    Quote from nickimmy

I never said I didn't like the updates, I just said I think they should wait until 1.3. I appreciate that a lot of content is being added, I remember the days of beta 1.1-1.6 where very little was added each update.

You do know you can wait right? If you just don't update... Till enough updates pass that have enough things to make you want to update.. It isn't like we are forced to update. So rather then complain why not just.. Do yourself a favor and do what you want done? Others like me, like updates all the time. Even if they are just bug fixes I rather like a weekly update. I do feel they are nessecary but it is a prefrence I think..

Just because you want to wait doesn't mean everyone should now have to wait months to get an update.. I think they already solved the issue by letting us not update..

posted a message on What are your thoughts about 1.2.5 so soon?
Snapshots are for testing for bugs to try to avoid major ones in the official update I thought..Offical updates are the ones the client asks if you want to update to. You do not need to participate in snapshots at all. Actualy you have to go out of your way to participate.

So for some poeple they do let "content" pile a bit beforegetting the next Offical update - so people who want ot play week to week and bug test a bit can.. and people who want to wait and only update offical updates - also can. But no matter how they decide to update people will complain because... There never seems to be an end to people complaining about everything thats done and added.

I personaly wish and hope we get a new snap shot every week, Weather they are only bugfixs or also content. I like to see contuinous progress.

Or they could do the opposite and make it so big mushrooms can only be grown on mycelium.. Yay now the biome is necessary.

    Quote from itsmewallis

    To all my Minecraft veterans,

Remember the old days of Minecraft? The randomness of all biome's where they seamed more random. What I'm trying to say is that the new minecraft SUCKS worlds feel the same and they have no different qualities its like the world are the same! I miss the old way who else does!
Hopefully they Make it more like the old days.

I've been here awhile now at lest before beta, somewhere in alpha I bought the game.. And ever update has only made the game better and more fun.. Nothing has gotten worse.. anyway

I fail to see what your talking about .. The worlds have "never" been all that different and if anything.. the worlds are more different now then ever before, what with all the new areas that didn't exist when I started.

I fail to understand what people are complain about when they say the worlds are all the same or they suck..

Also note.. When you play a game to much it becomes boring and old and no matter whats done the game is gonna feel boring and old.. its time to take a break - when you re-visit it'll feel fresh again. So maybe all the issue really is with these topics are people just have played to much and need to take a break..

posted a message on mob ai a little bugged? (video)
the one skeleton and zombie are seemingly way to friendly with each other.. Suppose there excessive hugging was that.. keeps them from burning also.. :tongue.gif:

anyways cats and dogs also spin a lot on half steps (As well as beds and brewing stands(not sure if dogs do on stands) oddly..)

So maybe it an issue with them being half... There use to be lighting issues with half steps also so maybe the "Fix" for that has something to do with it also..

posted a message on Spining cats..
When a cat jumps on a brewing stand like this kitten and big cats:

It just will spin in circles a lot..

Maybe they don't know how to get to me from on top of one? (they will jump off if your far enough away of course).

    I just found it amusing..

edit: Actually after observing it a bit they seem to be doing it intentionally..

posted a message on A very strange map loading..
So today I got what I thought was my first chuck error.. nothing major - but neat for me to see...

Then i noticed.. there's some more chunk errors it seems...

and its kinda of a lot.. then I looked at my map through Minutor..

Seems I have a giant section of "super flat" just hanging off my world..

Now is it possible that since i was playing in creative on a super flat just flying about (Was a random seed btw).. then when I was done I deleted that world and then started a new creative map with the seed 4730482906978961744 (I was going to look at the jungle island seed but i forgot the -) and world had the same name. The super flat stuck on the side of my map is the same as from my creative as I can see the torches I was placing (they are far off to the southwest so out of that Minutor screenshot).. Anyway..

Is it possible that some how the world wasn't totally deleted so it just re-made those chunks as is? Is it a bug or a known glitch or something? As I haven't read or seen anything about it before. (Checked the wiki and nothing on its bugs for super flat sorta tried to search the forums but came up with nothing also).

Few pictures from the super flat section looking back at the not so flat area..

I did try the same sorta process but it didn't do anything odd. So perhaps it was just a once in a million issue.. and so no big deal.. at lest I have an odd map in my collection now.. right? (I post it here as this is with the latest snap shot, but if it belongs elsewhere feel free to move it).

posted a message on Minecraft not Potioncraft
I'm happy there is more to craft then tools.. Potions have potential..

I am disappointed in the types of potions picked.. (after playing Terraria it sorta felt meh to me.. as it has basically the same ones + many better ones... they are very useful in that game.. this one I can't see me using them as is for more then having them for completion's sake...) but then I guess what other kinds can you really make.. potions that create a monster when thrown?.. or a block type.. or even an item.. that would of been more fun to me.. but oh well. *but I guess creeper potions could be abused really ridiculously in smp.. house full of creepers anyone?.. welcome home.. anyway..

Also the potion system having a certain randomness to it like enchants would been fun.. so you don't necessarily get the right potion.. so randomly get junk or great things by mistake... but mostly things turn out as expected..

But we'll see where it goes... they may yet make potions that are more then buffs.. All in all it is a fine addition.. doesn't really take away anything.. and adds something that will be useful to some.

posted a message on 12 More days untill "But its betaa" argument goes away.
Isn't actually 12(11 now i guess) more days till Notch can officially stop updating minecraft and never add anything else if he so chose, since the games released and all we technically bought was the complete game.

So everything added after release is like bonus content and not really necessary. So technically all argument can cease cause the game is done and you can't expect anything else.. If you want anything else you'll just have to go complain to modders..

So really " it's beta" argument ends and the "game was already finished anything added now is bonus and you can't complain" argument will start.

If you don't like the game you can always move on there are other games.. or you can always mod in or out anything you so chose..

posted a message on Mob blocker block
why not just make it as easy to get as a torch.. except it gives no light and instead just no spawns in the same area as a torch..

Then there is nothing to complain about.. since it'd just be a torch with out light.. since you don't seem to mind torches you just don't like the light..

Maybe even make it the same recipe as a torch.. just upside down and it is a "smoldering" torch or something to that effect.. Works exactly like a torch just.. no light.

posted a message on Is anyone getting tired of all the new stuff?
You can also note nothing has changed really to stop you from playing minecraft how you always did before.. Since everything that has been added is optional.. Which simply gives us more.. options. How can we hate having more options?..

    posted a message on GolemCraft..
While I know this is getting out on a limb and maybe even a bit.. much..

Anyone who's played Legend of Mana might remember the making golems bit.. and now we can make snow golems.

I thought these could be combined .. so you could create golems of different blocks like.. a wood golem or a iron (block) golem - and based on the material you used would give the golem more or less hearts.. For ores you'd need to use the block versions so 18 ores crafted in to two blocks for a golem + a pumpkin (maybe have differing heads).

Then this idea can be made so you can right click a golem and open a "command" menu.. where you can equip it with armor for def. or a weapon to attack with.. and have a single item slot for food. By default the golem would stand there and not do anything productive.. You'd need to equip and adjusts its settings.

Then it needs a simple gambit like system from FF12... So it can be used in a practical manner(wolves and snow golems are fun but aren't necessarily practical as sometimes a bit random).. Where you set if it is a skeleton or a Zombie pig man (since bow and arrow or sword are our weapons.. those are the current monsters that fight with them.. though they'd probably need a melee and a ranged AI made for them specifically, but for the sake of this post I'm just going to skip that..(based on which weapon you give it), Then you need one for what % of its hearts it needs to use its food item..

Then you can set weather it follows the player or stands in one spot(for guard towers or guarding a door) or if it "guards and area" (like a 10 X 10 block space or something and will attack monsters that enter in to that range)..

These then could be built to protect our bases or aid us in "raiding" a cave.. and if team base Multilayer severs come eventually.. they could even be used for small scale "wars".. or for a chest match.. or checkers... anyway..

Basically this would be a way more complicated wolf I guess using the snow golem as a base.. That would require a bunch of ores/time and some amount of maintenance for them to stay functioning since armors, weapons, and food will wear/run out after awhile.. and the more you have the more you need.. and if they die your out of your materials..

With the potions now added, they could even only be able to use certain potions to heal them, rather then food.

I can see how this could be more then a bit overpowered in the long run.. So maybe there would need to be a cap on how many you can have active in a single world.. For muti-player would need be each player can create X amount of them.. If that is an issue..

Well that's the idea.. not sure how to better explain but since I like the concept I figured I'd put it out there.. To be liked or hated or thought of as meh...

posted a message on Randomly lit rooms?
I've seen this a few times to.. placing a torch removed the light then removing the torch the light is gone..

    Quote from MadocComadrin »
I once ran into a pitch black room full of lava, but that seems to be the opposite of this.

Same.. and setting a torch magically lights the whole room..

So it is some kinda lighting bug.

posted a message on What survival means to you
.. some people get a sense of accomplishment having collected and built something they like - I don't see why you need monsters.

but if the combat system is ever improved - maybe then I can agree monsters add to the game.. or maybe if the game adds leveling to you could make monsters useful.. or any incentive for them to be there at all (besides useless items that can only be gotten in drops...). but for now there just a nuisance that only purpose is to disrupt the fun...

I don't think survival needs to include monsters at all as it is now, so I don't.. but I can't even play creative mode.. It has no fun value at all..
