I would change my gamemode with NBT Edit or TooManyItems (i belive its a feature of the new TMI?)
but as of the next version (the actual snapshots) of Minecraft you will be able to easily switch to creative in your survivalworld so if its not urgent you could wait for the next version or install the snapshot (allways backup first )
then just type "/gamemode 1 nick" to switch to creative and "/gamemode 0 nick" to change it back to survival
This is great news! I really miss those little guys. I will wait for the next version and repopulate them! Thanks for the help, everyone!
sorry to say but they don't you would need atleast 2 to repopulate your village
If you really want some villagers you could find the next village and transplant some over via minecarts ( or if it dosn't bother you just spawn 2 in creative)
Still the best course of action for villages is to blockoff atleast one welllight house with zwo testificates in case they all mass suicide..
How would I spawn 2 in creative and get them into my survival game?
I thought I was mining 300-400 blocks away, but maybe underground my mines came close enough to the village to load that chunk and then they drowned or got stuck on cactus. It seems pretty unlikely that all them would have done that. That's why I suspect some npc population dynamic.
I play on Peaceful setting and spent a few game days mining away from home, which is an npc village. In real time, I was away from the game for about 2 weeks. When I returned today to my village, all the npcs were gone. I can't figure out what happened. Could it be because I have about 10 cats and 2 dogs there and the game thought the population was too high?
I'm mostly stuck on the design aspect -- where to raise the path, where to tunnel, whether to keep it level or follow the ups and downs of the landscape. I'd like to integrate it into the environment as much as possible, or maybe a sky rail would be less intrusive (or more intrusive)?
Thanks, I have found an abandoned mineshaft, and so have lots of wood, fences, and rails. Do wood paths catch fire from torches?
jainaseagol, how is tnt useful for this project?
I found some really useful info in this thread, but it's an older thread and people may have more suggestions now.
I'm thinking about making a simple long-distance transportation system on my own map, to connect me to other places I've explored. I'm hoping to make something that doesn't intrude too much on the natural beauty and that doesn't require advanced redstone skills. It’ll cross oceans too.
I'm guessing I'll start with a narrow walking path (sprinting path, lol), elevated or tunneled, then later I can add tracks. I like scenic railways, so I want to keep that in mind as I do it, following the contours of the environment.
I'm kind of stuck on how to go about this, and which materials to use. Do you have any tips or suggestions?
I hadn't thought of this. I'm not much of a builder, but I have learned that building portals too high up in the nether gets you ported to treetops in the overworld, not to my liking. Where are you building your portals if you travel along the ceiling?
I recommend watching some LPs on YouTube for inspiration. That's what I do when I feel my SSP world is getting a bit stale. It always gives me new ideas. Ethoslab and Lorgon111 are two good channels for me personally to get new ideas, both in very different ways. Etho likes building awesome technical stuff, whilst Lorgon111 is into exploring and spelunking. They both inspire me and give me ideas in different ways. That would be my recommendation! Find some LPs and get some inspiration!
Excellent suggestion! I've been watching the Lorgon ones and have lots of good ideas now.
