used by anyone-- with or without explicit permission-- for any purpose, including remix packs, so long as credit is clearly given to the original author both within the zip file (as a readme) and on the original post of the remix. NOTE: As a precaution, the default expectation of this rule is that the textures cannot be used with adfly links. If you don’t care if someone uses adfly links with your pack, be sure to say so in your written license.
Gold: A strict level of security. Having this on your pack indicates that your textures can only be used after written permission is obtained from the creator of the pack. It also indicates that adfly links on remixes are never acceptable, under any circumstances.
Diamond: The highest level of security. Having this on your pack indicates that your textures cannot be used for any remixing or redistribution purposes whatsoever, including re-posting to a different website. It also indicates that adfly links on remixes are never acceptable, under any circumstances.
Fellow artists, please include your emblem [given by admin] on your ORIGINAL POST [mandatory] and your banners/signatures [optional]. This is now the new standardized emblem set! Thanks for your cooperation.
ONCE AGAIN LET ME RE-ITERATE THE FACT THAT YOUR EMBLEM MUST BE GIVEN BY AN ADMIN!!!
Posting Guidelines and Union Code of Conduct:1. Anything posted in this topic not in direct reference to the union or texture-related content will be reported and deleted.
2. When posting pictures of art in development, please don’t post “night” or “storm” pictures without also uploading one in daylight.
3. If you are posting more than one picture in a comment, please put the rest in a spoiler. If you do not know how to do this, please ask someone.
4. Be polite, and know your role. That is to say if you are a member, you should not be telling people whether or not they can join. That is an admin’s decision.
5. Be sure to follow all of the forum rules.
6. DO NOT QUOTE THE ENTIRE OP!!!
7. Feel free to ask for help on textures, ask for feedback, and provide information about changes to the game.
8. When posting videos, please include them in a spoiler with some description as to what they are about.
9. You MUST include your emblem in your threads on this and any other forum (including but not limited to Planet Minecraft).
10. You must be willing to support the union by voting in ALL union-sponsored polls.
11. The emblems are a standard. If including in your signature, it must be the official TAU-sanctioned emblem.
--------------------------------------------------------
1. Anyone blaming the Union for things that happen on someone’s private server, we are not liable. The other thing, any personal servers are just that. Personal. The person running that server can choose what rules he/she wants. But, my fellow union members,if you choose to play on a private server, I expect you to represent the Union in a positive manner. If I hear any namecalling, threats, insults, griefing, or anything of the like coming from a union member, regardless of whether it is a private server, a comment thread, or other place, let it be known that you will be given ONE warning to stop. If you continue, you will be banned from the union. This union is about building community, not the destruction of it.
2. Any of he-said she-said stuff needs to be handled elsewhere. This thread is not the place to act like children, and I am telling you now I am not your mother or father. Be adult about situations. My advice, if someone is treating you wrong: IGNORE THEM and TELL AN ADMIN. Thank you.
3. If you have an issue with someone in the union or something they said/did and the situation heats up, tell an admin. We cannot have contention in this place. We need to represent the union in a positive way.
Official Minecraft Unions’ Server:
TAU User-submitted Compilation Texture Packs:This section has been moved to a new thread.
Alternate Texture Community:We have decided that the best idea for alternate textures is to decide who wants to be a part of the community of people interested in making alternate textures. Being a part of this community is OPTIONAL. If you decide to be a part of the alt community, please comment saying clearly that you would like to be involved in it.
The rules of the alt community:
1. You can create alternate textures only for other members of the alt community.
2. The alternate textures must be presented to the original artist for approval for publishing.
3. The original artist is under NO obligation to use your alternate texture, but if they do, credit must be given in written form.
As people join this community, I will post their names here.
If any argumentation arises as a result of this concept’s introduction, please do not comment but instead PM the admins regarding your issue. If too many people complain, we will just get rid of this section. So play fair and be nice.

Draake posted a message on [1.5.0][SSP/SMP] BetterSound Mod (BSM) [Alpha-v0.0.16]Posted in: Minecraft ModsEdit: Check out the Sound Filters mod by Tmtravlr.
Edit2: Or check out the Sound Physics mod by sonicether.
This mod adds reverberation effects to different environments and an attenuation mechanic to all blocks. All of this allows for sound-proof rooms, reverberating booms from a hovering ghast, and most importantly: eliminating the ever present moan from that zombie eight solid blocks below you!
This mod requires all users to update the lwjgl files installed with Minecraft in order to enable usage of these audio effects (instructions below).
BSM Installation:
I recommend creating a backup of the minecraft 'bin' folder first!- Update to the latest LWJGL release or nothing will work. (Note: once these steps are completed they do not need to be repeated when updating BSM or Minecraft unless you use the "Force Update" option from the launcher).
- Download the latest LWJGL release for your operating system here (or at lwjgl.org).
- Extract/copy the contents of the zip file to the 'bin' folder located in the main minecraft directory.
- Download the latest Better Sound Mod version zip-file here (or directly below) and copy all of the class files to 'Minecraft.jar' with your preferred archive program.
- Delete the 'META-INF' folder located in 'Minecraft.jar' if you haven't already done so.
Download:
LWJGL Java/Binary Update: windows, linux, macosx (or at lwjgl.org)

Though in recent times DLC has been released for the map but you have to pay real world money for them. I do not approve of that as it is content based on both Mineraft and Fallout and should be free. However it is definitely worth playing the original map.Fallout: Rebuilding Humanity - Created by SaveTheGnomes13 - Unspecified wastelandA well made map that features both main a quest and side quest. The amount of work put into this map is apparent and includes videos to help tell some of the story. Basic Instructions:

Download the correct version of the patcher for your OS.Double-click the patcher. You should see this:
If the wrong Minecraft version is shown (1.6.1 instead of 1.6.2 for example), use the right-hand dropdown box to select the proper version. If you would like Better Grass (full grass texture on the sides of grass blocks next to other grass blocks), select the Options tab, scroll down to Connected Textures, and check the box next to Better Grass.Click Patch.Close MCPatcher and start the game normally. Ensure that the patched profile (e.g., MCPatcher, not your username) is selected in the game's launcher. Or click Test Minecraft to run Minecraft without logging in (single-player only).
Installing non-Forge Mods with MCPatcher:NOTE: Some of the screenshots below are out of date. The process remains the same, however.
Use MCPatcher to manage other mods as well. This is not only more convenient, it ensures maximum compatibility between MCPatcher's features and other mods. Note that mods must still be compatible with the version of Minecraft you are running. MCPatcher does not and cannot do anything to make mods work with any version of the game other than the one they were written for.

In the main patcher window, click the Add (+) button.Select the zip file containing the mod you wish to apply. In this example, we'll use ModLoader.
Click Ok.Next a window showing the list of files that will be added will appear. This is mainly informational. Confirm that the right files are listed and click Ok.
The main patcher window should look like this now:
Now we're going to add a second mod, Better Than Wolves. This will illustrate two important things: How to add just a subfolder from a mod and how to resolve mod conflicts.Click the Add (+) button again.Choose the BTW zip.
Since there are multiple subfolders to choose from, the subfolder window appears. If you blindly add everything from the zip, it will not work. Instead, select the MINECRAFT-JAR folder and click Ok.
Next the list of files to be added is shown. Notice this time how files are being copied from the MINECRAFT-JAR folder into the root of minecraft.jar.
Now we have a slight problem. Both ModLoader and BTW contain vl.class. If you try to patch at this point, you will get a warning about the conflict.
You can ignore this warning and patch anyway. Or you can fix it by removing vl.class from ModLoader. Double-click ModLoader and the list of files will appear again. Select vl.class and click the Remove (-) button. Note: Doing this does not change the original ModLoader.zip file, only the list of files that will be copied from it.The file list should now look like this. Click Ok.
The main patcher window should look like this:
Click Patch and run the game!
(New) Installing Forge, FML, and/or LiteLoader with MCPatcher:The process for installing Forge/FML/LiteLoader is different.

Close MCPatcher for these first steps.Download the Forge/FML/LiteLoader installer for the corresponding version of Minecraft.Run the installer as usual. If using LiteLoader and you want to chain to Forge, select the appropriate option in the LiteLoader installer.Start the launcher and run the game once with the Forge/LiteLoader profile just created. This will ensure the necessary libraries are downloaded.Close the game and start MCPatcher. From the Game Version drop-down menu, choose the Forge/LiteLoader version that was just created. For example, 1.6.2-Forge9.10.0.804 or LiteLoader1.6.2.For Forge or FML, an extra entry will appear in the MCPatcher mods tab, but nothing extra will be added for LiteLoader. This is normal.Click Patch.Click Test Minecraft, or close MCPatcher and run the launcher, making sure that the correct profile (e.g., MCPatcher) and version (e.g., 1.6.2-Forge9.10.0.804-mcpatcher) are selected.
NOTE: FML will produce many errors during startup complaining about binary discrepancies. These are due to the fact that FML and MCPatcher modify the same classes and can be safely ignored.
FAQ / TroubleshootingMy virus scanner says the patcher has a virus!
Some scanners detect WS.Reputation.1. It is a false positive that can be ignored. WS.Reputation.1 isn't so much a virus as it is the scanner saying "This file is new, so I don't trust it." See this post by shinji257 for more information.
Extended HD or one of the other mods is greyed out.
If you install mods by hand before running the patcher, you may run into this problem. Start from a clean minecraft.jar instead and this shouldn't happen. Delete the bin folder in .minecraft and redownload it. Try patching again first without any mods. If that works, then add mods one at a time using the patcher as described above.
I want to use a texture pack created for Minecraft 1.5 with Minecraft 1.6.
Use the Convert Texture Pack options in the main menu to convert a texture pack to the new format. This replaces Mojang's TextureEnder.jar and converts MCPatcher-specific features like CTM to the new format. The converted texture pack will be in the resourcepacks folder.
I installed XXX Mod using the patcher and now the game crashes.
Try using the Up/Down arrows in the patcher to apply mods in a different order. In my experience, putting other mods before Extended HD, etc., (which is the default behavior) works better, but you can also try moving them after.
I tried installing XXX Mod both above and below the built-in mods, and it didn't work.
If you tried installing both ways and it didn't work, then you're out of luck. You'll have to choose between MCPatcher and the other mod. Unless the source code for the mod is available, I probably won't be able to fix the incompatibility.
All this patching, repatching, installing, and uninstalling mods has made a mess of things. Now I just want to start fresh.
Open the .minecraft/versions folder and delete the -mcpatcher folder.
The "Open Resource Packs Folder" button in the game doesn't work. / Where do I put my resource packs?
Navigate to the appropriate folder for your OS. The resource folder will be in there.
Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\.minecraftWindows Vista/7 - C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\.minecraftMacOS - From your home directory, go to Library -> Application Support -> minecraftLinux - ~/.minecraft
As a shortcut, in Windows, you can also press Windows key+R, then type %APPDATA%\.minecraft\resourcepacks and hit Enter.
Multiplayer does not work / Achievements are not saved / I get the "Unlicensed copy or logged in from another location" message when using the Test Minecraft button.
That's because the Test Minecraft button does not log in. It is useful for testing that the patcher worked, but if you want multiplayer or achievements, use the normal game launcher.
Does this work with version x.y.z of Minecraft?
Unlike most mods, MCPatcher is designed to be version-independent. It should work across multiple versions of the game, only breaking compatibility when there is a major change. MCPatcher 4.x should work with any 1.6-or-newer release. MCPatcher 3.x is for 1.5, and 2.x is for earlier versions. Before breathlessly posting to ask when MCPatcher will be updated, just try running the version you have. Most of the time it will work as-is and you'll save yourself some unnecessary waiting.
I have a different problem not mentioned here.
Before posting, please Google for "mcpatcher other keywords site:minecraftforum.net" to see if your question has already been answered. If you do post, please include the log in your post as well. The Copy To Clipboard button puts code tags around it so all you have to do is paste it into your post.

Connected Textures (sample ctm .properties)
MCPatcher offers a greatly enhanced version of the Connected Textures Mod. In addition to connecting blocks to their neighbors in various ways, MCPatcher supports random, repeat, and fixed methods. Any of these methods can be applied conditionally by block ID, tile name, metadata, face, biome, or height.
CTM properties files and supporting textures are in the ~/ctm folder. Each properties file represents one block or tile override and contains a method, some supporting textures, and optional conditions like metadata or face. Multiple properties files can affect the same block or tile, but only the first matching one (in alphabetical order by filename) will be used. Files in ~/ctm can be organized into subfolders any depth. The subfolders are simply to make organization easier; MCPatcher doesn't care about their names.
A simple connected glass block requires a properties file and 47 separate textures:
~/ctm/myglass/block20.properties:<br> method=ctm<br> tiles=0-46<br>
The tiles must be separate png files in the /ctm/myglass directory following this pattern:
The image above shows the pattern of the 47 tiles. In your texture pack you must provide 47 separate image files, not just a single tilesheet.
Horizontally-connected CTM follows this pattern. Again, use 4 separate images, not a tilesheet.
Vertically-connected CTM follows this pattern:
Horizontal+vertical and Vertical+horizontal (method=h+v and v+h respectively) combine the two, favoring one over the other. Each requires 7 tiles. Template, courtesy of Misa, here.
See the sample ctm.properties file for more information.
A CTM rule can act on the output of another CTM rule. Just use the full path of the first CTM tile in the second's matchTiles property. Here's how to create randomized horizontally-connected bookshelves:
# Main top-level bookshelf CTM<br>~/ctm/bookshelf/block47.properties:<br> method=horizontal<br> tiles=0-3<br># One additional CTM matching each output tile of the previous CTM<br># Tiles 4.png and 5.png will be used in place of 0.png, etc.<br>~/ctm/bookshelf/book0.properties:<br> matchTiles=~/ctm/bookshelf/0.png<br> method=random<br> tiles=4 5<br>~/ctm/bookshelf/book1.properties:<br> matchTiles=~/ctm/bookshelf/1.png<br> method=random<br> tiles=6 7<br>~/ctm/bookshelf/book2.properties:<br> matchTiles=~/ctm/bookshelf/2.png<br> method=random<br> tiles=8 9<br>~/ctm/bookshelf/book3.properties:<br> matchTiles=~/ctm/bookshelf/3.png<br> method=random<br> tiles=10 11<br>
Better Glass (sample renderpass.properties, sample texture pack)
The Better Glass mod extends Connected Textures to add full alpha channel support to glass blocks and panes.
Colored glass is made with two textures, one for the frame and another for the glass part. Due to a limitation of the game's renderer, the glass part will disappear when it is behind another translucent texture like water or ice. However the frame will remain visible, which is a decent compromise.
~/ctm/myglass/block20.properties:<br> method=ctm<br> tiles=0-46<br> renderPass=2<br><br>~/ctm/myglass/block20a.properties:<br> method=ctm<br> tiles=47-93<br> renderPass=3<br><br>~/ctm/myglass/block102.properties:<br> method=ctm<br> tiles=0-46<br><br>~/ctm/myglass/block102a.properties:<br> method=ctm<br> tiles=47-93<br> renderPass=3<br>
The renderPass property specifies when the block should be rendered. Each render pass has different properties:
0: Normal, solid blocks. Virtually all blocks use this rendering pass. Only on/off transparency is supported.1: Existing translucent blocks (water, ice, etc.).
Better Glass adds two new rendering passes:
2: Same as pass #0 but with backface culling disabled. Again, only on/off transparency is supported. If you find it unsettling to see only the front faces of a supposedly transparent glass block, use this render pass to make all six visible.3: Extra pass with full alpha support. Will be hidden when rendered behind water, etc., from pass #1. The blending method can be changed in renderpass.properties.
The rendering passes happen in this order: 0, 2, 1, 3. Note that the glass block uses render pass 2 for its frame but the glass pane does not. If you use 2 with the glass pane you will see z-fighting because the game puts the two sides of the pane at the same coordinates.
As you may have guessed, Better Glass can be used with any block that supports CTM by adding the appropriate entries to their properties files. One limitation is that the properties must be based on block ID rather than tile name. Also keep in mind that the render pass is applied to all blocks with the same block ID. Render pass 2 replaces render pass 0, so if you assign, for example, stone slabs to render pass 2, then you must have CTM rules covering all slabs (block ID 44) for render pass 2. Otherwise the other slabs will be invisible.
Better Skies (sample sky.properties, skybox template)
Tired of the default starfield? MCPatcher supports fully customizable skyboxes! Multiple skyboxes can be layered together using several blending methods and set to fade in and out at certain times of the day.
Each "layer" of custom sky must have a .properties file located at ~/sky/world0/sky.properties. In it you specify a texture (default: ~/sky/world0/sky.png), the time of day the texture should fade in and out, and a blending method (default: add). Various blending methods are available: add, subtract, multiply, dodge, burn, screen, and replace. See the sample sky.properties file for more options.
The skybox texture is mapped onto a rotating cube around the game world. The texture can be any size but must have 2 rows of 3 tiles. The template shows how the six tiles on the texture map to faces of the skybox. This orientation is taken at noon in game time, so the sun is drawn in the center of the top face and the moon in the center of the bottom face. This means that a custom starfield should have whatever you want to be directly overhead on the bottom face.
Better Skies works only in the overworld. The Nether and The End are not supported.
Custom Item Textures (sample cit.properties, sample cit_single.properties)
What CTM does for terrain, CIT does for items. Customize item appearance by damage value, stack size, and NBT data. Create different effects for different enchantments.
All files related to CIT are in the ~/cit folder. Like CTM, files can be further organized into subfolders. An optional cit.properties file specifies global behavior of CIT, particularly with how multiple custom enchantment effects are handled.
The bulk of CIT behavior is defined in multiple properties files within the ~/cit folder. Each properties file lists a type (item, enchantment, armor); some criteria for when the replacement should happen based on item ID, damage, etc.; and one or more replacement textures. If multiple files match the same item, the one with the highest weight property takes priority.
type=<item | enchantment | armor><br>items=<item IDs><br>damage=<damage values><br>stackSize=<stack sizes><br>enchantmentIDs=<list of enchantment IDs><br>enchantmentLevels=<list of enchantment levels><br>nbt.<expression>=<NBT value><br>weight=<priority relative to other CIT files><br>texture=<replacement texture><br>
(Most of these properties are optional.)
CIT type=item defines a simple texture replacement. The game uses a custom texture instead instead of the default one in textures/items. Replacement textures can be animated using Mojang's .mcmeta format. For items with more than one texture (bows, potions, spawner eggs), specify all the replacement textures in a single properties file:
# Wrong - will show the same texture when the bow is pulled back<br>texture=my_special_bow_standby<br># Correct - separate textures for each bow state<br>texture.bow_standby=my_special_bow_standby<br>texture.bow_pulling_0=my_special_bow_pulling_0<br>texture.bow_pulling_1=my_special_bow_pulling_1<br>texture.bow_pulling_2=my_special_bow_pulling_2<br>
CIT type=enchantment replaces the default glint effect. Different enchantments can be given different textures based on enchantment type or level or both. If an item has multiple enchantments, the effects can be blended together or cycled. If no custom enchantment is found for an enchanted item, the default enchanted_item_glint.png is used. This can be disabled by setting useGlint=false in the global cit.properties file.
CIT type=armor replaces the armor texture shown in third-person view and on other players. Each armor type has two textures except for leather which has four. Use the same syntax as with the bow example to replace multiple textures:
# Diamond<br>texture.diamond_layer_1=...<br>texture.diamond_layer_2=...<br># Leather<br>texture.leather_layer_1=...<br>texture.leather_layer_1_overlay=...<br>texture.leather_layer_2=...<br>texture.leather_layer_2_overlay=...<br>
There is an alternate method for replacement textures for potions. Rather than dealing with the complexities of damage values for potion types, there is a simpler filename-based method you can use instead. No properties files are needed to use this method, only a png file with the proper path. See the section at the bottom of the template cit_single.properties file for details.

Mod Compilation Policy
Due to the alarming number of new modpacks wanting to include RedPower lately,
and my inability to possibly evaluate and answer everyone asking, I've decided
to cut way back on allowing it.
Here's the deal:
- Established modpacks or private server packs only. If your post
count is below 100, and your modpack is less than a month old, I'll just say
no. A "private server pack" refers to a modpack intended to be used by a
closed membership Minecraft server and distributed only to those members.
- You must have my permission. Post on this thread.
- Proper credit and attribution. "RedPower by Eloraam", with a link to this thread, is a suitable example.
- Non-commercial, non-profit mod packs only. If you're going to bundle my mod, you can't use adf.ly or similar for the compilation pack. I'm OK with giving my work away, but not having someone else profit from it.

In the first week of January I will begin to make changes to the mod page on my blog, so if you're still using the old version (pre-rewrite) I suggest you go read them up before the information gets updated.
Recommended you use Forge 482 or later, due to an important fix in FML.
==================================================
Top Issues- Crashing with: cpw.mods.fml.common.LoaderException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: portalgun.common.PortalGun Please check the new installation instructions below, you no longer have to extract the mod. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EXTRACT THE ZIP FILE.
- See through portals doesn't work right.
- If you are having issues, be sure to read the FAQ before asking something that's been addressed a thousand times.
- We now have a wiki! Feel free to contribute to it here!
- Just to clear things up, I DID NOT use the same method as the CCTV mod to make portals see through. Its a completely different way.
The old portal gun trailer back in Beta 1.3_01. Good times.

==================================================
Uses Minecraft Forge 6.0.1.339 or later.
Uses block IDs 204, 205 and 206, item IDs 13200+, net IDs 150+ by default. Can be changed in properties file.
Specific parts of the mod can be disabled to free up block/item IDs if required.
The properties file can be found in the /config/ folder.
Thanks to Valve for the original game concept and sounds.
==================================================
Server Information:
- Properties files - Dedicated server properties files come in two places. One in the world save folder, one in the /config/ folder.
- Commands - The mod adds several commands which can be listed down by typing "pg" in the server console of "/pg" as an Op.
- The difference is the one in the /config/ folder are for block/item/net IDs etc while the one in the world save folder is for directly changing (mostly) gameplay mechanics.
- These include changing mod properties in-game, as well as clearing out portals.
Content:
Mod Part 0:
Default Portal Gun
Atlas' Portal Gun
P-Body's Portal Gun
Bacon Gun
- Fire Portals with the left and right mouse buttons.
- Zoom in and out with the middle mouse button.
- Grab blocks or entities with the "G" button.
- Reset portals with the "R" button.
- For the bacon gun, the portal's colour is randomly generated. However, it can be defined in the properties file.
- This is your special set of portals on SMP. Unique per individual.
- When placed, a GUI will pop up asking you to set the colour, and if the portal stays open if redstone power is cut.
- When powered with redstone, it will spawn a portal based on the colour you set.
- Accepts any type of portal gun.
- Automatically fire portals when it receives redstone current.
- Portal Gun can be retrieved by right clicking or walking into them
- Fires only one type of portal.
- Will automatically merge with the single coloured portal gun of the other colour to form a dual portal gun.
- Can also be crafted together.
- Negates all your falling damage when worn!
NEW 1.3.2v1
- You can now enable a fuel option in 1.3.2v1 onwards in the config file.
- The fuel that the portal gun uses is in form of Ender Pearl Dust.
- One ender pearl dust is used every time you fire a portal.
- If you run out of ender pearl dust the portal gun will dim and refuse to fire.
Mod Part 1:
Weighted Storage Cube
Placing it in the world and right clicking it with a rose will transform it into a companion cube!
Whilst in your inventory, the companion cube will help heal you every 5 seconds!
Incinerating the cube (How could you!?) will cause it to leave behind a recorded message.
Smelting the disc will cause the plastic to deteriorate, changing the entire track!
Crafting two of the first discs together will also change the track.
Radio
- Plays the radio loop record repeatedly.
- Can be turned off with right click (configurable)
Weighted Companion Cube Vent
- Placed on ceilings.
- Requires redstone power.
- Cubes deployed cannot be broken.
- Redeploys new cube if redstone is still supplied and cube gets destroyed.
Right clicking the cube with cyan dye will make it bouncy! Get rid of the bounciness by putting it in water.
(Initially a request by TheFrogMC for the portal 2 gels mod, but I found it too fun to make it exclusive to that mod)
Mod Part 2:
Material Emancipation Grid
- These are placed from wall to wall, and has a maximum range of 15 blocks.
- Pouring fluid through it will disable it.
- These grids have several modes, which are configurable in the properties file.
- These grids are also configurable to have to be redstone powered.
Mod Part 3:
Sentry Turrets
(Model made in Techne)- Shoots anything, configurable in properties file.
- Has range of 20 blocks, also configurable.
- Fires 20 bullets a second.
- Will die if pushed over.
When sentry turrets get smelted, their sleek body polish melts off and their circuits gets messed up!
Mod Part 4:
Aerial Faith Plates
- Can be placed on floors, walls and ceilings.
- Wall plates can be oriented to look upwards or downwards.
- Right click to adjust the power.
- Can be set to be redstone powered to work.
- Intelligently indicates if it is indirectly being powered by redstone
- Warning: Will not increase intelligence if ingested.
Mod Part 5:
High Energy Pellet Launcher
- Launches a High Energy Pellet when powered by redstone.
- High Energy Pellets disintegrates living things on contact (Configurable to knockback)
- High Energy Pellets spontaneously combusts if it bounces too many times, travels too far or lives for too long.
- Catches a High Energy Pellet to provide redstone power.
- Can be sneak right-clicked to release caught High Energy Pellet.
Mod Part 6:
Discouragement Beam Emitter
- Forms a high powered laser when powered with redstone!
- Lasers travel 40 blocks maximum from the last object portal/cube it goes through, to a maximum of 20 objects (This is so to prevent any overloading of the game)
- Can be configured to cause damage to living creatures.
- Due to my limitation in Mathematics, lasers will only go directly vertical, even when going through a wall portal at an angle into a ceiling/floor portal. (Sorry!)
- Receives laser as its input to produce redstone power.
- Detects the presence of a laser going through it to produce redstone power.
- Refracts a Thermal Discouragement Beam to the direction it faces.
- Grabbed with the G (default) button.
- Becomes bouncy if right clicked with cyan dye!
- Check Weighted Cube Vents for info.
- Will temporarily save player status, portals, and portal entities at the moment when the player walks pass it, set in the GUI.
- Restores the above when the player dies and respawns (Note, this will move you away from your bed [if present] after you respawn).
- Also can power redstone 2 blocks below it like pressure plates.

Installation:
Client:
1. Go to your minecraft folder. (If you don't know how to, look it up)
2. Place the zip file in the /mods/ folder and run the game.
3. If you want to change a setting (eg: a block id), go to /config/ and open "PortalGun.properties" with your favourite text editor.
Server:
1. Drop the zip in the /mods/ folder of the server root folder.
Note:
- The mod requires Forge 6.3.0.360 or later.
- The mod DOES NOT auto resolve ID issues like some other mods.
- Do check the default properties file, enough comments have been added for your understanding.
- The server only works on VANILLA server at the moment.

Known issues:
- If your screen turns black or freezes when there's a portal around, disable see through portals
as that is causing the issue.
- See through portals are NOT PERFECT. This means there may be conflicts with other GUIs and such.
If the issues caused by it are unbearable, turn it off or set to static image.
- Advanced OpenGL being enabled causes flickering issues with see through portals.
- The sky will flicker while you're in your inventory and looking at a see through portal.

Modders:
If you feel your blockID should not be picked up by the gun, feel free to add it to the mod's block grabbing blacklist. Simply execute this function once. Can be metadata specific.
portalgun.common.PortalGun.addBlockIDToGrabList(int blockID); or portalgun.common.PortalGun.addBlockIDToGrabList(int blockID, int[] metadata);
If you feel that your entity should not be targeted by turrets, execute this function once on load.
portalgun.common.PortalGun.addEntityToTurretException(Class entityClass);

Last I checked the First rule of Texturing, is you don't talk about texturing.
1
I feel like the one on the right 4th from the bottom has too much saturation sucked out of it. I think you should bump up the saturation a tad so it doesn't have that gray spot in the middle, and make it more like an in-between with the orange and the yellow above and below it.
1
Secondly, when a person makes a texture pack, it 100% belongs to them, regardless of who it is made for. You can't just walk into a candy shop and say "Make me some candy, I'll share it with other people and give you some of the profit." That only works as to distribute things such as games and appliances to stores to be a middleman. However that doesn't really apply here seeing as we are all online and have the same ability to connect to each other just as much as the next guy. But good luck with that...
1
I would apply, except my forte at the moment is far from dark, fantasy, and realistic textures so I don't think I would be very useful, but I do make HD textures, so that's a +. Also like lordofsax, I am creating my own texture pack so that would have to take priority, and also I don't think the rest of my server staff would appreciate me creating textures for a custom mod for another server.
1
I was talking less about the personal bias on the textures, and more on the personal bias of the factors that went into the creation of the textures (methods, creator, etc.)
Well although you may argue that your first answer is usually your best one, there are always back-ups, undos, and if you reach the point where you don't like it at all, you can simply start all over again. All things you can't do when you are on a time schedule.
I believe that inspiration, creativity, and impressions cannot simply be willed into existence. Art is like books, sometimes the author gets writers block, sometimes they can write several chapters at a time, these are all reasons why authors do not work on a specific time schedule. Same with artists, you can have inspiration one day and the next have none. This is really one of the main reasons I dislike organizing artists all on the same time frame, because it will not be an adequate representation of their full or possibly even half potential. My English teacher said recently that although success is derived from failure, you got to start succeeding eventually.
2
Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait.
You choose to disregard my arguments because you do not believe in what they prove? You are not willing to change your beliefs if given evidence that proves you wrong?
You choose to defy the basic laws of discussion.
This discussion is over.
3
Obviously you used filters, sliders, color alterations, and that fancy do-dad you have on that special image editing software, which are things I tend to stay away from due to it more of doing the work for you.
I don't perform under time constraints unless that time constraint is someone else's running time, I still have about 60 years until I hit the average life expectancy limit, so there's no reason to rush making a texture pack in 2 weeks. Personally I would prefer that instead of creating a contest that could potentially create 100 very similar and very rushed texture packs each with their own thread on the forums, you say make a contest to create a holiday-themed texture pack in time for next holiday season. Not everyone can be like lilyo and take someones texture that they spent an hour on and recreate it in ten minutes yet much better, however say if that person spent 24 hours on that one texture I am sure they could make it better than what lilyo could make. I feel that although the contests should focus on a variety of different challenges that test the skills of the competitors, I think that we should be focusing on removing constraints instead of adding them, because after all quality is better than quantity. Say have a contest for a banner for a texture pack, or possibly mod support for a mod, create the best video guide to creating a texture, something that makes creating textures more about creativity and not make texturing into something that feels like a 9-5 job where you have to make a certain theme in a limited time.
Like the sticky to this topic says, creating a texture pack is not a one day project, so creating time limiting contests only reinforces the opposite of this statement.
Although I doubt this rant will change this competition from happening, being said that the more packs there are for this contest, the more messy the texture pack's forums will be, I think there should be one thread where the creator copy-pastes everything the creator would put in their thread, and simply lists the texture packs. This will also centralize conversation about the texture packs.
1
That should send the right message the next time they visit your thread. Sure they may not do it immediately, but they will see it eventually.
