Millénaire 7.0 open beta! Millénaire 7.0 introduces two great new features: a reworked Norman culture and the construction of a massive, end-game marvel: Notre Dame of the New World! Head to the beta page for all the details and the download link.
Millénaire 6.2 for Minecraft 1.12 available!
Millénaire is now officially updated to 1.12.2. Download the new version on www.millenaire.org!
Millénaire is a single- and multi-player mod for Minecraft. It aims to fill the "emptyness" of single-player worlds by adding NPC villages to it, with loose 11th-century Norman, North Indian and Mayans themes and additional cultures planned.
Villages are populated with men, women and children of various kinds, who perform tasks such as trading with the player, expending current buildings or improving existing ones, cultivating crops such as wheat in Norman villages and rice in Indian ones, crafting tools and powerful amulets, etc. As the village expends, the number of villagers increases as couples have children who grow up into new adults.
Help villages grow by trading with them and be rewarded with unique items such as Normand and Indian food or statues and tapestries to decorate your house with. And if they start liking you enough, they might even build you a house of your own.
Millénaire is available in the following languages: French, English, German, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Czech, Swedish, Dutch, Portuguese, Slovenian, Hungarian, Chinese, Arab, Estonian, Norwegian, Ukrainian (more coming!)

Making new cultures
Since Millénaire 1.4, the bulk of a new culture can be made without code (not just buildings and village types like before, but new NPCs as well). As such I'm interested in player-made cultures to integrate in the main game, provided they fit the general theme of Millénaire of "real" cultures from around the 11th century. Players interested in producing one for Millénaire should PM-me about it. If we agree on the idea, I'll provide support in the form of help on how to mod Millénaire and in the form of whatever new code might be needed (for new items, blocks or good productions), though likely not with the buildings and NPCs themselves. I reserve the right to change anything I might not like in a culture I'm shipping with the mod itself, but in practice I intend to leave as much of a free hand as possible to culture designers.Contribution welcome, it helps make Millénaire a rich game!
See what they are doing and what they need in the villages' centres.
- There is a lot of content to fill up in the Millénaire Wiki, feel free to help: http://millenaire.org/wiki/
- Female and children sounds
- It would be very useful if people who have been playing for a while could post detailed accounts of how they play Millénaire, what they like/don't like, what their goals are when playing, etc. I need more comprehensive feedback, not just small reactions to individual features.
- New lone buildings: the more different kind of lone buildings (or variations of the same kind), the better. People wanting to do lone buildings in the same style as the existing ones are welcomed. You can post your creation in the thread, preferably with a screenshot. I'll add those I think fit in Millénaire.

Magic Wand Mod
The mod has been renamed to Crafting Assistant and Moved here.
You are in the desert, it is night now, there're a lot of monsters, you haven't got food but you have some cobblestone and rotten flesh.
With this mod, you can make a bed with your magic wand and cobblestone. Also you can make some porkchop with wand and rotten flesh!
The mod adds two types of wand: magic wand, super wand.
Super wand is very expensive, but more useful, than magic wand.ex. Magic Wand + Wheat + Wheat = Bread. Super Wand + Wheat = bread.
All crafting recipes are in the recipes spoiler.
Recipes:how to craft wands:
First, you need to craft Magic Crystal:
Then, craft Magic Wand: Magic Crystal at the top right corner, sticks in the middle and at the left bottom corner.
Super wand is crafting the same way, but you need a nether star instead of magic crystal!
What You can craft with magic wand:
Bread - wheat, wheat
Pumpkin Pie - pumpkin, sugar
Sugar x2 - sugar cane
Raw Porkchop - rotten flesh
Map - paper
Bucket - iron ingot, iron ingot

For minecraft 1.8 and above: http://adf.ly/1FuqyK and http://adf.ly/1FurEf
For now, there are no F&MF or casual versions of SC for 1.8+.
They will likely be brought back sometime in the distant future.
Special thanks to echonite for helping out with this!
The best 1.7 versions:
Default Strongestcraft: http://adf.ly/qB1Us and http://adf.ly/qB1fY
Strongestcraft F&MF: http://adf.ly/qB1Wo and http://adf.ly/qB1gJ
"F&MF" stands for "(Nether) Fortress and Mycelium Finder." It makes nether fortresses and mycelium islands/blocks MUCH easier to spot from a distance, but since it makes them completely solid, you aren't able to see through them once you reach them.
Strongestcraft Casual: http://adf.ly/qB1b3 and http://adf.ly/qB1gn
The casual version makes dirt, grass, stone and sand completely solid and normal. Great for first time users, or when you're in an area with plenty of holes or ravines in the ground.

"Will you make your resource pack capable of seeing things like diamonds that are completely surrounded by stone?"
That isn't possible for me to do. That would involve editing lines of code, and that would make this a mod, not a resource pack. For most of the same reasons I plan on never making this resource pack require something like ModLoader, I also plan on never making Strongestcraft into an x-ray mod, or a separate x-ray mod to accompany it.
"Can you make it so the game shows lava/water blocks when you're underneath them/at their sides?"
Unfortunately, no; tying in with the above, that would involve modifying lines of code. It's impossible for me to make my resource pack reveal lava/water from the sides and underneath if those sides aren't in direct contact with air. Fortunately, however, you should be able to tell that lava is there due to how the area is lit up, not to mention that lava and water are impossible to miss as you're descending from the surface to the caverns below you since you'll be able to see them from the top. For more information on this, please read the lava safety guide in the first post of this thread.
"Why don't you keep all the ore's original textures or just change them all to be solid colored blocks?"
Early testing with keeping all the textures the same showed that 95-100% of people quickly became frustrated using this pack after mining great distances to reach what they thought were diamonds, only for it to be something they didn't need like coal, iron or redstone again and again and again. By changing the textures so that they're all different, they can be individually identified in pitch black areas, which is where you'll see around 95% of the ores underground: in pitch black areas where you can't see what color they are. The way ores appear now is about as efficient as it gets.
"I'm not sure how to install the resource pack!"
Don't worry, it's easy! All you have to do is:
1: Go to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\resourcepacks in Windows 7/8/Vista, or C:\document and settings\[Your Name]\Application Data\.minecraft\resourcepacks in Windows XP.
2: Cut this entire .zip folder to the resourcepacks folder under .minecraft. As of 1.6+, DO extract the files! Again: you ARE supposed to remove the files from this .zip folder you download from this page, as of Minecraft 1.6 and above! Cut the ENTIRE FOLDER and paste it into the above location.
3: Close the folder, start up the game, log in.
4: Under "Mods and Resource Packs," select this resource pack, then click "Done."
"Sadly, I own a Mac! What do I do?"
Follow the steps listed here after downloading the resource pack you want. Alternatively, here are different instructions from another mac owner!
[quote="dbizzzle"]What you have to do is compress all the items inside the folder, not the folder itself, so navigate to the Strongestcraft folder but DON'T zip it, go into it and zip all of the items inside it. To do this, just highlight all the files and folders inside it, right click any of them and click "Compress 29 items" (I think that's how many, but if not it's close.) Finally, just put that zipped folder into the "resourcepacks" folder in your minecraft folder, hope I could help.
"I cut and pasted the contents of the folder to the "resourcepacks" folder. Why isn't it showing up under Mods and Resource Packs after I start the game?"
You may not have done it properly - if there are two main folders *inside* the folder you placed inside your resourcepacks folders, and they're not showing up: right click them, cut them from that location and move them up 1 folder.
Picture 1. So, you just found a diamond deep underground and you're ready to mine it, huh? Well, hold on- it's on the other side of a wall, right? One that no one's broken through before? Then... Why is it lit up, as if someone's placed a torch in there? There aren't any torches in there... Oh well, let's not stop to think about what could be giving off light- let's just mine through the wall and run straight toward that diamond!
Picture 2. Or we could take the time to look at things from a different perspective. Literally. Well, would you look at that! No wonder that diamond was lit up and colored instead of shrouded in darkness! There's lava all around it! Let's look at another example of this.
Picture 3. This is the same situation, just on a larger scale. Yes, there's really lava all throughout that chamber from the floor to the ceiling. In the center-right of the picture, you can even see multiple lava animations where embers shoot out and fall back in, leaving a smoke trail behind them. It might be difficult to tell from this picture, but since it's animated in-game, it's impossible to miss if you're paying attention.
Picture 4. Caves filled to the brim with lava are very, VERY common when you're deep underground, as seen here. This is the average amount of lava that's beneath you at most times.
Picture 1. In this picture, if you look closely, you can see three dungeons. Because of the way the mossy cobblestone is lit up and green, there are two possibilities. Either the interior of the dungeon is being lit up by natural light- like lava- or it's being lit up by unnatural light- like torches that players have placed inside it. You can see torches in two of them and based on the proximity of the third to the other two, the proximity of the third to the spawn point on this multiplayer map and how rare it is for a dungeon to form in direct contact with lava, it's safe to assume that all three have been ransacked. Remember: If it's diamonds or mossy cobblestone, if it's lit up and colored, it's a trap. In the case of diamonds, there's lava nearby, likely all around it. In the case of mossy cobblestone, someone's beaten you to the dungeon and likely already taken the items from the chests.
Picture 2. This is how dungeons will appear when they're undiscovered. The one on the right is easy enough to notice at a glance, but can you see the one on the right, hidden behind a cave system from where the player is standing? Not only is it hidden behind that branch of a cave, it's hidden behind some flowing water, too, obscuring it a little more. Remember, it's often as helpful as it is important to try and look at things from different angles, both literally and figuratively.

Apr 1, 2012Galactic_Muffin posted a message on Colored Glass and Colored Light! (originally Just the 'Colored Glass!' topic but Mojang added our idea! :D Congrats everyone!)NEWS:------------------------------------------------------------------------------Posted in: Suggestions
HUGE NEWS!it's been a year and a half of supporting and discussing this suggestion, it no longer is a suggestion that i can claim as mine for it is an idea that was molded and cared for by so many people, this suggestion is an idea that belongs to the community and because of your help for the past year and a half, we have finally made a breakthrough...
Guys, WE DID IT!
Mojang officially released a screenshot (https://mojang.com/2...napshot-13w41a/) showing colored glass implemented and fixes on the transparency issues they were having before. I can say with confidence that if it weren't for all your support for this topic, there's a good chance that colred glass wouldnt have even been included in this snapshot. For that you guys can be proud to be apart of something big, something that could change the way Minecraft feels forever. Thank you for all your support! And thank you Mojang for putting up with us and taking the time to implement our suggestion! :3Topic:---------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, its not over yet, with the addition of colored glass, there is so much more we can do with it. Adding colored glass could be the beginning of big additions such as colored light in the future; So i will be changing the title of this topic to Colored Light!
Due to this topics' popularity I want this topic to act as an outlet for the communities' ideas and opinions on the topic of colored glass and its implementations in the future. So everyone, let us move on to the next step of our suggestion topic and help make a difference!
"So, I was mining today and stumbled upon beautiful natural glowing crystals in an underground ravine!"
"...Then I investigated a red glow I could see creeping through a tunnel shaft and found myself in the middle of a zombie hive! o__O"
Well, those are some of the things we could be saying if colored glass and colored light were added to MC!
(images above are not real screenshots. They were Photoshopped by me to show what MC could be like if this topic's proposals were implemented)
[NOTE]Colored light and glass is something I believe all minecrafters should be able to enjoy with each other without the midleman or knowledge of mod installing. So for that reason, this suggestion is directed towards vanilla. We do however welcome mods here since it's said that "Colored light isn't possible." -_^
Here is how it could work:
Color Glass Blocks & Changing The Color of Light
Colored Glass and Colored Light are features I have wanted to see in Minecraft for some time. I wanted to see these features implemented so bad that I have come up with some ways it could be used in the game; it would greatly increase building potential and the ability for a player to customize an atmosphere by modifying the color of light. Based on my knowledge working in the game industry as an indiegame digital artist, I know that the impact something like colored glass and light would have on minecraft would be more important than most people know. In fact, it may even be safe to say that even Mojang underestimates the aesthetic importance of colored light and being able to manipulate it.
Here is a little diagram that briefly explains my proposition:
Here is a colored light mod that CptSpaceToster in a video spotlight! check it out! (ehem you too mojang -_^) colored light IS possible and it IS necessary this video shows that:
Here is a different crafting recipe that was originally suggested by ChadGarion25. It is fantastic and gives cauldrons an actual use.
Tell me what you guys think

Cool Ideas by you guys -_^:
Quote from ChadGarion25
Redo how dyes are handled all together by giving cauldrons a purpose; making dye into a liquid form
- Cauldrons containing water can be right clicked with powdered dye to color the water (a tint of water won't require new block types)
- 3 objects can be dyed by right clicking the cauldron of dye whilst holding them. In this case, wool blocks, glass blocks, and glass panes (you can still take stained glass blocks of the same color and craft panes)
Here are some images that better explain the proccess:
Quote from neraphim
If i were to make any suggestions, i would recommend a simple refraction system. Like redstone only carries current 13 blocks or so, the glass panels could, if encased in non-opaque blocks, carry the light further than it would normally travel (like optic fibers). Additionally i would suggest colored redstone lamps, so that the color could be turned on and of at the switch of a button.
I have received a lot of comments about glass blocks and changing light color causing too much lag or requiring an entire overhaul of the light engine MC currently has implemented. What people don’t fully understand is how MC lights work and where in-game lag actually comes from in videogames. I can't say I completely understand how exactly the MC lighting engine works as I have not seen the code, however it is briefly explained here: http://www.minecraft....net/wiki/Light if you have any better knowledge or sources that explains these points better, feel free to critique my points and share your insight on the topic.
"Why did you label the topic as 'original'? This isn't the first colored glass topic, you know..."
You are correct, this is not the first topic on colored glass, nor am I saying it is. The 'Original' tag in the title is referring to this topic and it's contents specifically. On several occasions, I came across my topic copied directly into Redit and other online blogs; without any sort of credit to the images and content. As the images in this topic were created from scratch by me, copying this topic would be considered art theft.
So to answer your question, the Colored Glass! topic is labeled as original because it is, the original.
Is it possible to change the color of the light?
Yes. Difficult, but possible. It used to be quite easy to light blocks with individual colors in early versions of Minecraft, but with the current light system this is no longer the case. It would require additions to the light system, the renderer, the map file format, and the network protocol. (A technical proposal can be found here, behind the cut.)
(question aswered by Nocte)
Will it cause lag?
Yes, unfortunately the addition of colored light will lower your frame rate. How much? This is hard to predict until someone actually tries it on a variety of hardware, but there's no reason to believe it will be anything drastic. It will also have an impact on memory use -- 64 KB per unpacked chunk to be precise. And of course the color information will have to go over the network somehow. If necessary, it would be possible to add an option to simply ignore the color information, and keep the current system where all block lights have the same yellowish color.
(question aswered by Nocte)
"Are there any Mods with Colored glass or colored light?":
Yes, there are some mods for colored glass and there are older mods that have colored light implemented into MC. Here are just a few of these projects:
• Kovu, a follower of this topic has been working on a colored light prototype. wheather he is doing it with the current minecraft engine or not is unclear but if it is, this proves that colored light is indeed possible with the current lighting engine. it may just need some performance updates. -_^
Discussion found here:
• Nocte, one of the followers of this topic is very knowledgeable of what is going on behind all the gears and pendulums of Minecraft and has been working on this project. He may even tackle colored light. -_^
• CptSpaceToaster, one of the followers of this topic is currently working on a colored glass mod inspired by this topic and he is making big progress on colored light; proving that it is Indeed possible to do. You can watch his progress on his colored glass and light mod topics here:
• Here is a cool mod by Georqq that uses the same system suggested here; smelting colored sands to create colored glass, check it out!:
Colored sands into colored glass
• Here is an outstanding colored light mod that was in the works by theoneandonlyflexo check out his videos and his channel!
"I don't like colored sand because it would add too many new blocks to MC":
I added colored sand as an option for crafting colored glass because it would kills 2 birds with one stone. It would solve problems for people wanting colored glass and people wanting more color variations in standard blocks such as non-burnable, gravity, and stairs/slabs. The colored sand idea actually wouldn't require any new blocks or textures at all. The reason why, is because of how it could be programed. Much like how the biomes change the color of grass and leaves, both can wool and sand. Thus all blocks or future blocks that are craft able from sand or wool could be done in the same way; being colored entirely in code and decreasing the textures needed for the blocks. This solution would obviously require a change to how entities work but it would make way for limitless amount of colored items much like how leather armor works.
Now you may still be thinking, "well, that still doesn't fix the items being displayed in the inventory" actually it wouldn't be much of a problem since all of these items are just as hard to craft, having an inventory full of different colored sandstone blocks and the like, is only the fruits of your labors; having to collect dies, making cored sand and crafting them into stone. If what you are worrying about is the creative menu being overly crowded; this also wouldn't be a problem since the 1.3.1 update that added an improved creative mode inventory with
categorized tabs for various items/blocks and a search menu. If more colored blocks are added, they could simply just be added into to their own tab with would be extremely useful for pixel art artists and the like.
If you are still unsatisfied with colored sand being a step in creating of colored glass, we have discussed other options as colored sand is only a suggestion. Please look at "Cool Ideas by you guys" above for more information.
"Wouldn't it be easier to make colored glass by just combining it with dye like how you make wool?"
Easier yes, but wouldn't make much sense. Colored sand would mimic how real colored glass is created and it would open up more opportunities for new blocks using colored sand; including colored sandstone steps. Also, considering the "special properties" of colored glass, I believe it should be slightly harder to craft instead of simply adding color. with that said, I do not intend to say my crafting proposition is the best solution. In fact there have been many great alternative suggestions that have been made here. So keep thinking critically, innovate on existing ideas and give us some great suggestions!
"Has Mojang seen this?"
Yes, in fact we even heard back from Mojang on the topic; Nathan Adams also known as Dinnerbone from Mojang stressed that they have indeed been noticing the feedback on colored glass from the community. He also stated that colored glass is indeed possible and hinted that implementation of colored glass is not a "no"; which is exciting news.
Unfortunately, he also informed us that colored light is impossible on a large scale with the current lighting engine. However he also stated: "The lighting system is extremely broken and needs rewriting" this could mean that there is still a chance, if re-written, a new lighting engine may be able to support colored light. But this is uncertain.
The whole conversation can be found here:
ChadGarion25 informed me of a tweet made by Dinnerbone on 25 Sep at 6:14 AM eastern time where dinner bone posted a comment that could be very promising for colored glass and colored light to be implemented into Minecraft!
Check it out!
So basically what we can assume from all this is:
1) colored glass is very much possible in the current version of Minecraft; except it wouldn't allow other transparent textures to be seen through the glass (much how ice and water works in MC) and it would be difficult to ad a Z-buffer without having performance issues on slow platforms. This may not be much of an issue as most people will not have a reason to blend the colors of glass by stacking and though not completely transparent, it may look ok anyway. however I feel if a z buffer were added, perhaps there could be a toggle in video settings to turn off z-buffering for those who are playing on slower computers. Dinnerbone also hinted that the implementation of colored glass into vanilla is neither a yes or a no... so, I wouldn't give up on it just yet, guys. -_^
2) There are mods that have colored light implemented in versions of Minecraft before the adventure update. Check out theoneandonlyflexo for more info!
3) Yes Mojang has noticed this topic so there is no need to keep tweeting it to them as if they have never seen it.

Jun 8, 2013The_catmaker posted a message on 1.6- The most dissapointing update ever? **UPDATED 1.6**Complaint: No new mobs other than horse varieties:Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
1.6 is not comfirmed as a mob update. You can't blame Mojang for not adding stuff they didn't confirm.
Complaint: The skeleton/zombie horses: Aren't implemented yet. I have a sneaky feeling they wont ever be.
You can spawn those guys using 3rd party tools, and if Mojang didn't added them, you won't be complaining.
Complaint: Useless snapshots: In comparison to, say, 1.4 or 1.3 or even 1.5 snapshots, the snapshots have been small or tiny additions to the game, with the exception of the very first.
Well, don't expect a snapshot that is Diablo 3 without bugs. Those are just snapshots.
Complaint: No new biomes.
Right, Mojang confirmed on Twitter that they will add MOAR biomes and stuff and bla bla bla [/sarcasm]
Complaint: Useless features: Why should I care about attributes, resource packs. It will only be useful to 1% of the minecraft population, the map makers and such.
Attributes+resource packs+lots of random code+more random stuff = Mod API. Don't you want to replace the Endermen sound with Gentleman by PSY?
Complaint: Bad zombie spawning system: Not necessary.
What is so bad? It is not the nazi zombie paratroopers we had in the earlier snapshots. It also makes the game a little bit more challenging.
Complaint: Bug fixes: They are fixing bugs which I have never come across in my 1 1/4 years of playing minecraft (except the lava glitch, which really should have been fixed two years ago)
Well you are right Mojang is intended to make moar bugs. They are coding bugs to make us upset. Bugs create themselves.
Complaint: Ignoring all community suggestions: Horses were jeb's idea, not ours. This forum and /r/minecraft are probably checked once every month. In fact, the only time mojang has ever listened to the community for "suggestions" was way back in 1.4, witch huts.
If Mojang will impliment every single suggestion we have, Minecraft will turn into chaotic and awful game.

Jun 8, 2013BouncingBall posted a message on 1.6- The most dissapointing update ever? **UPDATED 1.6**It's not anybodies fault besides your own that you over-estimated the magnitude of the update. Updates have been released for much less than this.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
I think you would be far more pleased with the game if you enjoyed what you have rather than moping about "Mojang only implementing half of what I wanted". Lots of people have been waiting on a ride-able mob that you can control, I applaud Mojang for meeting the communities wishes; but they can't see to every update a player wants be released. Let alone in one update.
"The most disappointing update ever."? It could have been much worse.
