You have toe extract the .jar file out of the .zip file. The minecraft.jar file belongs into your .minecraft/bin folder.
To avoid the error message you need to create a server folder in your .minecraft folder. So that it looks like /appdata/roaming/.minecraft/server ... in this server you have to put a blank minecraft_server.jar...
Just create a new textdocument and let it empty... name it minecraft_server.jar ... so singleplayer thinks it have all it needs to start.
