    The half block makes it impossible to fall in, while still allowing things to be tossed over it. This garbage receptacle is the eventual home of nearly all the flint I find.

    It seems to me as though whenever a new song starts, it actually plays localized. Of course, the first time a song starts when you load is wherever you are, and most people save/load in or around their base of operations. Therefore the first song plays from that area. If you wander off, when the song finishes and a new one starts, it'll start from where you are then, and fade as you get farther away from that area.

    I don't think it'll be a lasting feature, but more of a test of localized sounds/music. This could very well lead to the sound of waves and the ocean when you're near... Well, the ocean, and other similar environmental sounds.

    Yeah, I think the general consensus at the moment for both editors is "Don't add chests!" From what I've been reading, it seems like chests have some extra data that the game attaches to them that the editors don't add, thus causing the game to spaz out when it encounters these added chests. So if you've really gotta add chests, just add some wood to mine ingame, and craft a chest. Not too hard.

    Eh, Omen isn't terribly complicated. I do like NBTForge, though, for it's speed, and the fact that, at the moment, it doesn't turn all the chests in the map into crash traps waiting to happen :smile.gif:

    I've actually got two different waste disposal areas. One old one that's not quite usable anymore that used lava to burn it all away, and a new one that's just a hole, basically. Though they both look better than "Just a hole" :smile.gif:

    Wait wait wait... Lemme get this straight... So you're saying you found a big cave with lots of ore in it... And now you want everyone else to mine it for you?

    You do realize that /indev/ maps aren't networked, right? And that if multiple people would actually do that, they wouldn't be able to work together, right? And that if you just did it yourself, mining the ore on YOUR map, then you would've had it and been done with it at most a couple hours after you made your first post, instead of you still waiting for someone else to do the work for you, right?

    I get the feeling you're not going to be too fun of a person to play with when multiplayer hits...

    It happens rather frequently, actually. The spawn box is generated around wherever the player spawn is for that map, regardless of obstructions. Almost every map I've generated has had at least part of one tree attached to the spawn box, sometimes multiple trees.

    Aright everybodys, I've tried everything I know in order to get map screenies, but it isn't working. I always get one of three outcomes:
    1) Java heap overflow. No picture.
    2) Unrendered tiles. The map is mostly grey, save a small portion of the island. Just weird.
    3) Portions of the map are invisible, meaning you can see underground lava flows and such. Not pretty.

    If anyone can take map shots of HUGE levels that look nice without any graphical glitches, pm me if you're interested in compiling the island shots as this project moves along.


    At the moment, the full map screenshot feature is bugged. It won't work for anyone, unfortunately. Unless of course it gets fixed tomorrow or something.

    Perhaps try building a farm on a non-flatgrass map next time?

    Oh, and theoretically, it would actually be possible to create leaf barriers like that without editting. It'd just take a LOT of digging, a LOT of luck with tree growing, a LOT of pruning, and a LOT of filling back in. In other words, probably more work than it's worth.

    This is my current farm:


    It's small, I know. However, this area wasn't originally meant as a farm. It was actually originally meant to be a small orchard/garden area in my underground fortress, as can be seen here:


    I'm a decent ways underground with this, and it's completely covered, so at least it's mostly sheep/pig proof. I also have a little experiment off growing by the secret back entrance of my fort, as well. It'll be interesting to see how that goes.

    Oh, and yes, this was all made by hand. No NBTForge for me. Took forever and a half to mine this out, and several accidents with TNT.

    I second this notion. The sky/cloud/fog colors and brightness, at least. Chests may be more difficult, though...
