This is so dumb. Bats don't do any damage, and if you managed to hold enough leashes to enough bats while still keeping a weapon equipped, how could you attack anybody without killing your stupid hoard of stupid bats?
Very simple and very clever. You elect a sacrificial villager, maybe one who offers a set of shears for 3 emeralds, and make a big old monument out of the zombie trap.
Oceans are common and interminable in my big biome worlds, and giving users a reason to make a boat and go out on the flat seas would be neat. They'd be like jungle/desert temples, except for the ocean. One or two chests, great source of gold, diamond, emerald, weapons, armor, and bones, but they'd be deadly to get to until you stocked up on water breathing potions. That would also finally give me a reason to brew potions. Make one of the ingredients shark teeth or squid tentacle or ink sac or something.
Actually, as long as minecraft isn't using up all of the ram you have allocated to it, this doesn't really make a difference. If you have 1 GB of ram allocated to it, and it is using up 100% of that, then this will help. However, if you have like 2 GB of ram allocated to it and it is only using up like 50% of that, you could allocate 1000000000000000 GB more ram and it wouldn't change a thing. The problem is that the new minecraft launcher tries to launch with integrated graphics, which is a built in graphics processor that comes with the i7 and it sucks. He needs to launch his minecraft with his other graphics processor.
I have a dedicated GPU, and even with Minecraft using only half the default 1G allocated to it, it lags and chunks load slowly. It never made sense to me why it would get choppy if it was using half the memory it had available, but upping to 2 completely cured the problem and upped my FPS from about 15 or 20 to 60.
Allocate more memory in the launcher. Click "EDIT PROFILE" and in the last space for JMV Arguments, type "-Xmx2G" with no quotation marks.
If you have 6 or 8 gigs of RAM, feel free to use -Xmx3G. And dang, OP, you could allocate 8G and run at like a bajillion FPS (slight exaggeration, probably).
Villager voices. They are annoying to no end, and I know I could just go into the resources and move the files, but ... actually, nevermind, I'm fine with that.
I don't like the new golden apple formula, especially now that they actually have a function. I understand the nugget-based formula was too easy, but eight gold ingots for one freaking apple? Cut it to 4 or 6 and I'd be happy.
I don't like that dyed clay isn't the color it says it is. Blue clay? No man, that's mauve clay. Black clay? Nope, brown. White? Pinkish. Dyed clay would be really nice as decorating blocks if you could actually dye them the color you want.
I had thought that I wished saddles and horse armor were craftable, but I've found loads of saddles and horse armor (2 iron, 2 gold, 3 diamond) with a modicum of searching for surface dungeons and temples in my desert. They're almost too common, and I now wish they were craftable and not found in chests so commonly.
I just expanded my stables to make room for new foals and fillies. I wish I could train them to go into specific stalls at night.
The loft is for hay bale storage, which I made before realizing that I can't destroy hay bales (oops!). The double-doors enclose a small tack room with double-doors on the other side. In that room is a small chest for saddles, leads, golden apples, and horse armor. The blocks above the doors are inverted stairs, which creates a gap large enough to not suffocate me as I ride a horse through them.
Maybe you could move the formula onto a crafting table, with a perimeter of 8 cobblestone/stone blocks around 1 mossy stone/stone block returning 9 mossy stone/stone blocks.

I actually love the whole of the update, though.

Ironically, they swim better in grass than they do in water.
