posted a message on Jeb has ruined everything.
It's really sad that the only great things Jeb made were ender guardians and other awesome stuff :(

Rally? You say Jeb ruined the game, and then go on to mention that he had awesome stuff? I would say the "other awesome stuff" he added far out-weighs the bad stuff. And I personally like bats. They might not be useful, but they add some atmosphere to the game. Plus, Jeb didn't intentionally "add lag". No developer would make their game more laggy on purpose. In fact, he was trying to do the exact opposite. He was trying to make the game run faster.

posted a message on Craftbound SMP [14+ Mature] [Vanilla Server] [Whitelisted] [1.8] [Mindcrack-Inspired]
    IGN: nosaJ4297

Age: 15, turn 16 in december

Skype (Necessary): I would rather not post it on a public forum, I can tell you via PM if I'm accepted.

    Timezone: CST

Why we should chose you for the server: I'm a fun guy that loves to play with others. I enjoy sharing my experience with other members of the server. I believe there's no point in playing on a server If I'm just going to move 10,000 blocks away and live the life of a hermit. That said, I do plan on having one or two of my own projects, so I won't constantly be stealing other people's projects. Not only do I enjoy helping others build, but I would love to help with other tasks, whether it be something as mundane as digging a big hole, or giving new members a tour of the server. I also have an above average understanding of redstone, so I could try to help others with redstone projects as well.

Are you mature (Honestly): I believe I am. I might get a bit angry on my first few nights outside of the spawn area, but once I get a base established, that won't be a problem. I consider myself very mature, however I still have a good sense of humor and can appreciate a good prank.

Strength's: Building! I love the creative aspect of Minecraft. I also enjoy caving and redstone, but given the choice, I would always choose to build something over caving. Many people in real life have told me that I am an excellent teacher as well, and hopefully that will translate well into the game, to help others on the server.

Weakness's: My biggest weakness is survivng the first few nights. I have difficulty starting off completely new. As much as I love the freedom it gives you to start any project you can imagine, it kinda sucks getting blown up be creepers and shot by skeletons. That being said, it has taught me how to find resources quickly to deal with challenges the game throws at me.

Do you know basic SMP skills? Such as how a nether hub works: Yes. I have helped build nether hubs on other servers, and attempted one in a single-player world (I say attempted because I lot that world before I finished it). I also have a good understanding of the economic side of a server, and how certain items are more or less valuable than others.

Have you ever watched Mindcrack, Hermit Craft OR The Cube SMP before?: I watch too much of them, honestly. I'm subscribed to most of the mindcrackers, my favorite being Zisteau and Beef. The only Hermit I'm subscribed to is Spumwack, who I have followed since he only had about 500 subscribers on his first channel.

Have you ever played on a Vanilla Server before? Why aren't you playing on it anymore if you haven't: Yes, I played on a few. Most I left due to there being too many jerks on it, and they lacked a sense of community. The last one I played on had some great people on it, but very few members. As a result, I was online alone most of the time, and I thought I might as well just play single-player. Shortly after I joined, the server shut down due to inactivity.

Why do you want to join OUR Vanilla Server?: I want to join a server because I've grown bored of playing alone in single-player. I lack motivation to do anything, which results in me deleting the world. However, on the last server I played on, I felt more motivated on the last server. So that's why I want to join a server, but I want to join this server specifically because it looks like you guys have a great community. You guys seem like a really fun group where you all know each other. And after seeing how strict you are with the applications, it shows that you really care about trying to create a close-knit community, which really separates you from other servers advertising here who just lets everyone on, regardless of the application.
Oh no! Someone has pranked you... What do you do?: Have a good laugh, and then remind them that revenge is a b**ch. Of course I will appreciate the creativity of the prank, but eventually it will have to come down.

What makes you better than an average Minecrafter?:I have played Minecraft for a very long time. I started playing back in beta 1.7.3, sometime in late august of 2011. Due to my history with the game, I know just about everything there is to the game. I could tell you the major additions of every update since I started playing. But not only is my knowledge in the history of Minecraft quite extensive, but so is my knowledge of certain game mechanics. For example, I have a general idea of different blocks that go together well, and blocks that don't. I have a very good eye for what looks good and what doesn't. This causes me to be a very picky builder. For example, I could spend half an hour trying to decide between using dark oak logs or spruce logs. But eventually I would figure it out, and move on to the next tiny detail that probably doesn't matter as much as I think it does. But it once you add 5-10 of these little details, they do make the building much nicer.

Screenshots of your builds (If you have any. Doesn't really matter, I'm just curious haha) http://imgur.com/a/Z4WXU#0 That's the building style I would be using on the server. The idea is to build houses like those in a plains biome. Then once all the houses are up, I would add in custom foliage to make my own jungle... Because building in a real jungle is a pain.

Any other information what you would like us to know or that we should know abut you?: Since I can't record YouTube videos, I want to take screenshots and upload them onto the Minecraft Forums to document my experiences on the server. Thanks for taking the time to read over all of this and consider me to be a part of Craftbound!

posted a message on Did desert wells become more common?
They were never that rare. they are about as common as desert temples

Really? I checked the wiki, and it said there's a 1/1000 chance of them spawning in any desert chunk

I have never seen a well in Minecraft before today. I have explored many deserts since they were added, but have never found one. Today, I found 2 wells within 50 blocks of each other in snapshot 14w32c. I thought this was very strange, considering how rare they were.

I thought minecraft worlds were (in-theory) infinite?

Nope. Go into creative and type "/tp (username) 29999999 64 29999999" (without the quotes). Then try to walk one block further out. You'll hit an invisible wall, and pre-1.8 the terrain gets really screwy

Considering a Minecraft world extends 30 million blocks from (0,0) in all directions, it is 60 million blocks wide. A block is 1 meter by 1 meter by 1 meter. So a Minecraft world is 60 million meters across. I put that into a distance converter, and it comes out to about 37,282 miles in each direction. To put that into perspective, that's the same size (down to the mile) as the inner Coma of the ISON comet. I have no idea what that means, but the article that mentioned the size of the comet said its inner coma is 4x the size of Earth. So a Minecraft world is 4x the size of Earth. So it takes place everywhere.

posted a message on Grass and leaves in diffrent biomes will be physically diffrent blocks obtainable with silk touch.
How would the border between two biomes work? As it is now, the shading allows for a slow transition from one biome to the next, but I don't see how that would be possible with individual blocks.

posted a message on I need a enchantment table translator
    Quote from Warpshard
I'm pretty sure the Standard Galactic Alphabet used by Enchanting tables can be changed by Resource packs. I seem to remember one of the big Resource packs having an alternative to books instead of the Galactic Alphabet.

Although, The Standard Galactic Alphabet is being outsourced in 1.8 with enchanting being overhauled, so it's not like you'll be using it for long.

Yes, but changing it with a resource pack will yield you random words with absolutely no correlation to certain enchants. From the MC wiki, here's a list of all the words it can give you. Three to five are chosen at random, then translated into the galactic alphabet.
the elder scrolls klaatu berata niktu xyzzy bless curse light darkness fire air earth water hot dry cold wet ignite snuff embiggen twist shorten stretch fiddle destroy imbue galvanize enchant free limited range of towards inside sphere cube self other ball mental physical grow shrink demon elemental spirit animal creature beast humanoid undead fresh stale

You probably have a real translator there. The words generated in the enchanting table are generated from a list of a random words that are translated into the galactic alphabet. There is absolutely no link between certain words and enchantments. You want to see the enchantments? Install a mod, or wiat until 1.8

I love roofed forests. The trees are really cool, the giant mushrooms are a cool feature, too. And the grass color is by far my favorite out of all the biomes.

I just plugged the seed into AMIDST. Assuming you're not on large biomes, the closest mushroom biome to spawn is at about -1000, 2000.

posted a message on ElyciumMC -- A vanilla white-listed server (For the players looking to be in a community)
    First Name: Jason

Age: 15 (I know you said 16+ but please keep reading and give me a chance.)

    IGN: nosaj4297

Skype (Don't need a mic) (Can PM): I'll PM you if accepted.

How do you think you will fit into this community and what can you bring?: I will fit in because I'm mature and friendly. I have a great sense of humor, but know when to be serious. I will bring an out-going guy who just wants to have fun with others in Minecraft. I enjoy helping others, whether it be building a nether hub, just digging a big hole, or giving new members a tour of the server.

What are your strong points in Minecraft and what do you mainly like to do?: Building! I love building. I'm decent at redstone, but I enjoy building more.

What is your past experience with server play like and with Minecraft in general?: I have played on a few other servers that sounded like yours, but all of them had either bad people that I didn't trust not to grief my builds, or an inactive community, to the point that I was by myself most of the time. I hope that ElysiumMC will be different from the rest of the servers I've played on. As far as Minecraft in general, I have played single-player since Beta 1.7.3, which if I recall correctly, was August of 2011. I have a lot of experience with the game, in everything from building to redstone to strip-mining, and everything in between.

How do you consider yourself a community player (Provide examples)?: As I mentioned in the fifth question, I really enjoy helping others. I would much rather help someone else with a project instead of moving thousands of blocks from spawn and becoming a hermit. Even if I can't help someone else with their project, I plan on building a shop at spawn for the community.

What does being in a community mean to you?: Being in a community means that I can trust all the other members of the server. It means that we will help each other, whether it be as simple as sleeping to make it day, or as complex as building a nether hub. It also means that we can just screw around together and have fun together!

Provide some background info about yourself: I'm about to start sophmore year of high school. Between school and video-games, I enjoy riding my bike, rock climbing, juggling, speed-solving rubik's cubes and other twisty puzzles, and rocket science! I'm in the rocketry club at my school, where we build and launch small rockets for a national competetion, as well as some side projects. Last year, my team placed 30th out of 104 teams!

Provide screenshots of past builds or creations/contraptions: this is the building style I'm planning on using on the server. http://imgur.com/a/Z4WXU#0

Thanks for taking the time to read my application! I can't wait to log on and get to work.
    o/
