Turn On/Off: Press the "o" key while in the inventory screen. You can change this key by editing the configuration file.

Add items: Left-click on items in the right sidebar to add full stacks, or right-click to add one at a time.

Configuration file: Find the directory in which your minecraft saves folder and options.txt are, and once you have used TMI at least once you will also find TooManyItems.txt there. This contains options that you can change, not all of which are documented yet.

Spawners: In some previous versions, to create different kinds of spawners, edit the "spawner" line in the configuration file. Use at your own risk; in some (older) versions of Minecraft, spawners of non-mob entities such as boats can crash the game and wreck your save.

Unlimited stacks/tools (single-player only): Shift-left-click on items in the right sidebar to add unlimited stacks OR unlimited-use tools or flint and steel. ModLoader is required for "true" unlimited stacks. Without ModLoader the quantity of >64 stacks will refresh when you open your inventory.

Tabs: Use the chest, star, and book icons to change between the item, favorites, and enchant tabs.

Favorites: This allows you to save commonly used items. ADD to the favorites panel by: (1) clicking an item on the favorites panel, (2) alt-clicking an item in the items panel, or (3) clicking the Favorite button in the enchant panel. REMOVE an item from the favorites panel by alt-clicking it.

Enchanting: (in SP, or may work on some Bukkit servers) Click an item on the enchanting panel to switch to that type of item. Use the + and - buttons to change the levels of individual enchantments. Click the Create button to make the enchanted item once, or the Favorite button to add it to the favorites panel.

Trash (single-player only): Drop an item stack on the item sidebar or the trash icon to delete it. Click the trash icon to turn "delete mode" on and off (in "delete mode" you will delete any item you click on -- useful for selectively deleting a lot of items). Shift-click thee trash icon to wipe out your inventory.

Game mode: Click the "S", "C", and "A" icons on the toolbar for survival, creative, and adventure mode, respectively.

Time: Click the sun and moon icons to set the time to sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.

Difficulty: Click the creeper icon to toggle the difficulty without having to go into game preferences.

Health/hunger: Click the heart icon to set health and hunger to max.

Save states (single-player only): Several slots are available for you to save your entire inventory and restore it later. (The "x" button next to a saved state will remove it.) This can be used to save your "real" inventory before editing, save a blank inventory to clear out everything you're holding, save a full inventory of materials, share inventories between characters, etc.

Multiplayer: You need to be a server op. Also, every non-vanilla server works a little differently. The command issued to the server to give you items is configured in TooManyItems.txt as "give-command". In this command, you should put {0} for the player's username, {1} for the item ID, {2} for the quantity, and {3} for the damage value. If {3} isn't in the command, items with damage values other than 0 won't show up.

Vanilla server command: /give {0} {1} {2} {3}

* Since the vanilla server used to not support item damage with the give command, TMI may still have /give {0} {1} {2} by default. You can now add {3} to the end. The default will be updated in a future TMI version.

Bukkit with the Essentials mod command: /item {1}:{3} {2}

Fast crafting: Right-click on the output square when crafting to craft the maximum possible amount. (Works while the inventory overlay is disabled).

Troubleshooting

Crashes show an error report on a purple and white screen, and you can copy and paste the report into a post. With the latest version of TMI, most errors that would have crashed should instead show a chat message that says a report has been saved to a file in your minecraft folder, and you can copy and paste from that file into a post.

Black screens are caused primarily by: not deleting META-INF from your minecraft.jar, mod conflicts, wrong versions of mods, and improperly installing mods. Please check these things and, if necessary, start fresh from a new minecraft.jar as an old installation problem may still be causing errors.

"TMI doesn't show up": Press the "o" key in your inventory screen to turn TMI on and off. (Unless you have already changed this in your config file.) Your preference about whether TMI should be displayed is separate in single- and multi-player. If this still doesn't work, you probably did not install TMI correctly.

Notes: TMI's code does not run until you open your inventory. Problems creating games are something else. TMI does not change any crafting recipes. You are not forced to use fast crafting: just left click like normal instead of right clicking. Yes, TMI does work in multiplayer, but read the instructions. No, it is not a server mod. Finally, the number of pages of items depends on your Minecraft window size, so, you are not missing items because it doesn't have the same pages as in the screenshot.

Uninstalling: If you manually installed a mod, the only way to uninstall is to either restore your backup copy of minecraft.jar (you did make a backup, right?) or delete minecraft.jar and run the game launcher so it downloads a new minecraft.jar. If you used a mod manager, refer to its instructions.

NOTICE (As of Snapshot 12w01a):



This is an screenshot of the beach gen that was re-added in Snapshot 12w01a. Please note that this is not representative of the new beaches in general, but instead an example of what the new generation can create!

Jeb appears to have simply changed the blocks which form the transition between land and the ocean biome from dirt to sand. This forms ugly clumps of sand hardly resembling beaches on hilly terrain. This DOES NOT resemble actual beaches or beaches as they once were in Beta 1.7.3! Or reality for that matter.

What should be done to correct this:

• Simply limit the max height of sand that can generate to two to three blocks above sea level, which would be identical to beach generation prior to Beta 1.8. With beaches essentially being their own biome, such a change should feasibly be easy since it shouldn't conflict with other biomes. If you believe otherwise, please state so and why!

With the inclusion of the new terrain generation in recent releases, I've read about many major topics and comments having to do with terrible biome transitions involving the swamp biome and the such. However I have not seen any real topics concerning the exclusion of beaches and the issues concerning underwater bedding. So here is the point of this topic:

Summary:

1.) Beaches was a widely-liked feature of the previous terrain generator and it needs to be restored.

This should be simple enough. Just add back beaches into the terrain generator. Also gravel beaches should be returned as well. More on that later in the topic.

2.) Although a less important issue, underwater bedding, lacks the uniformity and overall realism that it used to have. Currently, lakes and oceans are covered in splotchy patches of dirt, sand, and clay.

The main argument against the current underwater bedding generation is that allows for easy access to large amounts of clay, and that clay was supposedly more rare in the previous generator. However, it was abundant, since the x=z clay generator bug that previously plagued the game was patched in 1.7.

However, to further address this issue, clay density and frequency can be increased to satisfy those who believe that more clay truly is necessary.[/indent]

The poor state of these aspects of the terrain generator has proven to be both an annoyance and an eyesore to me and the community as well. Beach gen prior to 1.8 paralleled realistic beaches and was more aesthetically pleasing in general. To further elaborate what I mean:

As you can see, beaches do not actually generate in 1.8 and later, the "beaches" you see are actually not beaches at all; they are simply the outcroppings of the underwater sand bedding crossing onto the shore. This brings me to the next point: underwater bedding.

As you can see, in 1.8 and later, underwater bedding consists of ugly patches of circular splotches, whether it be in a lake or an ocean. Previously, it was both aesthetically appealing and realistic. Clay would still be fairly abundant if the patch from 1.7 were also incorporated into clay generation. If that is not enough, we can simply have clay generated in the same manner as depicted in the picture below in higher frequencies or larger quantities:

Lastly, gravel beaches should be added back. It was a realistic feature of the old terrain generator and also broke up the monotony with the constant sand beaches. It is not a necessary feature to be re-added, though it would be nice.

Hello all! My kids have really enjoyed playing Minecraft Pocket Edition on their Galaxy tablets along with exploring others' creations from these forums. Though my son had been creating before seeing other maps, I finally talked him into saving something to post online. So this is one of my stories for Minecraft. Hope you enjoy.

THE WORLD

-Pigmen and creepers were the first inhabitants of the world. I based this on two things: 1- creepers are the race that stand out from the others, meaning they didn't evolve from others, and 2-See "Pigmen" below. Slimes were also one of the first inhabitants, but they didn't interfere with the world or other species.
- Normal animals - cows, sheep, wolves, chicken - existed but weren't sapient.

-Mineshafts were built by humans. Humans always want more power, so it would make sense for them to mine ores.

-Strongholds were built by pigmen. They were interested in the possibility of other dimensions and scientific advancement: Think of strongholds as labs. It explains the portals located inside.

-Dungeons were built by creepers. All creepers want is to eradicate the other species, so they invented spawners and used chests as bait.

- Mushroom biomes came after the Nether incident. See below.

- The new jungle/desert temples were built by humans as multi-purpose buildings (such as forts, houses, etc). They were abandoned after Nether invasion, during which various traps were set up.


PIGMEN

Pigmen, as I said above, were interested in scientific advancement. So the first time they tried making a portal, it failed and the resulting effect took some of their DNA and created two new species: pigs and humans.

HUMANS

Humans carried the pigmen's intelligence. However, they became more and more greedy, making enormous mineshafts.

PIGS

Carried the pigmen's appearance and physical advancement but were very dumb. Nothing important here.

CREEPERS

They seemed peaceful at first, but they were just hiding their true intentions: become the dominant species. So they built dungeons, but they needed a way to kill their enemies without killing themselves.
- Note: Some people weren't quite understanding it first, so here is an addendum. The creepers have paws especiallized to be used in building, carrying, and generally do what arms do for us. Ever heard of armless people who live fine using only their feet? That's what the creepers do.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER:

In one of the strongholds, while Pigmen were testing their portals, creepers swapped some chemicals to ones considered cursed, because they needed soldiers to their cause and expected to enslave the beings that would come from the portal. When it was activated, the Nether beings invaded the world.

THE NETHER:

Was the place that used to be the Ghasts' home, before they started doing the same thing as pigmen, opening a dimensional rift that destroyed their world. Result of this rift was the End (see below).

NETHER BEINGS:

All used to live peacefully with the Ghasts. When the accident happened, they just wanted to take revenge on everything else, because they couldn't contain their rage.

Note: that does include Magma Cubes! People weren't getting it...

NETHER FORTRESSES:

Shells of what used to be civilization on the Nether.

WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE INVASION:

-Humans were affected by the mysterious plagues coming from the Nether. Some became hungry zombies, others retained some intelligence to use bows and became skeletons.

-Another Nether plague affected insects. It explains giant spiders and silverfish.

-Pigmen, trying to stop the destruction Ghasts and Blazes were making, formulated different ways to close all Nether portals: one of them was entering...

THE END

As I said above, the dimensional rift that destroyed the Nether created an dimensional plane, the End. It was all empty except for some floating islands, but the pigmen though using the physics of this world would close the Nether portals, which were opening randomly. Unfortunately, the End had twisted physics and nothing was right there. So the pigmen didn't enter.

However, remaining humans wanted to get away from all the conflict with their precious minerals. So they entered the portal, being chased by a Ghast. Since nothing worked right in there, they were mutated into the Endermen. The Ghast that chased them mutated into the dragon.

The physics of the End don't affect the humans who came later (players) because a long time must be spent there for consequences to appear.

ENDERMEN:

Humans who entered the End and could never change back. As a result of the End's strange physics, they learned to teleport. Knowing they would never be human again, and would never have their ores again, they just steal blocks to remind them of their former self. They attack when you look at them because, remembering they were once like that, they have a great fear you could kill them, knowing a human has greater strength than them.

The only way to open the portal to End is using several Ender eyes. The blaze powder, a very good chemical adapter, is combined with an ender pearl, the organ that permits enderman to teleport. This activates the portal, using the ender part to locate the destination (the End).

WHAT THE CREEPERS DID:

With success on their plan, the creepers used what the Nether offered to create monster spawners and destroy their enemies.

PIGMEN'S SOLUTION:

They entered the Nether, seeing it was the only way to stop everything. They were affected by the plague, but they invented a device to make the plague only affect them physically, however it was too late to save the humans since they were already on the Nether, only having physical changes. They used all their remaining technology and enchantments to close themselves inside, saving the overworld, it's inhabitants and their pig brethen.

THE PLAYER AND THE VILLAGERS:

Here it gets complicated: There is no "Steve". The remaining humans were divided in two groups:

-Those who tried to escape the plague and made a mass exodus on boats. That, combined with Ghasts sending them everywhere, resulted in the complete separation of the species. That means every game is true: since the world is so big, no human will ever find another. Works for SMP too: some humans traveled together in their escape.

-those who preferred to become very dumb, since the plague only affected intelligent species. They made small villages and lived peacefully.

WHAT HAPPENED TO SLIMES

They used to peacefully live in the world, being one of the original species. Lived on the surface as well as in caves, eating natural materials such as wood and stone. But when human miners started to invade their homes, slimes had to defend themselves, but with their body not being ready for combat, they were being defeated.

Humans then discovered that slimeballs were useful to glue tools together: they began to hunt for them. By the time of the Nether invasion, slimes had already retreated to the depths of the earth, on places humans wouldn't find them.

- MUSHROOM BIOMES:

The Nether, being full of mushrooms, infected the places with randomly generated portals (not pigmen created ones, just the portals being opened around the world during the invasion). Yes, that means every mushroom biome used to be an invasion point with a portal. Animals (cows) who wandered there were infected by the fungi too.

PIG BEING HIT BY LIGHTNING:

They become zombie pigmen because the lightning activates genes that had split pigmen into humans and pigs, transforming it into a pigman again. The reason it's zombie is because the transformation back is not perfect and so they don't become "full", rather they become similar to undead.

CHARGED CREEPERS:

Creepers get supercharged because of a device they implanted in their body to help destroying remaining humans, but it requires a large amount of energy. When they're hit by lightning, the device is activated, making their explosion much more dangerous.


SNOW GOLEMS

Pigmen creation, engineered only to fight blazes. The pigmen taught humans how to create them during the Nether invasion, so they could defend themselves.

IRON GOLEMS:

Another pigmen construct, engineered to protect the strongholds from zombies; but they never got produced before the pigmen migrated to the Nether. The blueprints survived, though, and were taken by villagers later.
- The golems look like villagers because the blueprints were damaged, and they needed to come up with something.

CONCLUSION:

-Pigmen now live in the Nether, with the same mind as before, but in a world too dangerous for their old civilization.
-Creepers succeeded in becoming the dominant species.
-Also means humans are slowly dying out, and with creeper attacks, undead and monsters, and natural death, they will eventually become extinct. Remember respawning is just a game mechanic.

- Herobrine does not exist. Period. This story don't credit stupid made-up stuff.
-Some humans don't realize they need to fight together to survive, and try to steal from each other - which could be expected seeing humans are greedy already.(PvP in SMP). Some just want to kill others in a way they have fun, while still minding the diamonds (griefers).

I might come back to this thread on occasion to answer a question or two, but mostly I will be focusing on the mod. I've made a few big key changes over the past few months, including one that I'm very happy about that gives me even more freedom to create more epic Temples to house Artifact Armor.

You may be pleased to see that I have updated the design document image, to include all of the features I had designed before Choam left.

Caveats to keep in mind:

-This is a very old thread, back in january when I posted my original image. The mod is significantly different, so if you really, really want to read the thread, I would just read the last 20 pages or so.

Artifact Orbs are now known as Keystones. This is to prevent confusion between the orbs and the armor/tools.

-Just to clarify, this mod is definitely not going to be released before 1.8, as it would be silly to code aspects and features that Notch is already putting in the game. (NPCs, new mob properties, combat changes, etc)

Release time is when it's done, but I'd like to shoot for around when Minecraft officially releases.


-Thieves have a very low spawn chance, 2% max, and you can easily get back any stolen Keystones by killing the next one you see.

-Once inside a Temple, you will be restricted from placing blocks or items, unless a specific one is specified in that particular temple. Temples exist within their own dimension.

-Keystones and Artifact-related items are indestructible in one way or another. They will always be recoverable.

-Currently, if you accidentally destroy your artifact items, they will respawn in the Labyrinths where you found them. If you die while in a Labyrinth, you will respawn with them still in your inventory.

-In case you're wondering, the White Labyrinth can use any combination of the colors, minus black, as white is a combination of all primary colors.

-The White Labyrinth is not the final Labyrinth. There are 6 regular labyrinths, and one final labyrinth.

-This mod is for single player only, for the time being.

-The Divining Stone pulses faster the closer you are to the artifact.

-You can convert Keystones from one color to another using Orichalcum.

-You won't be able to turn thieves off.

-It says right on the image, but Artifacts only spawn within a reasonable (but large) radius around your initial spawn point.

-The image didn't have to be this big, but I did it anyway.

-There are several undisclosed details and features that weren't in the preview, because we are coding them and don't want to promise something and then end up not doing it.

Are you an Alphabro who always posts on how you miss the good old days of Alpha, and how the game was fun? Or are you a more recent player who just wanted to see what the game looked like before you even knew of Minecraft? Well, you are not alone. Not even close to alone. There are hundreds of thousands of players who think this way.

So ever since Alpha 1.2.0 when the terrain generation was altered (and in my opinion, screwed up), I've wanted the classic Alpha terrain with the current version's features. In December '10, I was happy to see MCNostalgia, as it allowed me to play Alpha 1.1.2_01, which had what was my favorite terrain generator. I loved it, but the loss of current features and the heavy presence of bugs kept me from staying there.

I am requesting a mod that allows for users to change the Minecraft version that it generates terrain from, and that being the only thing that changes; gameplay, items, blocks, ect will all be as of the client's version.

I am fully aware of the mods out there that do this by changing all worlds made to preHalloween Alpha, but the reason I am calling for this mod is for extreme convenience and flexibility.

I propose that the terrain type would be set upon creation of a new world, as shown here:


These are the versions you can choose from

• Alpha 1.1.2_01 (3rd gen Terrain)
• Beta 1.1_02 (4th gen Terrain w/o new trees)
• Beta 1.7.3 (4th gen Terrain w/ new trees)
• Beta 1.8.1 (5th gen Terrain w/o snow biomes)
• Minecraft 1.0 (5th gen Terrain w/ snow biomes)

Now about those other mods I talked about earlier: The best part of this mod would be the fact that you could make a 1.1.2 world, make a house and stuff on that terrain, then make a new world using 1.7.3 terrain without switching out mods/.jars. Another selling point of this mod would be that you can take your first world that was generated with an Alpha client, set the terrain type that corresponds to the version you made your world in, and play the game. Now, any new terrain that you would enter without this mod spawns 1.0.0 5th gen terrain and causes sudden, ugly chunk borders. With this mod, there would be no chunk borders: your 1.0.0 client would make the old terrain for a seamless world. No more backdating .jars to expand your old worlds with the old terrain.

Remember, a built in way to customize which seed a world generates from was added in Beta 1.3, so this mod would allow for 1st through 3rd gen terrain to be made from specific seeds; this is something that backdating your client can't do.

The new terrain just sucks. Once you have seen what a biome looks like, you've seen them all. Forests, swamps, deserts, taigas, grasslands, and tundras are flat as hell. Mountains are cool, but they are very difficult on gameplay as it takes 5 minutes to find a single tree. The underwater terrain is just this hodge-podge of dirt and sand, and looks extremely ugly. Swamps' coloring looks cool when you are in it, but the sudden boundaries of dark to light grass looks retarded.

(Those links are giving you a hint; thousands of people are reaching the same conclusions)

Now, 3rd gen terrain was based on 3D Perlin noise and created these very dynamic and visually appealing terrain. A new world felt new, and you really don't know what you are going to get, compared to now, a biome makes it extraordinarily obvious what the terrain is going to look like. 4th gen terrain lessened the extremity of the terrain, but was still random, and biomes were just an add on and did not affect the terrain as much as they do now.

Take a look at this video that has 3rd gen terrain of Alpha 1.1.2_01. 3rd gen worlds will generate cool terrain like this in almost all times you made a new world.


People who complain that new Minecraft sucks and how Alpha was epic are usually only miss the terrain generator; they played the game for a sense of fantasy and light-hearted gameplay, not this new dark and demanding game that has come of. This mod will be able to shut those people up for good, combining the new version with old terrain, and in combination with a texture pack, can make these guys love playing Minecraft again.


I backdated my client for the fun of it to play some mid Alpha, and after only 6 tries for an epic world, this is what I got. This is why I love Alpha.

If you make the mod and do a good job with the design and promotion, you could later rewrite it to allow custom imput of terrain. Then other mods will use your mod (Similar to what happened with Risugami's ModLoader) which will really push you high into the modding community.

Also refraining from making this mod because you don't actually have backups of the generation code? Well MCNostalgia will allow you to revert your game to these versions and just go from there.

There is a person out there who is walking to the Far Lands (Kurtjmac), and he is stuck with using 1.7.3 because the Far Lands were removed in 1.8. As time goes on, he will be stuck with using this old version while the Minecraft community passes him by, so by making this mod, you will allow him to generate pre1.8 terrain with the newest gameplay aspects, spicing up the videos for more enjoyment on his part, and others'. So please, someone create this mod, after all, Kurt is doing it for charity (and has already raised $11,000!).


Well this topic has about 50,000 views, which is really amazing, but still there are thousands of people who would love this mod but do not know about it. The use of the signature I made really draws people in, like you, to see this topic.

I put it as my signature for a month and regularly posted on the Survival Forum, and brought in 2,000 views. Two weeks later after I allowed others to use the sig, this topic has reached 7,000 views. After a month, we're up to 27,000. Just imagine if another hundred people used this sig for a month.

Currently NPC Villages are just small building with a farm or two. There only use is to mine the materials or make a shelter for the night. NPC Villages should vary based on the biome.
This would be more fun and would give a purpose to exploring. Also the Villages should have better houses not just cobblestone squares with wooden roof. The villages should all have walls around them too. It would also be nice to see a better chunk generation for cities so that they don't have underground houses and cracked paths. Does anyone else agree?

Mermaids/Merman- Water Mob, Peaceful mob, Sell shells to you, Live in fountains and waterways in underwater villages

Cave people-Nuetral Mob, wearing leather pants or loincloth

Guards: Neutral Mob to you, Stand near entrance of all cities, attack any hostile mobs when they get near the city.

Merchant: Sells you special items (Compass, Clock, Fishing rod etc.), Peaceful mob, Appears in special buildings like shops.

Changes for villager-
Attacks you when attacked
Shirt color varies
Made to look more like player (NOT exactly)
Primitive interaction (talking)
Don't leave town and will go from house to house every once in a while

In the world generator there should be a 3rd option that only generates one biome and does so infinitely. The biome would vary on the seed. This would allow for all snow worlds or Huge forests. (Mushroom land anyone?)

Ok, so Im just gonna give you the just of this post. Lets face it. Villagers currently suck. They do nothing and are there just to be there. Here is a list of things I would like to see added to villagers.


-Be programmed to maneuver around crops, farmland, cactus, and lava.

-Run away and/or fight back when punched.

-Run from/fight hostile mobs.

-Wear armor/hold tools.

-Villagers would complete tasks (Thanks to xnoble2x for this idea!)

-The player would be able to trade with certain villagers

-Villages would have families (husband, wife, children, ect.)

-Villagers would build structures and expand their village (Thanks to Honeyblue for this idea!)

Ok so right now we only have a few kind of villagers. We have:

The Farmer

The Librarian

The Priest

The Blacksmith

The Butcher

And The Villager.

Don't get me wrong, these are great Villagers, there's just one problem. They do absolutely nothing. So along with adding new villagers, the villagers should be given abilities.

Farmers would plant and harvest crops.

Librarians would sell books, bookshelves, and paper.

The priest would give hints about what you can do in the village (Thanks to SnowConez for this idea!) , sells leather armor , bottles (Thanks to hero122 for this idea!), and holy water.

The Blacksmith would sell ingots and armor.

The Butcher would sell raw porkchops, chicken, and beef.

The villager would do (?)

I want to be able to interact with villagers. Get to know them, actually talk to them. For example one of my ideas was that you could start a conversation with a villager, and interactively respond to him or her with pre-written lines of text. I have written what an average conversation may look like below:

Depending on how you deal with villagers, it will effect your reputation with this village. I have made a little demonstration chart using emoticons below:

:angry.gif: Your considered a criminal to this village. They will attack you onsight.
:sad.gif: You don't have a great reputation with this village. If you don't improve your reputation soon, they might attack.
:mellow.gif: You have a neutral relationship with this village. They won't attack you, but they won't be super friendly either.
:smile.gif: You have a friendly relationship with this city. They will not attack you.
:biggrin.gif: You are part of this village. If you ask for help with something, they will help you, and you will not be attacked.

Wouldn't it be awkward if you went up to a villager and you didn't even know what gender they were? Well I want unique differences in villagers. Here are some differences that Males and Females would have.

Male villagers would:
Have very short or no hair.
Sometimes males would have facial hair.

Female villagers would:
Have longer hair than males.


New villager section will be added later...
But you can be sure that there will be Pigmen...
