The model hasn't really taken off for us but the support from the Kickstarter gives us hope Right now the game can pay for its own servers and art but doesn't have any money leftover for us to live on. I am hoping with some new stuff coming with the Kickstarter that will change
And for everyone who sees this and was here about 7 months ago when I was talking with people on here, join in on the conversation! The game has changed tons
I am Blake Burns, co-founder of BlankMediaGames and co-creator of the semi-popular indie game Town of Salem, currently sitting at a quarter million registered users. I love to hear feedback from people who just pick up the game so that is why I am posting here We just got our second Kickstarter funded to bring the game to Steam and mobile so I wanted to hear what people who aren't fans of the game think about things. The game is currently in live Beta and can be played through the browser and is currently rated the Best Indie game on Gamejolt.
Game Overview:
- Multiplayer flash game (up to 15 people per game)
- Free to play
- Browser based (PC/Mac only)
- No overhead to get in and start playing.
- Mafia/Werewolf style of gameplay
Town of Salem is all about deception and convincing others you aren't the bad guy. It is all about mind games and understanding the human psyche to get an edge over the other players in the game. It is a digital adaption of the party game Mafia (or Werewolf if you've played that one) set in the witch trial era in an alternate universe Salem, MA.
If you are a good guy, stay alive and find the murderers before you die. If you are a bad guy, lie and stay under the radar until you are the last one standing.
It has been a wild ride. We are now in the last 24 hours of the Kickstarter with hope of reaching even more stretch goals.
Meg Turney was nice enough to give us consent to sell her likeness in the shop so even if we don't hit the $20k stretch goal, you will be able to get a character based off of her
We will be doing an Ask Me Anything (AMA) at 6pm CST today (03/20) and will be streaming it live via twitch.tv. We will also upload it to youtube afterward.
Thanks video! We are now 103% funded! We will be doing a lot of awesome stuff in the coming weeks, including our video with Meg Turney and a friends list/lobby rework so you can play with your friends The Kickstarter ends in 60 hours and we have some pretty sweet stretch goals too.
We just hit 92% funded with 4 days left. We are working on a complete front end UI rework that should be pretty awesome for everyone If you haven't tried the game, try it out and let me know what you think of it. I am always interested in hearing the perspective of new players.
Thanks I do too. We are trying to hit 80% by 10am CST 03/14 and if we do we will be giving out our soundtrack to our backers as an extra reward. Tell your friends about us, it would help a ton.
We have had an awesome week so far. We got discovered by some pretty big YouTubers including Minx and we pushed our new login system which now has 7000 registrations. In fact, we have gotten so big that Meg Turney (cosplayer, host at SourceFed) started playing our game. She is raving about it on her twitter and has said SourceFedNERD will be covering it in an upcoming indie-cent gaming video.
