Thank you for showing me how to sprint, I'll be doing it next time I'm on. 8D

As for the flax, I planted 100 plants and proceded to bonemeal them then harvest and planted only as many seeds as were harvested. It took 14 harvests from a start of 100 plants to get down to no more seeds. It's definitely a below 50% chance of getting any seeds from adult plants, possibly below 40%. The first harvest of 100 plants only gave me a little over 60 seeds and over a stack and a half I think of fiber.

Something else, why not make the bees semi-aggressive like the wolves and iron golems? Then they could spawn in peaceful mode. Where there's a hive there could be a couple drifting close by. When it's an occupied apiary they would spawn and roam about just like iron golems protecting their "village". They don't spawn without a queen in the apiary. Don't know if this makes any sense, I don't have any experience with modding, but I was thinking that maybe the coding for the iron golems could be augmented for the bee swarms.

Yeah I'm not 100% sure why it's like that... Its the same chances as the original peaceful pack from back around the beta time. I didn't pick it!

But it would make sense to up them, thats for sure!

I remember wanting to create a custom AI for them like that, just never got around to it. Maybe if I ever pick it up again I'll give it a go.

This mod looks so cool, I really want to add it. However I do have request: please, please, please add a sapling for the kindle wood trees. Those trees are so pretty and I love collecting and growing trees from all different mods. The deep red wood, golden leaves, flame particles!! They're so great. If you don't want farming of the trees to be a thing you can always set the sapling drop rate to something less than 1 per tree on average like AM2 does with witchwood trees or Twilight forest does with it's magic trees. I would d-load this mod in a heartbeat if you added saplings for the kindle wood trees. They're just so good looking!

That would probably be acceptable I guess!

I'll keep that in mind for if I ever continue the mod!

Ah, okay. I started using the youtube video for the crafting recipes and as a guide, but I'll definitely be checking that out.

I am really loving this peaceful mode. 1.6.4 is kinda odd for me because I only started Minecrafting February 2014 so I miss sprinting and all the different flowers and the biome diversity, but it's still nice. Watching it snow against a desert is kinda interesting. I kept crashing the game trying to preset it to a Mesa biome not realizing that Masas weren't introduced until after 1.7. XD Thought it'd look cool with the beehives hanging under the acasia trees.

If I think up anything more do you want me to post it here?

I had some for food. 3 wheat like you're making bread plus a drop or more of honey makes a honey loaf, or you could call it a sweet loaf. Wheat, honey drop, and an apple make apple pie, like a pumpkin pie with honey for sugar. You can make a honeycomb cake by replacing the sugar with honey on the cake recipe. A bucket of milk and a bottle of honey would give you a bottle of honey milk. Drinking honey milk is like a health boost that stops the hunger bar from dropping any further and protects you from negative stats, like nausea and poison, for maybe a couple of minutes. Drink one before attacking a witch or eating anything weird like rotten flesh or spider eyes when you need food and all you have is stuff that can get you sick. Something else is you have flax seeds in the game, why not make them edible? Like wheat, honey (or sugar), and flax seeds could make flax cookies. Bread made with flax seeds could make whole grain bread. To make it worth it recipes with flax or honey might have greater saturation so you're full for a lot longer. If you use flax seed in real life, grind it or crack it open in some way because your digestive system can't open it. Buy it ground or grind it. It'll go out in exactly the same condition it was in when it was swallowed and you won't get the omega 3's.

Edit: Just checked out the links and they are both for after the 1.6.4 version I'm using. Does that matter? If I'm running the game in 1.6.4 wouldn't that negate and made after?

Wanted to add one more thing, the flax really should drop more seeds. I'll find patches as small as 3 plants and because they don't always drop seeds they'll dwindle down until there's nothing left and then I won't be able to find more because of how rare it is.

There is sprinting in 1.6.4?! I just don't think there is a hotkey for it, you have to double tap the forward button.

I like the food ideas! I do feel like if these were added, then more food for the existing minecraft items would need to be added to balance it out or something!

They should have an archive of older versions. You have to use the 1.6.4 version, so just check around for it!

I think I remember playing around with them and realising that. I just never worked on it after to fix it.

The original post states under beekeeping, "for now I suggest using a crafting guide to get the recipes!" I can't seem to find the crafting guide. Sorry to bug you like this so much but could you please point the way?

I started playing with placing apiaries spaced far on a superflat and some were centered in large villager gardens, some in 11x11 patches of flax, some in 11x11 patches of red flowers, and some clean grass blocks. There doesn't seem to be any difference in wax/honey/grub production. Stacking three high doesn't seem to do anything either.

Also another suggestion I wanted to throw on the bonfire, a beekeeper villager. If proximity to an occupied apiary would boost crop growth then it would make sense that the villagers would keep bees. He'd deal in wax, honey and flax related items like buying cooked honey porkchops and candles with emeralds and selling wax for emeralds like it was wool or paper. Chandeliers and the beekeeping veil could be high end items. The buying and selling of queen bees is realistic. She'd cost as much as a high end enchanted book and if she's something that could be sold she'd sell for half as much as she costs. I've been placing a clump of trees in the middle of or near villages and add a wild hive to it, like one of their apiaries swarmed and settled in the trees nearby.

By a crafting guide I meant another mod like this, or nei.

I'm pretty sure it was written in the code that red and yellow flowers should affect the speed, but maybe something happened. Things do get ruined in the updates between Minecraft updates sadly...

That would actually be a pretty neat idea, good thinking!

Thank you for the answers and answering so fast! This will help a Lot! I started playing Minecraft around February 2014, so 1.6.4 might be a bit primitive for me, but I won't let that hold me back! Especially for beekeeping! Off to download 1.6.4!

And thank you for not shooting down the ideas. Saddened that it's not being worked on, but here's hoping! 8)

LOL! Suddenly some crazy ass, ginormous bumblebee bounces off my window and scares the freak'n crap out of me! Guess he's protesting the beekeeping mod! 8D Queen Abuse! Queen Abuse!

Edit: One question, can I use just one zip, like just the beekeeping, or do I need to use them all running together for it to work?

    No worries!

    What's the chances! ^_^

You will have to use the core as well, but that doesn't add any gameplay features.

Videos about bee keeping in the old Amazopack led my search for the download to here, so is there a link for the most updated version currently available?

All this back and forth has me confused and I don't know what to look for, much less where to go to find it. I was looking into Mo Creatures, but I'd rather play with the bee keeping no matter how hard it is to find. Also, I have no clue about this, can mods interact? Like would I be able to turn on one aspect of one mod and another for another mod and mix and match or would that screw up my game? I don't recall this having been brought up and I can't tell if this is a stupid question.

I've never downloaded and used mods before, so I really am clueless on this stuff. Can they be turned off like resource packs so we can play regular vanilla minecraft or does it change the game too much to be compatible with servers?

Something else, don't know if it's a dumb idea, but what about using bees to boost your crops? Crops growing within a certain distance of your hive would grow faster as though it's raining, only your bees would be a separate boost on top of anything else going on. Only crops that can be boosted with bonemeal would be effected. The flowers would still be needed to help your bees or perhaps your crops could fulfill the same role and replace the flowers. Another idea was taller flowers might count for more, like two block tall flowers counting for two flowers and three block tall flowers counting for three flowers.

Also what about wild hives being a little more common in flower forest biomes?

An effect that could be cool is an occupied hive could create a soft hum/buzzing sound and a few blocks covered in or containing flickering, dark pixels (like static) could randomly appear, drift over your flowers and crops, and vanish. Or maybe the block flits about like a low flying bat. The flying bees would also hum. All I really know about the bees is the Amazopack video and reading that the beekeeping mod from that was put into here so as far as I know it still just looks like the only bee seen is the queen. Workers flying about, even if it’s just for show, would really be nice.

The latest update I made on this mod was for 1.7.2, and it is quite buggy.

If you wanted to play it with minimal problems and are happy to play on 1.6.4, then that version is the best to play.

You can have more than one mod on at a time.

They are sort of like resource packs in a way that you can add them to a mods folder. But there is no GUI in the game to disable them, you just have to copy them back out of that folder. I suggest looking up how to use forge!

I believe you can still play on servers with mods installed, you just wont be able to use any of the modded stuff.

I'm currently not working on the mod, but if I ever pick it back up I'll keep these in mind!

I'm not ready to fully let it go yet, so probably not... But when I am 100% sure I'm done I definitely will!

We were under the illusion that all 3rd party textures in our mod were from the open source mrykmod. We just checked the source and realised that the cannabis plant which we are using is not covered by that mod and is owned by Herblore. We are doing our best to create a new texture and push an update; thanks for your patience. Expect a build within a day or two fixing this issue.

I noticed above that you only found out about the open source myrkmod textures after you had already started using them. From the beginning you had no idea. But no worries, I appreciate it.

I can confirm that some of the textures you have used aren't from the original Herblore mod, such as the cannabis plant textures, which means they aren't open source and available for you to use without permission. I would appreciate it if you took down these stolen textures asap. Thanks.

I can confirm that folks on the #minecraftforge IRC channel are working towards an alternative for block and item modeling. In fact, there already is a PR to the Forge GitHub for alternate block models. However, the caveat is that it uses OBJ (WaveFront model); your alternate option is using blender-made files instead of cobbling JSON together.
I'm not really sure what, if anything, will be done to make the modeling more dynamically oriented (less hard-coded). What I do know is if you're expecting to get back Tessellator/OpenGL direct control in rendering your blocks and items, think again. LexManos refuses to allow that back into Forge.

Then I guess I'll probably remove the vanilla recipes and create new vanilla swords. They'll look the same, they'll just be weaker or something. Though, I feel like if I made wood swords any weaker, they'd be no more powerful than a literal stick.... Which I guess makes sense, they kind of ARE literally sticks, heh.

    Well thats a little disappointing...
Sorry for being rather off-topic, but whats your opinion on this? Do you think they're taking it in the right direction?

I don't think you should lower the damage on the wooden sword, but lessen the durability for sure. I don't even think anyone uses wooden tools to be honest. The only time I use wooden tools is to mine for cobble for cobble tools...
