Imagine you are in the big old boring ocean. You look down and see this huge sink hole/ravine/giant hole of darkness. You go down to explore it. A massive underwater cave system is before you. You think you are safe from the creatures of the earth such as the creeper, but little do you know that there is an even more dangerous mob waiting.
Hello, my suggestion for the ocean biome (which is currently the most empty biome in the history of minecraft) is underwater cave systems.
You may question, how will you explore these huge unknown cracks in the ocean? Well, with some scuba gear.
Simply a pumpkin in the middle of a crafting table then some glass around it, then 1 iron ingot at the bottom.
The abyss will be randomly generated open cave systems in the ocean biomes. They will be just like regular caves, just underwater. The challenge here is that you cannot use torches, since they won't last underwater. It will also be darker, and harder to mine(since you are underwater.) Now, why would you mine underwater? Why not just mine above ground? To balance it out, I suggest adding higher spawn rate for ores,some chests, and a new mob. (maybe some other underwater content such as corals/seaweed?)
The new mob will be a leviathan. A mob around the size of 4 ghasts. it will have a rare chance to spawn in the regular ocean, and a tad higher chance to spawn in the caves. It's attack is basically trying to eat you. IT can attack boats and other mobs. It will drop random item from a list:
Iron sword(From it's last victims)
Some gold nuggets(Alternative way of getting nuggets)
A load of EXP
And other possible drops.
This suggestion could go well with the suggestion for shipwrecks. Imagine a giant leviathan guarding the ship's treasures in a giant circular abyss under water. An epic battle.

not everything has to be realistic i mean seriously we have alot of unrealistic stuff and i for once hate mining slow since i build instead of using creative since that ruins the fun.
Besides diamonds are a bit difficult to get and enchantments are very pricy for mining speed boost sin general so i'm pretty sure its good as it is.

well its kinda frustrating using a 1.8 compadable mcedit when its 1.0.0

and the extra would be the ozone layer which is much related to the skylands (128-255) then space (255-???) PRoblem?

Spacial Pickaxe which can mine everything like diamond but faster.
Spacial Sword: does 4 hearts in damaged and can slow enemies. (15% slower)
Spacial Axe:Same thing as diamond axe but with splash damage.(Around the target)
Spacial Shovel:mines things faster.
Meteor armor: Has 20% more durability than diamond armor and it makes Ur health regenerate even when to hungry to regenerate.
Fire Fists:same damage as fists but ignites and has increased knock back.
