I had this idea for a while, I just finally got to a computer to post it. And I didn't know about that other guys campfire until after I posted this.

Have you every put a bunch of torches down and the mobs stopped spawning in that area, but about 5-10 blocks away they are still spawning and chasing you.

Well, I have an idea that save you from dieing and/or losing your house to creepers. Its a simple,ingenious, and helpful. Its the campfire, it will make light brightier and farther than torches (preventing mobs from spawning),and it will (with some clever scripting) keep the mobs away friendly and dangerous.

To create the campfire you will need to put,
It should be a the wood straight from the tree
completely surrounded by sticks.


Also this campfire does not last forever, every two days (game time) you will have to place another log down on the fire. Basicaly you just drop it on the lit campfire. If the campfire already ran out drop the log then light it with a flint+steel.

This is my idea for the campfire. If they every chose to add it to Minecraft, hopefully I will get some credit. Also add your own ideas to bettering this possible future item.
