Built bridges. Underwater bases. Villages. And neighborhood. Ive helped build skyscapers, enormous caves. Assisted in one of the very few dwarf cities.(awesome btw) Floating spheres and islands. And multiple small cities. I usually do my work underground but like a lot of people, fresh air is good now and then. Let your mind wander a bit. Ideas will come. Except right now. I'm having creators block.

blastyb posted a message on Build Journal: Witch Farm/ Overworld Enderman farm combinedPosted in: Survival ModeThank You for replying.
I was planning on using something like the Ender Ender, until I read your post. Please read this part again:
Your question set off a train of thought though.
What if I build the Enderman farm over the Witch hut?
As I understand it, The Witch hut spawning box was increased to be 6 blocks high. Only witches will spawn in that 6 block high space. That leaves the air above it open to all mobs. The 6 block high space is important though. Modern witch farm designs, like the one in the video, use 3 floors, 2 blocks high. Too small for an Enderman to fit. With the new bounding box, a farm could be built with 2 floors, 3 blocks high. If I use the shifting floor design used in the video, building above the witch farm, with three blocks between each level, the whole witch farm concept can be built to spawn other mobs. The 3 block space would allow Endermen to spawn over the witch farm. When they, or any other mob spawns, they just fall through the floor, into and through the witch farm. It's simple in concept. The only problem I see is the fact that some Endermen teleport immediately after landing from a fall. Thinking about it, this could be overcome by surrounding the farm in a curtain of water and making sure there are no other 3 block high spaces inside the water curtain. Of course I would have to put water on the roof, and make sure the water curtain went down far enough.
Do you understand. If I use the current system of a shifting floor spawner, like the one in the video, and build it directly over top of the witch hut, I should be able to let the Endermen fall through the whole contraption, from their spawning floors, through the witch farm, and to the Enderman's eventual death.
When I first thought about it, I thought I would need to reduce the number of floors in the witch farm from 3 to 2, to accommodate the Endermens' 3 block height. Now I wonder if removing a floor is even necessary. With a moving floor design, what would happen to an Enderman that lands on a floor that is 2 blocks high? I don't know.
What I may do is split the world off. Build one with Etho's Ender Ender, and one with the moving floor concept. It'll be alot of work, but I've got plenty of time, and I am in no hurry to get anywhere.
Oh, and I know it will reduce the witch's spawning rates. I expect that. Personally, if I'm going to spend the time building and working a mob farm, I'd really rather get more then one mob type anyway. That's why I built my Overworld Supermarket as I did. With it I get the drops from Guardians as well as gold, gunpowder, bones, etc.
I did the same thing with my first Overworld gold farm. I get not only gold, but also all regular hostile mob drops, and I added an Endermen farm outside. The Endermen rates are low, but I built it as a lark, to see if I could do it.
I think mob grinders that focus on one mob type are boring to build and boring to run (work on) over time.

I'm not that good at building, so this was a first for me. Is it at least decent? I'm talking about the one with leaves on it.

Gillymoth posted a message on How do I build better?Posted in: Creative ModeEvery time you make something you will learn things that carry over into the next build. It may look better or just be easier to do. I've built enough domes that I can build them in an optimal way, and they no longer have to be circular in shape. The floorplan was designed in Paint, which is also an unnecessary step having built enough to plan things out efficiently in game.
If large scale building is too epic to know where to start, then start small and work your way up to it. Knowing what you want is the first step, just keep building towards it and you will get there.

Hidiety posted a message on How do I build better?Posted in: Creative ModeThere are A LOT of things on YouTube that are helpful. But there are some of us who just don't have that type of personality. I myself am a more technical person but I am able to apply that to my building. The result is very symmetrical buildings that look out of place much of the time. Another thing is that when you make something you will tend to be more critical of it than your friends may think of it. We form this epic picture in our minds of what we think it will look like and when all we can do is get close to that image its frustrating. Now in saying this most people do have an imagination, your screenies show that you are capable of doing creative, detailed builds. You just need to find your muse, figure out what inspires you to build like that pic then utilize it. It's not an easy task, it takes a lot of time but if you are patient and determined you can push through what ever it is that is holding you back.

Sometimes animals don't spawn, or you don't feel like hunting for an hour. Because "Early game" is wooden tools/fist.
I bet when you started you always starved. And you're going to reply "nope, i never starved"

Are you looking for ideas because you don't know what do build? Don't worry, I am too. That's why I'm creating this thread. Feel free to post your ideas and possibly even things that you've built. Others that look at this thread will see your ideas and become inspired, maybe even adding their own ideas to the thread. Anyway, I think you get it by now. To start the thread off, here are some ideas for you guys:
- Roller Coaster
- Castle
- Grand Library
- Bridge
- Underwater Temple
- Nether Fortress
- Underwater Base
- Village
- Neighborhood
- Prison
Like I said, feel free to add your own ideas. Any suggestions are welcome.

I know I haven't posted, but I have been looking at this thread often. AMAZING job Blastyb! I would never have the time/patience to do this. There is so many pictures that my computer almost shut down trying to load all of them! Anyway, great job!

I didn't watch the video yet, but I think that that will help me see your world more, and just really understand it.
Anyway, I would love for you to do a survival "Let's Play" series. I'm actually thinking of starting a survival journal thread on the forum!

How about trying to create a community... It could be any style you want, for example, medieval. You can create a neighborhood, a dock, a mini-city, a little town, and some other buildings. Once you start doing this, you get ideas very fast on what you want to build next, so it will last a long time, and it will last even longer if the builds are big and complex.
You might also want to create a roller coaster. (probably not in the same project, but maybe if you want to)
1
Yes, your details are getting a lot better! That dock looks just like it was meant to be there, and it is built into the land perfectly! Awesome job!
1
Yeah. I didn't see that, but that's cool! It definitely looks fine, I think it probably looks better than it would have otherwise, because although you want flat land, you never want your world completely flat, and like, too perfect.
1
This world is great! I agree, that it may need a little bit of work, but it is definitely very good. I like the desert temple a lot, and the inside looks good as well. Could you post a picture of the view from the outside of the desert temple, with all of the things in it?

Silveroug2, that's funny. I enjoy making castles too.
bambamacilious, thanks for the idea! I will most likely incorporate that into the world with all of the suggestions.

That's great! I can build other things, but not something like that! That's really good! How long do you think it took you to build that?
