It was added in 1.7. That's what I play.
Well, thank you to the Wiki for giving me misinformation.
The History section of the door page lists it as 1.8 in snapshot 14w02a, which was the first 1.8 snapshot.
EDIT: The Wiki is right.
I checked the referenced tweet and Jeb's tweet for the recipe giving you 3 doors instead of 1 has him specifically saying 1.8.

You're going to use a Let's Play as evidence? A Let's Play where people set very high goals and are determine to mine out an entire Desert for who knows what reason for a long period of time? A Let's Play where people make money off of to do extraordinary things to keep their audience entertained or else they'll lose dough? A Let's Play where the goal was set to one or two player's standards because that's what they wanted to do and it makes perfect sense to be applied to every player in Minecraft?
Because if you are, then that's definitely what I like to do in my free time.
Do I even need to question everything about this vague proof you have? Why did they mine it out? Did they even use the minerals they got out? I'm pretty sure all those minerals they got aren't even exhausted yet for whatever purpose they were doing it for. -

Return of the human mob and zombies attack it and turns into a regular zombie and you turn zombies to humans with a golden apple and weakness potion
Humans are going to have to do something really amazing if you're gonna waste a golden apple and weakness potion to turn a zombie into them, and since normal zombies are way more common than villager zombies, this can't really be anything too amazing. In other words, this would either be overpowered or a waste of materials. -

DevannB posted a message on Poll: Do you think that the Xbox 360, PS3, PSVita, and Wii U editions need an upgrade in world size?Posted in: MCWiiU: DiscussionThis is an open letter to any staff of Minecraft/Mojang/4J Studios who may end up seeing this. The console edition is being massively held behind by the world generation size. People have been clamoring for years now that it needs an upgrade; it just isn't enough.
So let's list some reasons as to why this proposed idea should be put into motion:
1. With the new content updates, it is extremely difficult - if not impossible - as I don't believe it's been done (or at least documented yet) - to generate a world that includes at least one of every single possible item.
I mean -everything-. Every biome, every structure, every undergound cave type, dungeon type, village, type, temples, woods - all of it. You don't have to worry about this in the current-gen consoles excluding Wii U, nor the PC version. Even the Pocket Edition has infinite worlds.
2. Some people enjoy exploration more than creation/staying put.
This is a big one. Some people sometimes want to leave the dwelling they've spent so long making, to go out and explore the beyond, but then be able to come back and reminisce/ nab some extra supplies they left for a rainy day. In all complete honesty, ONE Minecraft world is all anyone should ever need for their entire time playing the game, as the infinite generation could be used as a tool for starting fresh, without losing ANY progress, simply by moving far enough away, and getting lost in a new amazing world just off the path from your home.
3. Resources are very limited.
However, your mileage may vary for this one. Although a world over 800x800 blocks and at least 64 blocks deep should be plenty for one person to gather up enough resources for any extended amount of time, PEOPLE PLAY THIS GAME WITH THEIR FRIENDS, AND SOMETIMES IN LARGE GROUPS. There just is not enough world in one map for eight people to truly get into a real deep elongated playthrough, as eventually, everyone WILL run out of mine-able material. I personally have experienced fatigue while mining and searching for resources in a map with only three people regularly playing, because we had explored all the larger cave areas we could find, after scouring every inch of the map. Strip mining should never be forced upon the player, and this makes it more exhausting for people to collect and gather to make their large empires and cities lined with gold.
At the least, there should be even a SLIGHT upgrade to the map size, - even 1080x1080 just like the Xbox One/PS4's small option - anything. Just enough to spawn in at least one of everything. As it currently stands, there just isn't enough room, at all.
At the VERY VERY least, there should be an option for the player to be able to choose which biomes he or she would prefer to play on, without spoiling the layout of the map itself, this could even work similar to how customizing the Superflat World works.
As a longtime Minecraft supporter, owner/purchaser of three versions, and buying and gifting at least three OTHER versions, with plans to eventually get the Vita edition, I implore the staff of 4J to at the very least consider even the slightest world generation upgrade.
I have attached a poll, to see if any readers of this post in passing will voice their opinion as well.
Best regards, and hoping for the best outcome for all.

DevannB posted a message on Poll: Do you think that the Xbox 360, PS3, PSVita, and Wii U editions need an upgrade in world size?Posted in: MCWiiU: DiscussionActually, even WITH outdated and limited hardware, that isn't what is keeping these versions from having better worlds. I've done quite a bit of googling and searching and research on this subject, and there just isn't any clear-cut answer as to just why they can't give us better terrain options. Even a customizer like I said if they can't increase the size for whatever arbitrary reason. I'm sure bugfixes and content updates/catching the gameplay up to PC likely takes priority with development, but these basic square necessary features are long, long overdue. It was okay back when the game was still parallel to 1.0-1.6, but now it just isn't enough.

Swim down!
I just thought of something this game really needs while testing out
some of the new 1.10 features in a creative snapshot, but it would be useful for survival too.
Why can we not swim down?
We can hold space to swim up, and in creative we can fly to swim up a lot faster.
However, just try getting to the bottom at a decent pace.
You can't.
You naturally sink, but it is SOOO SLOW.
In creative, it is such a nuisance to try to get down there at that pace since flying goes pretty fast.
In survival, if you're trying to get into an ocean monument, it takes all your air just getting down to the entrance.
My suggestion is that, when you're in the water, holding crouch will make you swim down.
How will Steve get his diving certification if he can't swim down?
Alternately, maybe we just need a swim button that will move you through water in the direction you're facing.
Either way, Steve's inability to swim is a hinderance, especially if they ever actually
expanded the oceans from the blandness they are now.
With this and mind and discussion about it, the Sneak key is quite a feat that holds an action of holding the player down to the ground in some way. Would be useful as it is on land for being around edges/hiding your username, your diving idea, and maybe something to help with the Elytra landing situation that some people (strangely) have a problem with. -

Robofrogg posted a message on What we really want and need!Posted in: MCWiiU: DiscussionIt'd be sweet to drag and drop biomes into a world, or if you want, drag and drop structures or something. Drawing a biome could be cool too

So like spay painting?
