    bobbydglop :Ham: I saw the #1 factions server tag and thought that was just a way of gaining attention :P it still does gain attention, but it doesn't seem far from the truth.

    How much RP experience do you have? : I played on a small RP server in early Beta, and I thought I could get back into it.

    Character Name : Gustav_Wix, known as Gus

    Character Age: 44

    Character Nationality (Which nation does your character live in?) : New Scandinavia

    Character Personality: Generous and peaceful, but willing to take up His axe to defend what he sees as good.

    Job : Lumberjack

    Strengths : Cutting trees, combat using his axe.

    Weakness : Can be too trusting in people, will get carried away in battle easily.

    Religion : He belives in nothing but the land below his feet and the air that he breathes.

    Backstory : Born in the same cottage as the one he lives in now, Gustav Wix, son of his father, Erin Wix, has been working as a lumbejack for as long as he can remember. On an average day, he can be found felling trees by his small birch cottage or sleeping in said cottage cottage. Over the years, he has honed his skill in combat by fending off monsters with his axe. As a kid, he developed an attraction to cookies, and these will now come in handy for anyone looking to use gus as a mercenary.
    When he was 20, he took a ship to new scandinavia, hoping to make a living there. He did not expect the amount of evil monsters which dwelled in the new land, but he quickly learned to defend against them. His cottage is tucked away on a mountainside, from where is is only a short trek to the nearest forest, and a days walk to a jungle. Since his settlement in New Scandinavia, Gus has learned to mine and farm, but only does so to an extent which fulfills his own needs. He is welcoming to anyone coming to his cottage, but is generally suspicous of any armed, non-New Scandinavian.

    RP Example :
    Gustav is cutting trees in the forest.
    A knight of New Scandinavia approaches.
    "Who goes there" asks gustav
    "Just a kight of the Scandinavian colony, looking for evil to extinguish"
    "No evil here, and if it ever comes, I won't be needing help fending it off"
    "very well then, good day"

    Miscellaneous Notes:
    Does the server have an out of context chat line or are we allowed to use another program like skype to talk out of context?
    Also, as a player, I've layed on mostly PvP servers recently, where would sit around cutting would or mining to music when there was no PvP to be had. I consider myself to be a decent PvPer and would like if an out of context note would be made to invit me to any fighting :).
    I spell checked twice, but I expect that there are more errors here, so I apologize for that.

    the water idea would be good, but it should just contribute to the food bar like any other food. I hated the food bar as it changed pvp, and I dont need a water bar.

    have you even been in an all out fight during 1.7? Usually, the person with the most food/best food wins unless everyone is a noob and doesnt use food. I know for a fact that on my primary server, gruninger pvp, I generally won thanks to fast eating, and the skill there involves hitting the right key to switch back and forth as well as timing it between clicks. On that server, the best players were the ones who ate fast, and others, including me, considered it "skill" I still consider strategy anything concerning planning. It takes strategy to plan out when to switch from weapon to food, and skill to do it at that time. In the same sense, it takes strategy and planning to get away from you opponent, but, if you are referring to eating in 1.8, it takes skill to see when they are too close or when you finished eating. And for some of the other replies saying it is not skill to eat as much food as you can, try constantly left clicking, switching to another slot, right clicking, and switching back. It takes practice to choose the right slots.

    I see skill and strategy as slkill as slighly distinguished. It takes skill to change from weapon to food, eat, and change back within one tick and strategy to figure out when to eat and who to attack for example.

    Thats more or less what I mean. food can take as long as it wants to be eaten. as long as I can drink soup and potions in one gulp and have them heal my heal instantly.

    Before now, minecraft PVP was an eating contest. Now, it is an actual battle. You can't just charge in, porkchop in hand. You need to actually need to time critical hits, blocking, and know when to charge or retreat. It is a far better system now, and I prefer it greatly over the previous system.


    I am a PvP;er, and I always thought that the old system was horribly broken.



    Also, use health potions to instant heal. Make it into a splash potion if you want it to be instant.

    I understand that 1.8 has been good for pvp in many other aspects, but I see no reason to take away instant eating/healing functionality to accommodate simple pvpers such as myself.

    Well,seems possible?
    And guess what,the update itself didn't only "strip" your beloved slapping porkchops on wounds,it added a feature to pvp too.
    You got chargable arrows!It adds skill to using a bow,and it adds to the hunger bar pvp part of the update

    Instead of eating and attacking with the sword,now you have to make distance and kill your opponents with bows until your health regenerates.


    When you add it up,it makes sense.

    You see: PVP - Fast eating = No skill

    it seems most if not all of these replies are not from people who pvped during 1.7 or earlier. People were considered "good" or "bad" at pvp depending how fast they could switch from weapon to food, eat, and switch back. This did require skill, and if you are happy with the idea of slower healing, I believe you would be happy with a game like world of warcraft. Im pretty sure they try to make things more realistic.

    What it is: (PVP-Fast eating)+Healing potions,chargable arrows and mid air attack crits= Lots of skill

    If you would have looked at the bright side of the update,you would of seen that PVP is still ok.
