Going to have to repost because I had NOPE on feedback. Sorry for the realy active replies. I had a can of monster energy and am sat down. I'm actualy ment to be in bed, but I can't sleep.
So I just made a new cobblestone texture, and honestly I don't like it. I have been looking at others cobblestone textures and I think I could make something like that, however It wouldn't fit my "smooth yet detailed" Style I am looking for. Anyway here it is
Cobblestone is arguably the most important texture in Minecraft. It was first created along with the grass texture in the of Minecraft and since then has relatively remained the same (except of course the semi-recent update of 1.7 which changed it). Along with its long history, it is used in a ton of other textures that Minecraft players use everyday such as pistons, furnaces, end stone, and the dispenser.
I am in the process of creating a texture pack, and I have found that cobblestone is one of the few textures that I can't seem to decide upon, so I have decided to make this thread dedicated specifically to the cobblestone texture. Here I am hoping to create polls, collect opinions, have some people show off different styles of cobblestone and share techniques on how they created those textures.
Unfortunately I have a nasty cold right now that is producing some pretty violent sneezes, so I have to get some sleep, but I am hoping in the mean time some people could post their cobble stone textures and styles and such and tomorrow I will take those textures and some other styles I find and create a categorization of sorts of the styles. I really hope to make this topic a good place for me and other texture artists to learn how to create a successful cobblestone texture, and for the texture pack users help decide which style they like the best. Until then farewell.
I really hope people actually read this instead of just skipping over it like people usually do to stickies. Ironic that you warn against ignoring threads such as these, yet those who don't follow those instructions won't see them...
Anyway I have some suggestions for more Myths. First of all I think you have to look through the eyes of a brand new texture pack user and a brand new texture pack creator.
Myth: All you have to do is put the texture pack in the texture packs folder
Fact: If the pack is HD, you have to use HDpatcher or OptiFine, and for your game to run smoothly using 128x128 and up texturepacks, you have to have a good graphics card and a generally powerful computer.
I never quite understand why this thread randomly goes dead at times.
Anyway I'm sorry I haven't been posting, yadda yadda, you get the picture. And by "the picture" I mean this picture, its my new grass and dirt textures. Comments, questions, concerns?
Donate them to the union texture pack then :tongue.gif:
HmmmmMMmmmMMMmmmmMMMMMMmm, they would have to be adapted to the texturepacks default stone texture, but that'll be a peice of cake. And I just went for a fly and I was actually considering that it really isn't too out of place...
I'll give them to the union texture pack once I make better (ore (see what I did there) at least acceptable) ores for my texture pack, just so I don't forfeit my rights to the textures without having something to replace them.
Well I made some awesome looking ores. Im not sure if I am going to actually include them in my texture pack as my main ores because the more I look at them the more I realize they won't fit.
And I also just felt like making a .gif, and so I did
On an unrelated note: the capatcha for uploading the first one was "become onclemo", and for those who speak french would know that oncle is uncle in french... and "mo" just sounds like an uncle's name right?

? I'm guessing that's something to do with 1.9.6, do you have a link to those updates?

What exactly would a "texture packer" do?

Thats awesome, but I suggest you add a bit more of the zombie part to the zombie pig man.

Noice! And I'm probably going to use it once they fix the things I can't seem to do, like enter contact info. It actually might be my browser...

Its better, for some reason while exporting it, GIMP renamed all of the frames while assigning them 100ms durations.
