Fairly certain Optifine changes some of the same code BTW does; so sadly the mods won't work at the basic technical level.

The good news is that Flowerchild worked hard on performance- so BTW runs very smoothly on its own. Also if you dig around the BTW forum, you'll find some texturepacks that'll support connected textures as well as technical advice on how to get everything working. http://www.sargunster.com/btwforum/viewforum.php?f=12

Well... I should get back into this, but unfortunately Windows 10 doesn't appear to be able to run Minecraft 1.5.2?

Are you playing the Windows 10 edition, or the (original) Minecraft Java edition?

From what I understand Win10 edition is a version of Minecraft rewritten from scratch in C++, so it might not be able to run older versions of MC that existed before the C++ development started. (total guess here, but it seems logical).

(The mod seems to run fine on Windows 10, although I haven't updated it to the latest BTW release)

FC answered this a few times before, from what I remember it is mostly due to tech support issues/bug stomping- basically if everyones running the same latest iteration, it makes life significantly easier for the dev.

If you really must find the answer from the dev himself- its archived in this thread :)

Just curious - for co-op multiplayer sake, is there any chance for an update to allow toggable hardcore modes, specifically spawning. Often times when playing we end up feeling in a single player world that we just lose interest unless we cheat in a soul forged steel beacon so we can have a defined spawn. It just sucks losing the co-op feeling on multiplayer, perhaps this is just my experience but that's what I have found, otherwise my pals and I love the mod.

The last server I played; hardcore death was something which really brought the community together. By the end of it we had a fairly substantial system of nether tunnels and overworld roads, landmarks, maps ect so whenever someone bit the big one, someone else could locate them via what landmarks our walking corpse mentioned in chat. Often followed by a rescue party bringing supplies, or directions to the nearest supply hole/portal home.
Its all about teamwork my friend.

    Try installing with Multi-MC (tutorial)

    or MCPatcher (tutorial)

Does anyone know if cake serves a purpose in BTW? The guide says it's "food" but I'm pretty sure it's just as pointless as in Vanilla. Would be nice if it counted as a luxury food and high fat or something.

Its a dessert food- so you can eat it even when you're full. (packs on a LOT of pounds too).

If you need to post long console logs- try using pastebin, and dropping a link back here.

You don't need any other mods/api things- just MC and the MINECRAFT-JAR in the download folder.

Installation is a bit of a pain- theres a full guide here. http://www.sargunster.com/btwforum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8506

Also using software like notepad++ can make editing the .json files easier as it retains the formatting rather than dumping it as a block of text.

If your issue specifically is the modded .jar reverting to vanilla- make sure you've followed the 'Do not run minecraft- you're not done yet' section' (something which may not be mentioned in a lot of other installation guides)

If you wan't to do it without MC patcher- http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Mods/Installing_mods#Installation_for_the_1.6_launcher

Note- you'll need to visit the ''Do not run minecraft- you're not done yet'' section on the BTW forum.

EDIT: Okay, I see that GeoStrata ores are only half-implemented and this config should be left disabled.

Geostrata: In NEI I see variants of the GeoStrata rocks with ores in them. In GeoStrata.cfg I tried setting

    I:"Ore Mode"=1

but the ores don't render correctly. Coal Ore Basalt looks correct on the sides but not the top, and there are five blocks of Coal Ore Granite mixed in (at Y level 93!) which look like Basalt with both black and dark pink ores mixed in.

Is the Ore Mode config option in GeoStrata supposed to work?

The individual ore blocks seem to work ok- (With Reika's permission if your modpacking) you could use CoFH worldgen or similar to directly add the Geostrata ores to the world.

I've noticed zombies can pick up and put on armour (specifically mob heads)- you could capture a few and experiment with a spare set of armour. Having a 'living statue' in the library might be quite cool come to think of it.

Graphically/gameplay/theme ect are all ok. Some of the monsters might be scary if they jump out at you- but you can switch to peaceful (no monsters) if needed. Certainly no blood/guts/excessive violence ect.

The only thing you'll need to be careful is multiplayer- unless you personally know the host make sure carefully vet any server before you let your kid join and you'll be ok. (or host/teach your kid to host your own and your little ones can share the same world and team up)

Personally I can't wait until my little bros are old enough (4 and 2 respectively), I'll be getting them a copy each a few years down the line.

I did that stuff, which is what I meant by editing the file. Unless there's a different answer your referring to in the other 2015 pages of this thread.

Editing the .JSON can be finicky at best. Try giving it a few attempts from scratch as any subtle mistakes are nearly impossible to find (it also takes me several attempts).
Using software like Notepad++ can help as it retains the .JSON formatting making it a lot easier to read.

A few people have had this issue- something to do with a recent launcher update causing modded .jars to revert. Try following this install tutorial for the fix.

Hey Vioki its actually your latest vids that inspired me to start again, but I cant get down that deep, I hit dark strata and no more mining - I presume I need diamond pick for the dark stuff? this is my issue - Do i just need to find a cave system that goes down that deep? if so that could be my issue

There is also an interesting surface feature to look for.
Granted not every deep cave will have one of these, and I'm fairly certain not every one of these features will ring true.
However every time I've explored one of these I've always made it into the deepest strata.

If you see a number of cave entrances in close proximity, you're above a large and complex cave system that'll hit the diamond layer.
